Woke up to this, this morning. I can leave my drive … just. It’s happening more frequently. Any suggestions to prevent and deter welcome.

Ram them repeatedly until the car is shunted out of the way?

OK, maybe not, but fun to contemplate.

WasherWoman25 · 16/07/2025 07:20

Ring the police if it’s a dropped curb and your are actually on your drive.

Parking123 · 16/07/2025 07:20

So tempting! Left a polite note so far but last time that was apparently just screwed up and thrown on the ground. Different car I should add

accordong to our old neighbours the previous occupants of our house bought some extra sticky tape a
nd stuck notices to the windscreens if offending cars asking them not to block her drive in future.

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 16/07/2025 07:21

Contact the council? Leave them a note on the windscreen? They are definitely BU but unless you like confrontation it's going to be tricky!

Park in the road across your dropped kerb for a while?

FfaCoff · 16/07/2025 07:22

Your diagram would suggest you can't leave your drive!

How far over is the car really?

I regularly moan about this to my husband. People will just park a bit over our driveway - say a rear bumper hanging over. They do it even though there's loads of room in front of them so they could have just pulled forward and been well clear. It drives me dotty. I can still get out but it's awkward and unnecessary.

I do nothing but seethe and glare at the offending car.

Lafufufu · 16/07/2025 07:22

I have similar i have taken to parking across my own drive.amd parking on the street reducing my neighbours without drives ability to park.

Right now phone your local areas parking enforcement and call and get it towed normally open at 7 or 8 am

Parking123 · 16/07/2025 07:22

it is raining and their window is down. 😌 small mercies

I love a diagram - but it does need to be to scale ;)

From this diagram you wouldn’t be able to leave your drive (unless walking).

deckchaironnabeach · 16/07/2025 07:26

Years ago the (private) car park where I worked had stickers printed saying ‘do not park here’ - they stuck them on the drivers window. I don’t know what the hell they used but they were an absolute bastard to get off. We used to see car driving around with the scraped off remains of these notices for weeks. It was at a local hospital with very little parking so people pushed their luck. But only once.

I swear they used superglue before it was invented!

MikeRafone · 16/07/2025 07:27

Park where they do for a while, couple of weeks. They’ll then get out of the habit of parking there. Humans form habits easily & if you can get them to create new habits it’ll leave your drive free. If they revert / so do you

alternatively if contact police as it’s a motor vehicle, and ask them to have a word with car owner- as they are blocking you in

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 16/07/2025 07:30

Buy some ultra cheap lipstick (99p from the market stuff) and write a note on the driver's part of the windscreen. It's not criminal damage but it's bloody annoying to get off.

MikeRafone · 16/07/2025 07:31

Are they parked totally on the road? Or are they blocking the path for a wheelchair user?

Get out there with your hose and water their car your garden literally!

ThejoyofNC · 16/07/2025 07:39

I've heard a knife to the tyres is an effective deterrent

I will but it’s the first time this car has done it

have reported to local traffic enforcement, but it says it will take 5 working days. If it’s there when I get back from work will log with 101

Sorry. Just being a pedantic lawyer. Even temporary damage that causes expense or inconvenience to rectify is considered criminal damage. I don’t recommend super sticky notes or lipstick.

If it's a different car to last time, the note might work this time then?

Parking123 · 16/07/2025 08:29

Neighbour has just messaged me to say that it’s still there.

I am petty so i sit in the window and watch them ticket the cars fastest ever time was under 5 mins. On average every 20.
