Birthday meal London

Hi, am going to London for a long weekend with my daughter and her friend for her 16th birthday and looking for somewhere for a special meal on the Sunday night, the day of her birthday.
Nothing too fussy but somewhere that will be memorable and a bit of experience would be great! Also any suggestions for any must do activities would be most welcome! Thanks

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/07/2025 19:42

Any particular area?
What does she like?
Budget?

chubbybear1 · 14/07/2025 19:43

We are going to Chinatown on Friday night so probably not Chinese, am not set on cuisine but am
more looking for a special atmosphere/environment that teens would appreciate and make for a memorable night, prob not more than £150/200 for the 3 of us

2 come to mind which are memorable, but in very different ways.

https://www.benihanainternational.com/ It can be fun watching the food being cooked and the chef throwing around tools and landing an egg in his hat, flames on the grill etc. Popular with families.

https://www.the-shard.com/restaurant-bars/aqua-shard/ Stunning views, but might be a bit too formal for teens. You can go there for just a drink (soft drink) to see the views and eat elsewhere too.

Home - Benihana

Forzawine at the national theatre is fun, with a great view over the river of the london eye.
It’s buzzy, informal, but feels cool and special.
and tasty small plates - reasonable too

chubbybear1 · 14/07/2025 19:48

Oh Benihana looks fab, thanks. She loves sushi/sashimi so think that would be a winner!

I can recommend Circle Popolare on Rathbone Place. Very very insta worthy and food is nice Italian as well. You have to book the minute they release bookings though as it is very popular.

Ave Maria in covent garden from same chain also meant to be good but I have not been.

Also - look at restaurants in Kingly court. They are fun and buzzing and next to Carnaby street which is always good for a wonder. I particularly recommend señor ceviche and Imad's Syrian Kitchen.

Verite1 · 14/07/2025 19:54

If she likes Japanese, Roka on Charlotte street is great food and again cool and buzzy. Pretty pricey though. They have different branches, but I think that one is the best.

OverlyFragrant · 14/07/2025 19:59

Sushi samba
Black lock

chubbybear1 · 14/07/2025 19:59

Thanks all, having a look through all suggestions 😊

Try for a table at the Devonshire?
If you are going to Chinatown go to Bun House, its fantastic (more for lunch than dinner tho)
Speedboat Bar is a load of fun (Thai)
Roka is fab but will blow your budget

IthasYes · 14/07/2025 20:26

I've never seen anything my dc would like on the zedel menu, perhaps it's the way it's written?

Not ava Mario because you may get unlucky and end up on the smallest table ever in a restaurant being served food on the largest plates ever in a restaurant

VenusClapTrap · 14/07/2025 20:29

My teens’ favourite restaurant for celebrations is Ivy Asia. It’s completely over the top.

user0177561 · 14/07/2025 20:32

Have a look at coppa club at tower bridge. They do outdoor ‘igloos’ with some great views too and the menu is very varied.
Other options with more of an atmosphere could be tattu, ivy or amazonico.

JDM625 · 14/07/2025 20:34

@Verite1 Any reason you quoted my suggestions above? I'm not the OP.

IthasYes · 14/07/2025 20:36

Instagram wow its ivy Asia but amazon's maybe also amazing

On Saturday night they had dance music going and a sax walking around

MauriceTheMussel · 14/07/2025 20:38

Nobu brunch - set price, Shoreditch, probs running on a Sunday

AutumnLover1989 · 14/07/2025 20:40

This was where I took DD for her 16th and it was her perfect ideal place to go :)

ahhh you beat me, sorry! I missed that when I scrolled thru

legolegoeverywhereandnotadroptodrink · 14/07/2025 20:52

somebody ALWAYS suggests brasserie zedel…so predictable …its not that exciting for teens

This would be great for prices and wow factor of the building. However, last time we went the service was unfortunately really shoddy. Maybe we were unlucky as it’s been great on previous visits.
