Birthday meal London

Hi, am going to London for a long weekend with my daughter and her friend for her 16th birthday and looking for somewhere for a special meal on the Sunday night, the day of her birthday.
Nothing too fussy but somewhere that will be memorable and a bit of experience would be great! Also any suggestions for any must do activities would be most welcome! Thanks

I've never seen anything my dc would like on the zedel menu, perhaps it's the way it's written?

Not ava Mario because you may get unlucky and end up on the smallest table ever in a restaurant being served food on the largest plates ever in a restaurant

This was our experience in Gloria, which is the same brand. We had an awful, tiny table right next to where the waiting staff got cutlery from. It really put a damper on the evening tbh.

IthasYes · 14/07/2025 21:14

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie really!!
Astonishing isn't it it's the smallest restaurant table I've ever sat at., more a cafe table for two at a push but there was 3 of us.
I ordered the carpaccio and I've never seen such a huge platter 🤣 definitely wouldn't fit in the table it wouid have filled it all they brought a special stand for it. Obviously they do that but it's ridiculous

It was also baking hot in there and I asked tod
move thankfully they took us downstairs to a normal table.

I think they just want to ram as many people as possible into their venues.

mynameiscalypso · 14/07/2025 21:25

@IthasYesLast time I went to Ave Mario, the two of us ordered the carpaccio and it was an absolutely bloody nightmare 😂

Willowskyblue · 14/07/2025 21:33

Sketch. I’ve never been but friends have and say it s amazing, as well as an experience.

@Verite1 Any reason you quoted my suggestions above? I'm not the OP.

I clicked quote by accident as it was last post as I was writing my response. Nothing more than that!

Try for a table at the Devonshire?
If you are going to Chinatown go to Bun House, its fantastic (more for lunch than dinner tho)
Speedboat Bar is a load of fun (Thai)
Roka is fab but will blow your budget

Randomly, someone was telling me all about Speedboat bar the other day! It’s meant to be great.

Devonshire is lovely food but I think it’s more adult than teen.

Ava Maria on Henrietta St for ages has been our favourite restaurant. But it's suddenly become TikTok famous, and getting a table is difficult! But the food is delicious.

This would be great for prices and wow factor of the building. However, last time we went the service was unfortunately really shoddy. Maybe we were unlucky as it’s been great on previous visits.

It's changed hands - used to be great, now it's mediocre at best.

Ah right. A shame.

OP - these might not have sufficient wow factor but are in budget and I think might appeal to teens.

Bao - their bubble tea is lovely!

Hoppers

Dishoom

Anything in or around Battersea Power Station because there's always a nice buzz outside and the building is so stunning - mocktails in Control Room B a possibility then too

Thanks all, after looking through suggestions so far with her circa lopopolare is winning! My favourite cuisine too so happy with that!

Duck and waffle went down a treat with my teens. The elevator ride is something else!

BoattoBolivia · 14/07/2025 22:49

Sarastro's is fun but you might want to check out the adult toilets before the teens do. https://www.sarastro-restaurant.com/menus/

If you're at Battersea Power Station- try 'Where the Pancakes are'- great place.
