Ds just had a deep conversation woth me. Hes 10 has autism.

So mum are you going to loose some weight. Me: why do you think I should? Ds yeah because your over weight. You need to be healthy. Me: maybe I can loose weight over the 6 weeks holiday and we can go back to school slim. Ds: no i dont think so its hard to loose weight at your age. But if you loose weight tou will look better than you do now. Also why do you drink coke you need to have healthy things so you can be healthy loose weight and walk better with no waddling. I dont waddle 🤣. I want you to loose weight because i love you and want you to be healthy i will teach you jumping Jack's.

Then he gave me lots of hugs and kisses 🥰

So are you going to lose weight?

When you say 'we can go back to school slim', does that mean he's overweight too?

LadyKenya · 13/07/2025 21:04

Ahh, he sounds nice, and that he wants you to be, what he perceives as healthy. It is good that he can talk to you about it, the jumping jacks comment shows his innocence.

KnewYearKnewMe · 13/07/2025 21:10

What’s triggered his conversation, Op?

you’ve put a few laughing emojis - is this lighthearted or is there a reason for it?

Ds has autism and learning difficulties. But just for your information its me who gets mixed up with with the spelling of lose/loose because I also have dyslexia. I hope that explains it to you .

The 6 year old daughter of a friend once asked her ‘Mummy? Do you ever wish you were pretty?’

He's probably had a healthy eating talk at school and the problems associated with being over weight and has realised you are a bit on the big side (if you are of course) and is now worried about you.

I love the directness of children absolutely no sugar coating just say it as it is to them.

Your boy sounds adorable @Dollymix2044, he clearly loves and cares about you very much.

Enjoy learning jumping jacks with him.😆

Don't rise to it.

If spelling mistakes make them so angry, it's down to them to remove themselves from the internet.

Their intolerance is their own problem, not yours.

What on earth is wrong with you? Does it make you feel good to pick holes in someone else? This isn’t pedant’s corner. Perhaps you should fuck off over there?

CheezePleeze · 13/07/2025 21:45

I've just reported them because that sort of idiocy is what puts people off posting.

Anyway OP, are you going to sit down and devise a healthy plan with your DS, or hope he'll have forgotten all about it by tomorrow? 🤞🤣

It's OK. I think them people needed it explaining to then as they clearly have no understanding of dyslexia /sen so clearly need educating.
