They probably won't do too much frothing about his either, given who is responsible...

Philps got his arse handed to him by Yvette Cooper over this, Jenrick was nowhere to be seen, same for Patel and Braverman but they have been quiet.

Has anyone worked out which phone boxes are hosting this years Tory conference ?

Braverman isn't quiet locally!

She’s now fuming that Denmead may be made part of the Portsmouth Unitary council.

Tough times here 😉

LlttledrummergirI · 15/07/2025 14:31

Surely Denmead should belong with Havant and Emsworth?
I don't know where all the boundaries are there now, but they ll belong together in my head. Along with Waterlooville.

FTSE All Share Index is up 9% over the last 12 months....

4 interest rate cuts too.... BoE say the NI increases have reduced some pay rises, lowering inflation and may allow more rate cuts....

BUT according to the Tories, this is all the signs of a weak economy!

Still not a hint on the BBC Business or Economy pages.

Aaw, be fair. There's at least enough of them to fill a whole bus shelter.

It looks like the leak itself was terrible, but the cover up went far beyond normal parameters - partly as a result of Uk politics espoused by Braverman and Jenrick rather than a desire to protect vulnerable Afghans.

Notonthestairs · 15/07/2025 17:11

Who is going to collaborate with and support our overseas forces if in doing so they are at risk?

placemats · 15/07/2025 17:15

I'm so going to invest in Government Gilts.

Well if that can be covered up, so can the plot to kill Princess Diana.

Also, it's hard to have a deep respect for the law, when no one else has.

I thought superinjunctions had been banned anyway ?

My first memory of hearing of injunctions was when the Sunday Times (they used to be a UK newspaper) finally overturned an injunction to tell us about the thalidomide tragedy and scandal.

A few quid wouldn't hurt. As part of a balanced investment.

Re the good news on the FTSE,
BBC bias showing again, in my opinion.
They appear to be very selective in their reporting these days.

From what I understand she thinks it should be under Winchester.

All to do with “poshness” from what I can make out.

I haven’t really looked into it other than read her letter to parliament briefly if I’m honest.

itsgettingweird · 15/07/2025 20:14

I watched a really good interview on GMB this morning. It was a youngish bloke (Gary Stephenson I think he was called) who used to be in finances and made millions in his 20’s betting against the uk economy improving after the crash.

He had some really good insights into taxing wealth and economy etc and about distribution of wealth. Apparently he has a book and podcast and I’m going to investigate these other the summer.

He basically said it shouldn’t be easy to get rich quick betting against the future finances if the country - we should be investing in the country to make everyone’s lives better. He was really inspirational.

Karistyleaftea · 15/07/2025 20:21

@itsgettingweird I really rate him, I've watched him on QT before.
Some ex Tory PM's could do with being introduced to him.
The Rich are too rich now,

Can't fault their inconsistency.

Neither can Darren Grimes

Even if there is not enough for a bus shelter, the phone box has probably been taken away.

Gary Stevenson is brilliant. I follow him on Instagram (he’s on there and YouTube as Gary’s economics) and I’m listening to the audio book of Trading Game which brilliant at explaining trading and the drain of money to the top.

LittleBowSheep · 15/07/2025 22:07

I've just done a search on the BBC website and still can't find any mention of the FTSE news today.

They have, however, found the time to publish an article about Farage's opinion of Trump not being able to address Parliament during his visit in September.

BBC bias at work again?

I'm off now to submit my views to the BBC.

US President Donald Trump speaks to the media before leaving the White House on board Marine One, in Washington

Shoddy that Donald Trump can't address MPs, says Nigel Farage

The US president's state visit later this year has been scheduled during a House of Commons recess.

I turned off Today this morning and turned over to ITV. Refuse to listen to the 🍊

LlttledrummergirI · 15/07/2025 22:25

Piss poor reporting from the BBC today. They get a session with Trump and ask him banal, boring, pointless questions and fail to challenge him on his bollocks.
