What are you doing up at this ungodly hour?

I've been unwell since last Thursday. Although I'm recovering, I still feel off. I've also slept this afternoon for 3 hours, so my body clock is out of sync.

I also have endometriosis pain. Just slightly.

I also lost someone very dear to me four weeks ago. I miss him terribly and the grief is still raw.

There's other stuff too like work stress.

I was hoping to go back in work tomorrow to tackle some of the work stress but I'm still unwell.

You've a lot going on.

I'm struggling with my breathing. I think, in part, there's anxiety there as my chest is clear and I can take deep breaths, but my throat feels blocked and it's all just hard work. Drinking a herbal tea, then will do a throat lozenge, then try again.

Just can’t sleep, once I’m awake, I stay awake for a couple of hours. So I’ve just spent an hour checking school reports before they go out next week, have made myself a hot drink and am then going to try again!

Some wierd dream which I can’t remember now but I was trying to get my arm out of my nightie and that was tugging on my throat! I’m wide awake and sorted but still feeling a little anxious about it all!
I’ve got a busy day tomorrow and need to sleep but that doesn’t feel like it will happen any time soon.
Wishing fellow ‘wide awakers’ well

WearyAuldWumman · 08/07/2025 02:26

Procrastinating, I guess. Also, I have no real need to get up in the morning since DH died 4 yrs ago.

Tired now though.

LateMumma · 08/07/2025 03:29

Worrying about my daughter. She’s having some friendship problems and struggling.

notanothersummercold · 08/07/2025 03:56

Deciding whether to hire a hot tub for the 1st week of hols as dd is having her group here for a sleepover on the last day of school

Natsku · 08/07/2025 04:11

its 6:10 where I am, been up an hour, off to work soon. Didn't sleep much though so I'm gonna be knackered by lunch time.

BuddhaAtSea · 08/07/2025 04:20

Finished night shifts yesterday morning, I managed to stay awake most of the day, went to bed at 10, wide awake since 3! I’m going to take the dog out and go back to bed, hopefully.

shrunkenhead · 08/07/2025 04:26

Worrying about all the stuff I have to do today/ this week. I've taken on too much which means messing clients about (they'll be fine but don't like doing it). I just really need to learn the word "no".
I also have a cold so the coughing and blocked nose isn't helping and my body aches after falling at the week end and hurting my coccyx. And I'm getting a bit paranoid about falling over now because if I break any bones I'm screwed. So thinking I should take out income protection insurance but not sure how much it would be and I don't like people phoning me up, why can't anyone just email you a quote?
Just some ramblings, thanks for reading!

Singleaftermarriage · 08/07/2025 04:27

Worrying about work. Feeling very unsupported. It's the thing that usually wakes me up and keeps me awake

GreenDogDot · 08/07/2025 04:33

Baby is bunged up and can’t lie down so is slamming her head side to side on my chest instead. Up for work in 2 hours and haven’t actually closed my eyes yet!

RonnIeAl77 · 08/07/2025 04:34

Sleep is awful these days as I have stage 4 bowel cancer and I’m in so much pain. Having a full bowel resection next wed meaning a permanent stoma so getting quite anxious about that, as it’s a 10 hour surgery, I also need a plastic surgeon as they need to build a new pelvic floor due to the size and needing clear margins. On so many meds so have just taken some more to hopefully knock me out!

ineedteanownotlater · 08/07/2025 04:41

just totally overwhelmed by the amount of work I have got to do. I go to bed and manage an hour, then I am up again by midnight, work on my laptop till about 5 then try and go back to sleep, up again at 6.30. This is 3/4 nights a week at the minute and I then crash at the weekend and sleep most of the day and night then start again Monday!

Emelene · 08/07/2025 04:52

I’m nearly 37 weeks pregnant and wake often in the night for a wee! Feeling lots of emotion as I’m wrapping up work this week and saying goodbye to my team in the morning.

Elleherd · 08/07/2025 04:52

Pain and worry. Life's consistent companions.

angelcake20 · 08/07/2025 04:53

In A&E with ill student son. They think he has glandular fever but it’s taken all night to be seen even though he can’t swallow and his breathing sounds awful.

nopiesleftinthisvehicle · 08/07/2025 04:54

One of my dogs requested some emergency garden time 💩
Happy to stay up now with a few coffees. Favourite time of day - middle of the night. ☕

Wingingit11 · 08/07/2025 04:54

I’m just a terrible sleeper but genuinely so sadddned by how much done on this thread have going on. I’m sorry and hope you find some peace soon

aGirlLikeJesamine · 08/07/2025 04:56

woke up for a wee

WHYherewhyNow · 08/07/2025 04:57

Epileptic aura unfortunately, hoping it doesn't progress

halfbakedkate · 08/07/2025 04:57

Daughter came home from clubbing about half an hour ago. I can’t sleep properly when she is out, plus work stress means I wake at the slightest thing anyway.

Mikart · 08/07/2025 04:58

Default wakeup for me is 4am. Mind you I'm in bed by 9. Lots of tabs open in my brain.

Tarkan · 08/07/2025 05:06

I don’t sleep much overnight anymore but my dog decided to wake me up a few hours earlier than normal so I’ve been tired all day. I managed to cope all through the day then sitting on the sofa after dinner I totally crashed out and had a 2 hour nap from around 7-9pm.

I eventually started to feel tired again, came to bed at 4am and less than half an hour later young lads from further along our street decided to start playing football outside.🤬 DH went out and asked them to move along but the noise of the ball constantly bouncing has woken me up again. If I’m not asleep by 6 I’m just going to get up and plan a late morning nap instead I think.

ConsistentlyPeeved · 08/07/2025 05:16

I’m awake due to progesterone and the dog having diarrhoea- random combination.
Ive been on HRT for a couple of months and I’m finding the two weeks where I’m taking the progesterone; I have interrupted sleep. I was awake at 3am as my other half had taken up all the room in the bed and trotted off downstairs to use the loo. The dog insisted on coming downstairs as well and was jumping around so took her for a very early walk whereby she deposited loose bowels. I can’t sleep now, I’ve tried but my eyes are itching and my nose is running like mad due to hay fever. Likely this is me up for the day now as I need to be awake for 6:30 anyway and can guarantee that if I go back to sleep I’ll feel crap for the rest of the day.
