Can we have a thread to share interesting and preferably old-ish TV documentaries? Anything goes! Please share.

I love a documentary that you can only see on YouTube. I’m into 1970s ones atm. Then the algorithm goes so narrow and ONLY shows me 70s docs. I need to see more…
I like the BBC Archive ones.
During lockdown I watched an 80s Boarding School documentary but I’ve been unable to find it since.
Can we share good ones?

Here’s one of mine, love Olly Reed

On BFI player they have just released some.documentaries by Frederick Wiseman. They are really good. Just watched Central.Park which is a day in 1990. It's fascinating. Also one about a secure prison for crimally insane. Titfield.Follies.in 1968. definitely watch that with caution.

Saw this last night on bbc4.

The secret world of Haute Couture

It dawned on me that it's a period piece slowly after seeing footage of John Galliano and the later on, early blonde era Victoria Beckham (very much NOT in the income bracket or demographic of key buyers), then Ivana Trump.

This may already have been posted, but if not, Three Salons at the Seaside is brilliant

Yes! This is just lovely. It reminded me of my late mum and her friends who met every Friday for a shampoo and set.

Apologies if anyone has shared this already (potentially me!)

This was on bbc4 last night. They had themed programmes on the summer of 1976.

This is a film about a Sunderland family where both parents have recently lost their jobs not letting it hinder their plans for a fortnight away.

They go camping. That's it.

If they did something like this now it'd have a snarky voiceover from the guy who does Come Dine With Me and comedy music on it while they tried to work out if they were Brexit voters

I've not worked out how to use the catch up service for Talking Pictures TV, but it's possible you might be able to use it for 300 Men and a Girl, which we recorded. It's a training film made for Birdseye in 1959 about how to be a 'salesgirl'. Obviously they're all grown women, while the reps on the road are men and described as such, but that's 1959 for you! It was on at 0305 on Wednesday 6th June. If it comes round again on TP, I feel it would appeal to many on this niche thread.
