M&S thank you e-card email - is it genuine?

Brownbearwhitebear · 27/06/2025 12:08

I've had a mail saying M&S will be sending an e-card to apologise for the problems with orders after their cyber hack incident. Has anyone else received this? I can see why they might be trying to entice shoppers back and restore some goodwill but I can equally see how it could be a scam!

I had one too. The link takes you back to the genuine M&S site, so looks ok to me.

HÆLTHEPAIN · 27/06/2025 12:44

Yes, mine is on my account now, ready to spend.

mackerella · 27/06/2025 12:52

I haven't had an email about this, despite being a loyal customer! Is it on for people with a Sparks card?

I havent opened mine in case its a scam. You'd think they'd put out a press announcement or something.

I think it might be those that had orders cancelled, I haven't received one, my order just before the incident did arrive ok

qotsa · 27/06/2025 12:59

They sent an email a few days before saying they were going to send it as an apology for cancelling my email. It’s on my account online to use, so it’s genuine yes.

Fridayfederica · 27/06/2025 13:19

I’ve just used mine, it’s genuine. I don’t have a Sparks card, it’s an apology gift for having to cancel an online order during their recent problems.

Thanks, that makes sense! I wanted to order from them just after the cyber attack but changed my order to JL so I guess I didn't really miss out (except that DD prefers the M&S leggings to the JL ones!)

Brownbearwhitebear · 27/06/2025 14:16

Thank you all, I'm way too suspicious now! How much is the voucher for? I wonder if everyone gets the same 🤔

That's what I was wondering too @Brownbearwhitebear , I haven't done any more than read the email just now. It did say it was because they cancelled my order.

This whole thing must have cost them an absolute fortune.

Brownbearwhitebear · 27/06/2025 14:24

I feel for them too and I've really missed shopping there - I pass a foodhall on my way to/from work so I use the click and collect a lot - will be glad when it's back up and running.

I did an online order yesterday and it went through ok

Brownbearwhitebear · 27/06/2025 14:48

Oh yes I think it's just click and collect that's not back yet

Winky2024 · 27/06/2025 14:58

Yes it’s genuine. £5 voucher now saved to my account ready to spend.

It did mention in the email that I had a click and collect order at the time of the incident. Correct, but I had no problem collecting it. They seemed to insinuate it was a thank you for this.

Better than nothing!

BillStickersWillBeProsocuted · 27/06/2025 15:07

Its worth noting when something like this happens scammers will be quick to jump on it a duplicate the genuine e-mail. So be careful and double check the links take you to the real M&S Page

ProjectBanana · 27/06/2025 15:08

I got a £10 voucher because they cancelled my on line order .

Coco69 · 27/06/2025 17:02

I recieved an email too but I think it's highly suspicious. When M&S have emailed me in the past they have used my name in the email. No name was included which is a surefire way to spot a scam. Please be aware and don't click anything in any emails sent after this one.

Medee · 27/06/2025 17:03

It’s a fiver, don’t get too excited, but it is genuine.

cheezncrackers · 27/06/2025 17:03

I got one and it said it was because I'd had an order cancelled (actually it was two!). So no, I don't think everyone is getting it, just people who had paid for items and were waiting for delivery when the cyber attack happened.

skippy67 · 27/06/2025 17:35

Mine is for £10.

Alltheoldpaintings · 27/06/2025 17:37

I never follow email links if I can help it - much too easy to be scammed. But if you log in to your m and s account directly you can see if you got one.

FizzySherbet · 27/06/2025 18:15

Yeah it is. I messaged them on messenger. It’s for cancelling a previous order during the cyber attack.

Hi FS, thanks for contacting us. Rest assured this is a genuine email. It's a thank you from us for your continued support during the Cyber Incident as your order was cancelled. The emails will be sent from [email protected] 😊 - Chloe

Brownbearwhitebear · 27/06/2025 18:27

Boo only a fiver but better than nothing!

I wonder if i'll get one to say sorry for the insane level of spam emails that I now appear to be receiving since their hack....

FellInAPotHole · 27/06/2025 19:04

Gosh I thought it was a scam. If you click on the reply email address it does not look like a real address and my email account gives me a warning
