What are you grateful for today?

So my last thread I wrote on here was full of doom and gloom and the person I was then is not the person I am now .

Back then I was a depressed, miserable, emotional mess, there was no enjoyment in my life and I used to wake up each day dreading the day ahead and go to sleep at night hoping I wouldn’t awake up .

But today I have been reading a book and it states to find gratitude in each day and find 10 things each day that you’re grateful for . So here’s mine :

I am grateful for my health . Last year I was going through cancer and was very poorly . I’m now in remission

I am grateful I have a roof over my head and a lovely home I can call my own

I am grateful for my children and the better relationship I have with them

I am grateful for the friends I now have

I am grateful for the kindness of strangers

I am grateful for the beautiful sunshine but also the rain

I am grateful for going for walks in the lovely nature reserve near me

I am grateful for being able to relax

I am grateful for cleaning (When I was homeless I dreamt of having a home to clean )

I am grateful for being able to have long baths

What are you grateful for today?

Ditto for me OP.
Today I'm grateful for the ceiling fans in our house.
It's too soon to put on the AC but the fans are helping a lot.
I try not to avoid reading the news, it's my new routine for the prevention of MH.
Skimming the headlines is enough and I'm grateful for not living with the fear of being attacked by missile or drone.
Like you I'm grateful for friends, family, food on our table, and good health.

vincettenoir · 18/06/2025 19:04

I am grateful I have a clean and tidy house. It was me who cleaned it but I enjoyed the time to myself listening to podcasts.

Meadowfinch · 18/06/2025 19:06

My bed.

I have a trapped nerve in my arm/shoulder which is very painful. I managed to get through work somehow, and am now lying flat on my back on my bed in my undies.

All the windows are open. It is cool, calm and pain free. Such a relief

Ohhh it would be lovely to have ceiling fans and/air con .
My home doesn’t get too hot it’s quite cool compared to outside .
Like you I don’t read the news either. No point in causing unnecessary stress and worry xx

Nothing beats having a clean and tidy home does it @vincettenoir . I’ve just cleaned upstairs and tomorrow I’m going to clean the patio doors . I put my speaker on and listen to music . So therapeutic xx

That’s a good one @Meadowfinch . Ouch it sounds painful having a trapped nerve .
I hope you enjoy your rest . I’m on my own this evening as my daughter has gone away for a few days so think I might watch some Netflix and then have a long bath and do some journaling xx

Im grateful that the Timpsons man mended DDs shoe for free this morning.

That the lifeguard at the pool was super quick helping a girl in trouble at the pool this evening.

That my colleague gave me a meringue yesterday, which meant we got pavlova for pudding tonight!

that I successfully had chats with 3 other school mums and 1 dad today... not usually my strong point!

And that my DD seems to have had a good day at school today.

Pollqueen · 18/06/2025 19:53

I do this at the end of every day, a list of gratitude. Today:
I have a safe roof over my head and I am not living in a war zone
Lovely colleagues
I have a job with a regular income
Great friends
Lovely, lovely DP
My family love me
Reasonable health
Live in a beautiful, safe area with fantastic neighbours
So much more and prefer to concentrate on the positive rather than the negative

Tiredandtiredagain · 18/06/2025 19:54

My blood transfusion today

I’m grateful to you lovely blood doners

Pabbel · 18/06/2025 20:03

I am grateful for the warm sunshine.

HeddaGarbled · 18/06/2025 20:05

This glorious weather and roses.

JustAMum35 · 18/06/2025 20:13

Nice thread @Imbluedalale 😊

I’m grateful for having the chance to be a mother. After my first I was diagnosed with a condition that would make it hard for me to have a successful pregnancy. It’s a condition I always would have developed, just a question as to when. I’m grateful that it started after my child arrived.

I’m grateful for my DH. Everytime I read threads on here about the actions of some peoples OHs (currently the one who doesn’t allow parties or friends!) it just makes me so grateful to have the man that I do.

I’m grateful for the chance to give my child a safe and loving home, breaking some real cycles.

Wow @Imicola what an amazing few days you’ve had!
How lovely of the timpson man to do that. I don’t think people realise the huge impact they have on a person with an act of kindness they do .
It’s always a good feeling knowing your children have had a good day . My daughter had an exam yesterday and as a surprise today I got her a McDonald’s delivered and she was chuffed to bits she’s gone out now but messaged me to say how much she appreciated it xx

That’s a great way to end the day @Pollqueen .
I have found it helps so much to have gratitude rather than focusing on things that are not worth my energy x

I’m grateful I live at the seaside and can be there in 5 mins. It calms me. I’m grateful for my 2 girls, who although too young to organise anything have made my birthday special with hugs and home made cards. I’m grateful their dad is on his way home. And I’m grateful that bb although my dad has rare cancer he’s doing ok

NiftyScroller27 · 18/06/2025 21:02

I am grateful that I got a long nap today, feeling pretty tired all the time at 14 weeks 5 days

cupfinalchaos · 18/06/2025 21:07

I’m grateful for my amazing dh. Also for our beautiful garden which feels like we’re in a hotel. Grateful that I’m 57 and both my parents are still alive, and for my two beautiful children.

Tisfortired · 18/06/2025 21:07

I am grateful for;

My healthy children, and for the one kicking away in my belly currently.

My wonderful husband

My job (even if I hate it, many don’t have a regular income and I am lucky to do so)

This gorgeous weather so I can do loads of washing without using the tumble dryer

Seawolves · 18/06/2025 21:10

Overhead tracking. I am grateful for overhead tracking. Now I can hoist my child in safety, I can get him in and out of the bath/shower with no fear of dropping or hurting him or me. I can move him around our house in safety and my back feels all the better for it. He may only be 5 but his involuntary spasms and his epilepsy make carrying him difficult and, at times, dangerous.

The bungalow we now live in.

The staff at his specialist school who know and understand him so well. They know when he's well and they know when he's sick, they understand his non verbal communication and they get his wicked (but previously hidden) sense of humour and his character.

The taxi driver who picks him up for his trips to and from school and the personal assistant who travel with him. As with the staff at school they know him well and I know he's safe with them on the way to and from school.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 18/06/2025 21:11

I'm grateful for having a great bunch of girl guides in my company. And also grateful that the one who clearly doesn't want to be there is going to boarding school after the summer holidays. I hope she finds her tribe.

Chocolateorange22 · 18/06/2025 21:13

Today I am grateful for having been able to go to my sons parents meeting for starting reception in September. I was diagnosed with cancer when he was six months old. Coming up to 4 years in remission, at the time I didn't think I'd see him start school.

I am also grateful for having a job even if it was hot WFH today.
