Ignorant, patronising twat.

Trump to the President of Liberia: "Such good English. Where did you learn to speak so beautifully?"

English is the official language of Liberia...

Liberia was founded by formerly enslaved Americans.

My understanding is that ALL vaccines are in some form 'under review' because according to that profound expert, RFK, vaccines actually don't work. Unless I suppose it's a member of his family that needs one. Then I suppose whatever vaccine it is will have 'limited effectiveness' and be approved 'on a trial basis'.

There have now been more measles cases in 2025 than in any other year since the contagious virus was declared eliminated in the United States in 2000, according to new data released by the CDC.

Trump is trying to tank Brazil's economy because they prosecuted his ally Jair Bolsonaro for organizing a coup.

He's trying to make the world safe for dictatorship.

@Spandauer I'm planning a 🌮 stand for Trump's visit. From my house I can see the offshore wind farm that he tried to stop because it diminishes the view from his 'resort'. I'm happy every time I see the wind turbines. My local Council tried to stop the golf course but were overruled by the SNP Gov't. I'm still mad about that!!!

Great minds think alike, @DuncinToffee, that’s the same link I posted earlier yesterday afternoon!

@logicisall would i be right in thinking that you would have few reservations of hosting a bus load of pissed off women voicing their dislike of the orange arsehole? Grin

logicisall · 10/07/2025 09:06

You will be 100% right!

Love it. And there was a comment that it will be just as bad if Vance and his eyeliner took over.
I am not so sure. He certainly isn't so popular and I think support would fade somewhat with him at the helm. He is very unlikeable.

Hi all, took a few days away to recharge my social battery and back to say "Plus ca change?"

Just noting the earlier talk about Robert Maxwell, "Evil Genius" did an episode on him recently which is worth listening to on BBC Sounds.

The official language of Liberia is English.

I didn't know that. But I am not the President of the USA and I don't have to speak to people from Liberia

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/cdxl4gknwgno

I bet he was dying to say "It's the official language of my country"

Liberian President Joseph Boakai and Donald Trump are seen in the picture.

Watch: Trump praises Liberian president's English, the country's official language

Trump told Boakai he speaks "such good English", asking where he went to school.

Must be difficult when the head of a country you didn’t know speaks English has better English than you do.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 10/07/2025 17:25

Not difficult for them to achieve, though. The better English than Trump bit, I mean.

Must be difficult when the head of a country you didn’t know speaks English has better English than you do.

Especially when it’s a “Shithole Country”. Gutted.

Liberia produced Africa's first elected female president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
She was elected in 2005, two years after the nation's bloody civil war ended, and served as president until 2018.
Johnson Sirleaf has a strong American background as she studied at Madison Business College and later went to Harvard University where she graduated as an economist.
She has received worldwide recognition and accolades for maintaining peace during her administration.
Her story is pitted with remarkable feats of defiance and courage.
In 2011, along with Leymah Gbowee and Tawakkul Karmān, she won the Nobel Prize for Peace for her efforts to further women's rights.
In 2016, Forbes listed her among the most powerful women in the world.

What I can't understand in all this is how it is possible for a serving President of the US to visit a foreign country to promote support a personal commercial enterprise. AND WE HAVE TO F*ING PAY FOR HIS SECURITY!!!

A man dressed in a red jumper and red hat, with the logo "make America great again" on it. In the background, a police officer stands with his arms folded. He is wearing a reflective vest and large black hat.

Police Scotland can deal with Donald Trump visit, says chief

Senior officer insists a visit from the US President would not come at the expense of communities, despite warnings from the Scottish Police Federation.

“[The Houthis] just don’t want to fight, and we will honour that and we will stop the bombings, and they have capitulated,” he said on May 6. “They say they will not be blowing up ships any more.”

Well it turns out that Putin's not the only one tapping Trump.

Ugh. So now he's going to lord it over Starmer again - like he's laird of the manor.

Keir Starmer has accepted an invitation to visit US president Donald Trump during his expected trip to Scotland this month, according to a report.
The details of the visit, including the date, are still being finalised, Reuters reported. The White House has not commented on the report.
