I've just finished my first cuppa of the day and dd1, who is at work shortly, has made us both a coffee. The kittens have had breakfast and gone back upstairs - boy cat was turning on and off the dehumidifier to wake me up this morning 🤣. Goodness knows when he learned to do that!

We have individual plans today - dd1's at work from 12:30, dd2 wants to revise for her upcoming GCSE mock exams and I'm off for a wander in town. I've finally found some nice, strappy, tops that don't sit too low & make me feel weird about wonky cancer boob so will pick up a couple of those.

When I get in, I'll finish off base-painting my latest peg dolls, ready to add their details tomorrow.

I think we're having spag bol for tea later, then I want to have a look for some cursive practise worksheets or something to help improve the look of my cursive writing over the summer holidays.

Also need to sensibly consider whether Trnsmt festival is do-able with dd1 or not 🤔. We both really like the lineup but dd1 will need a sub.

Tonight will probably be chill & doom scroll for an hour for me, before an early night 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning @lucysmam and all!

Been up since 7am as stupid me set my alarm last night?! No idea what I was thinking but the kitchen has been cleaned, I’ve showered and washed & dried my hair, dark load has been washed and hung on the airer and just sitting with my 2nd cuppa.

dd is at her dads, ds is going for a play date at his friends so dp and I are going to fly into Asda for some snacks and sit down for a Black Mirror binge.

Will pick Ds up late afternoon and it’s creamy prawn pasta for dinner. Dp and ds are harping on about something on Fortnite which is happening at 7pm apparently so I will sit down with my kindle and enjoy a couple of proseccos which has been chilling since 7am. Maybe getting up early doors on a Saturday is the way forward? Although hearing that disgusting alarm sound this morning was not what I had on my weekend agenda Grin

Have lovely Saturdays all.

frozendaisy · 07/06/2025 10:06

Morning morning
on my second gallon of coffee this morning about to wake up GCSE teen, youngster can do what he likes, last weekend of revision revision revision (only 2 exams left after next weekend)

weather forecast is dreadful so being trapped under a pile of revision guides with a cross teen is fine today I guess, look on the bright side!

I bought pork pieces for, well ease, I don’t eat meat but if you add a piece of pork to “anything” no one complains - and I don’t have the headspace to be adventurous in the kitchen right now - think “let’s boil some eggs and erm yeah”

will re-enter society in 14 days time!

enjoy all

Good morning @lucysmam & the Saturday gang. I’m feeling a bit sorry for myself as I went back to sleep & had what seemed like a very long disconcerting dream ( it actually all took place in an hour) then woke with a bad headache. I’ve got some sort of low level virus & had to cancel a doggy walk with a friend yesterday. DH is going to give me my first proper shower since I broke my arm when he gets home from work in a bit so hopefully that & a cuppa will help. No plans for today except we might pick up pizzas for tea. I recently had a Sicilian lemon & king prawn Tescos one which was nice. DH wants to go on a longer bike ride than usual this afternoon. It’s hard to tell what the weather’s going to do. There’s a thunder & heavy rain warning for some parts of the UK. Nothing on tv tonight so might watch Paddington in Peru. DD16 emerged to go to the loo a while ago but is back in her room. She was in a strop last night because we said no to a very last minute sleepover. Sometimes her behaviour can be quite immature & she has definitely always hated the word no!

declutteringmymind · 07/06/2025 10:15

Morning morning Saturday people!

had my first coffee in bed, wash is on, ready to face the day. I’m still recovering from nasty virus so intend to get all the chores done today at a chilled pace. Will get the teenagers to pitch in as well. Dinner is going to be takeaway or sushi - DS2 to decide.

im trying to begin with the most urgent tasks followed by the ones I dislike. So I’m getting the online shopping booked first

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 07/06/2025 10:19

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I sympathise don'tforgetme with the rude awakening. I never sleep in. Today I was awake before six and up before half past. I have had two coffees, a cuppa and two slices of toast. The bed was stripped and washed and is tumbling away drying. I've had a shower and washed my hair. I've emptied and loaded the dishwasher and been to the local garden centre for birthday cards and presents. I'll clean the bathroom, hoover and polish too. I had planned to make a chicken and leek pie but forgot to buy chicken 🙄 so a quick trip to Aldi later. I'm going to make lentil soup and weed my path. It's long and bumpy and covered in weeds, so that's today's garden task. Have a good day all

princessspotify · 07/06/2025 10:19

Morning all. I've just got back from parkrun, I think I have a new Pb.
Plans today have a quick tidy up and then some revision with DS1, exams are almost over thankfully. Ds2 is going for a sleepover later, having a chess night at his friend's.
Myself and Dp will probably find something to watch on TV and order and takeaway

VioletIndigoBlueGreen · 07/06/2025 10:20

Morning! Like @frozendaisywe are a gcse revision household atm, though DS is starting the day at a music rehearsal which I hope will inspire focused studying this afternoon. I’m on my second load of washing and second cup of tea and have tidied the dining room. DH is walking the dog and has already cleaned the bathroom. I think today is a day of chores - I need to take a duvet to the cleaners, buy some food, mend a few clothes. I’ll be on dog walking duty this afternoon so hope it stops raining by then. Might try to finish reading my book for book group over the weekend as well. Really looking forward to exams being over so that we can inject a bit more fun into the weekends again!

LittleCosette · 07/06/2025 10:21

Morning all! Weather in rubbish here as well. On my second cup of tea and had left over pizza for breakfast! DD and DH now on their way back from the gym and I’ve been chatting to some lovely MNers for some legal advice. I’ve also done one load of washing and a bit of school work.
Now packing DD a sleepover bag as she is sleeping at Nanny and Grandpa’s tonight. DH and I are out on a date! Before that thought I’ve got a 3 hair appointment- very grateful to one of Yr11 who gave me a book as a Thank You present yesterday!

LightCameraBitchSmile · 07/06/2025 10:32

Morning all, I’m at a bit of a loss this weekend as I have no plans!

I used to love and empty weekend but have been making an effort with my social life recently so a bit out of practice. I can’t seem to muster the energy to do anything but know that if I just fester in the house all weekend I’ll feel rubbish by Monday!

ListenLinda · 07/06/2025 10:32

Morning all, a busy saturday today.
Got up at about 7, gave the kids breakfast and sorted the pooch out.
got us all dressed, been to slimming world, just at kickboxing with DS while DH walks pooch & takes DD to dance.
then quick trip to shop for supplies, take the kids to see my Mum & Dad before watching the rugby challenge cup final.
then i’ll take the dog out for an hour before going to my sisters for girls night.
Gin, Pizza & snacks, which is most welcome after this week, which has been quite a stressful one.

Giggorata · 07/06/2025 10:43

Good morning lucysmam and all,
DH and I are lolling about with coffee (him) and tea (me) and idly chatting.
We're having left over chicken curry for brunch later and then I'm going to visit a couple with some of my coven members to discuss their Handfasting ritual.
After that, I may end up in a tea shop or return home and do some laundry; I don't know.
My plans for this evening include putting the finishing touches to a (different) Handfasting ritual, more laundry and finishing my book. DH is going to cook some posh Angus burgers and then binge listen to some programmes on the Beeb about a wolf (one of his passions).

I forgot to thank the Mumsnetter who said last week that she would help me find a plumber, if I was in the Devon area. Alas, I'm not. Thank you, anyway.
I have been given another number to try, so may get lucky this time🤞

Crunchymum · 07/06/2025 10:47

Morning all.

(Another) wet day here. I honestly cannot believe it's June. The past week has been abysmal!!

We have a rare Saturday off of swimming today and I had grand plans to fill it with something fun and exciting. So far only one of us are dressed.

Given the weather, and the fact we all have a busy day tomorrow I think we're actually just going to have a lazy one today.

Off to the shops soon for some supplies, woke up to no bread 😔 also need to pick up a birthday gift for DC2 as she has a party later.

No idea about meal plans this weekend and my brain just won't make any decisions. I think it will be chicken souvlaki this evening and bolognese tomorrow.

We're in the middle of doing our stairs, we're going from carper to floorboards and the whole house is in disarray. I kind of like it - I love having a big clean after things are really messy - but it's good to have an excuse to let standards slip a little. I've not hoovered in days (have two cats so the main rooms usually have a cursory hoover every day!)

Later will be a film and an early night. This weather is making me want to hibernate.

Rainbow1235 · 07/06/2025 10:48

morning to u all . Was up early and out hair dye on which had gone a lot darker than I wanted . My hair is very light blonde so bit of a shock but I’m not goin to stress about it . Changed bedding and 3 rd lot of washing on . We having the front bedroom painted today so popping to the range as want to get new bedding and a lamp . As u all know my dad passed away and left his house to me and 2 brothers so we decided we wanted it kept in family so my daughter is goin to rent it at a cheap rate . Her and my grandson have lived with us for 5 years so it’s suddenly very quiet here although il see them loads as I’m one end of woods and she’s the other and it’s a 5 min walk plus I have my grandson 3 days a week whilst she’s at work. It’s a very wet day here in south wales and I’m gutted I’m having to use tumble dryer . Wishing u all a happy and safe day 🫶

PearlsPearl · 07/06/2025 10:48

Lazy morning today as I cancelled aqua as I had a cold this week (probably covid as others in the office tested positive but I had no tests) and still feel tired. DW walked the dogs and I eventually got up and had a shower, took 5 attempts to wake the teen up and get him out of bed.

We're all ready and fed now (yogurt and granola for me, porridge for DW, pop tarts for DS) and off to Edinburgh in a minute. We're going to Pokemania- so DS and my nephews are all excited for some card swapping.

We'll get lunch somewhere afterwards (nowhere planned, just wander til we spot something all will agree on) and maybe go to the shops for a bit.

Tonight will be a freezer tea and reading/doom scrolling/tv watching. I might try and get us all to play a few board games instead actually.

Have a good day folks.

Chelsea26 · 07/06/2025 10:54

Morning all!

I got up about 8:30 after drinking the coffee DP bought me in bed. He’s now gone off to play cricket so out for the day. DS1 is up showered and dressed, he’s got a broken foot so can’t do his usual game of golf but he’s sold some things on vinted so is going to hobble down to the shops later to post some packages. (He wants to walk btw, I would give him a lift otherwise)
DS2 was up till who knows when gaming so is awake but still in bed down the garden room.

I’m babysitting my little nephew today, he’s 20 months and a right little character so looking forward to spending time with him. Weather permitting we’ll pop to the park and have a toddle down the river before his dad comes to get him this evening.

Enjoy your days everyone x

Sheknowsaboutme · 07/06/2025 10:56

Im picking up 6 rescue hens! Cant wait!

got to the stage in life where i love chickens!

DilemmaDelilah · 07/06/2025 11:04

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I had such a bad night on Thursday/Friday that I took a pill last night and have consequently only just woken up! I did wake up around 8 and had breakfast, but I then went back to sleep while waiting for Mr Dilemma to vacate the shower.

I think I'm going to make up some more bath salts this morning (I use Epsom salts which contain magnesium which aids sleep), and I will probably make another batch of flapjacks. I usually do apricot flapjacks for our delivery/post people (and the occasional one for me) but I actually prefer sultana and seed flapjacks so I will probably make those. My sisters are coming to visit on Tuesday and one of them is very keen on flapjacks, which is my excuse for making them - as I do still have a few in the freezer.

I have no other plans for today - which is just as well as I'm still feeling a bit zonked out.

DilemmaDelilah · 07/06/2025 11:12

@Sheknowsaboutme you sound like the perfect person to answer a question for me....!

We drove to a nearby town a couple of weeks ago - through rural Devon. We passed somewhere that was either a farm or was somewhere that dealt with farming stuff, I can't remember which. It was advertising chickens for sale (NOT chicks). No other information. We were debating what sort of chickens they were? Were they chicks, as in had recently vacated the egg chicks. Were they young hens, as in pullets. Were they old layers. Were they ex-hens, as in now deceased but still have feathers, or were they ex-hens or even raised meat birds that are ready for the pot.

Still wondering... What do you think?

Thislittlekitten · 07/06/2025 11:23

Morning.

Bit later today. Had a sleep in. Very much needed. DH got up early and made sausages on a roll and tea and brought it to bed. I was very grateful!

Today I’m meeting a friend in town. Not seen them for ages. Be lots of chat over cake.

Later need to finish DDs room we are cleaning.

Oh must remember Father’s Day next week. Kids have something picked for DH but I need to pick up a book for my dad.

Tonight a quiet night I think. Half want a takeaway so I don’t need to cook but also not sure if am in the mood for one 🙈

I’ll try read my book tonight. I keep falling asleep.

MyKingdomForACat · 07/06/2025 11:30

I’m on tenterhooks today as my first grandchild should be born later. ELCS Just waiting for a space in theatre x

Zippedydodah · 07/06/2025 11:35

How exciting @MyKingdomForACat !
Good morning everyone, it’s soo wet and dismal here, more like November than June.
We took the dogs to the next village for a long walk, got soaked and very muddy so I’ve showered and lit the wood burner because it’s only 10° here.
ZDogs and DH are snoozing, I need to think about what to have for dinner but the enthusiasm is zilch. We’re 9 miles from the nearest takeaway, certainly don’t get delivered ones here!
Not a lot happening here, suits me fine 😊

Zippedydodah · 07/06/2025 11:38

It’s DC2’s birthday today (he’s 44!) and spending the day at a velodrome with DGSs so I will call him later. I well remember his birth, 45 minutes from nothing to here!

ssd · 07/06/2025 11:40

Morning all!
Am off today, had breakfast then a nice frothy coffee, weather looks a bit changeable outside, we like getting out for a walk but its doubtful right now.

Peridot1 · 07/06/2025 12:09

Hello @lucysmam and the Saturday gang.

I started reading the thread ages ago but got distracted and then went out for a walk. Been up ages and had had tea and toast and emptied the dishwasher. Due to rain here this afternoon so glad I got my walk done.

I’m hoping DS is tidying his room and sorting his washing out. I’ll change his bed and do a bit of a clean/vacuum if he has. He’s 23 and works from home in his room three days a week so it ends up a real mess and full of glasses and bowls and plates etc.

My other plans are fairly quiet. Need to find a button for a new shirt I bought and then realised it was missing a button and didn’t have a spare and taking it back to Zara would involve a one hour train journey. So I’ll hunt through my button stash. I also have a small pile of ironing I might tackle.

I have quite a few strawberries to use up so I’m going to attempt to make a high protein cottage cheese strawberry ice cream.

Dinner will be a minced beef fried rice.

OneLilacEagle · 07/06/2025 13:00

Good afternoon and happy weekend all. DH & DS are in a vortex of gaming today as their Switch 2 arrived yesterday so I'm having a pleasant day of solitary pleasures! Went for a lovely walk this morning along the seafront then had a coffee and cardamom bun at a new bakery. Back now and trying to decide what to do with my afternoon. There's a few jobs I could tick off my list but then, when isn't there! Or I could chill with some crossstitch and something undemanding to watch. Probs a bit of both. Mushroom Bahn Mi for dinner so we can use up our crop of radishes before the cats dig them up.
