French door fridge? Any good? Hisense?

I really like the look of the pull out drawers on this fridge but I'm not sure. Does anyone have any experience with them?

RF749N4SWSE Pureflat 90cm French Door

I also like this one which has the freezer under with 2 separate doors to open. I don't want a side by side fridge/ freezer I want a wide fridge.

RS818N4IIE Pureflat Infinite series

This are both Hisense as well which is not a brand I am familiar with.

We have the double french door (top and bottom) for fridge/freezer by Samsung and it is amazing. Can't recomment highly enough. Loads of room, lovely to have, easy to use.

Samesame47 · 05/06/2025 18:04

I have a French draw aeg and love it, the middle draw can be set to either fridge or freezer which comes in very handy

Roomforapony · 05/06/2025 18:37

We’ve got this in the black and we love it!
The wide fridge is easier to access/fill and has lots of storage and the freezer drawers are very roomy with the inner drawer in the bottom drawer. The top drawer is very handy as you can turn it into a fridge compartment, especially useful at Christmas and during the summer.
We’ve had ours for almost 3 years and I’d buy it again.
We bought ours from Currys and took out the protection plan for £5 per month, we’d had the same plan with our previous one which broke down during the one (and only) hot week in July😂. Currys were unable to repair so gave us credit (no quibbles) for the original price we paid. We effectively used our old freezer for 10 years for free😊

I have a Hisense French style fridge I bought two years ago from AO. It has a fridge on top and two equal sized freezer draws underneath. It’s smaller than the ones shown as it only has one door on the fridge, it was all I had room for in my new fitted kitchen. It’s a 60/40 split so a larger freezer than some fridge freezers which are 70/30, like my old one.

The main thing to note is the air space around it that it needed, more than most fridge freezers, it cannot be fully fitted as it needs gaps at sides and top to allow air circulation. My fitter said Hisense stated larger gaps, I think 10cm all round, than most other manufacturers but we had to go with slightly narrower ones in order to still have room for a larder cupboard by the side.

The one I have does not have the special drawer that can be used as a freezer as they are only in the larger models but it does have two drawers in the fridge and one has a better seal so keeps smells from affecting the whole fridge.

I’ll try to fins a photo of that part of my kitchen.

I love it though, it’s so easy to find things in the drawers

French door fridge? Any good? Hisense?
TheyreLikeUsButRichAndThin · 05/06/2025 18:46

Yep we have that one in your first link, or very similar. Top drawer can be fridge or freezer. Love it, massive. Freezer drawers are a game changer, so much better than reaching into doors and flimsy freezer drawers that break and come off their runners!

@SleepingisanArt I like that one of the pull out drawers can be a fridge or a freezer. Altho right now my 2.5yr old is butter crazy! So I wouldn't be leaving it anywhere he could get at

@minipie you're right I copied the wrong link - this is the other one https://www.very.ie/hisense-rq758n4sase-pureflat-90cm-cross-door-american-fridge-freezer-stainless-steel/1600931063.prd

@CocoPlum something like the one I've just posted now? This has a big fridge and 2 side my side freezers under. We also have a tall freezer in the garage with 5 drawers. - I also freeze a lot. I live on a farm and always have extra milk/ bread and batch cooked meals/ dump bags

I wouldn't buy one, but out of them all. I like that one you just posted as long as the doors open independently. Having to open one door to open the other drives me INSANE.

My friend has a 'French doors' fridge & when I stay to dog sit, it never feels as spacious as it should. I'm convinced I fit more in my 60/40 Bosch.

thats a lot of money to only get a 2 yr warranty though!

Momoftwoscallywags · 05/06/2025 19:26

I have the older version Hisense, the one with the doors. Love it! Had it 10 years now.

The only issue I had with it is was where it was postioned it in our kitchen. It was at an oblique angle to our kitchen door and our kitchen door is half glass. So the sun hit it in the morning and over warmed it. It meant the fridge struggled to keep cool and it made some really weird sounds!

Solution was to pop some UV film on the glass on the kitchen door and it's not been a problem since. Of course this scenario may apply to all fridges but I have not being able to test that theory. 😄

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 05/06/2025 19:55

Friends of ours have the fridge linked in the OP. They've had it 6-7 years I'd say. The drawers are brilliant. Wish we had the space.

pontipinemum · 05/06/2025 20:09

I think I am going with the Hisense French Door one.

But I am wondering if I should hold off a few weeks. Aren't there usually big summer sales? I've had my current one for a decade I can wait another month

@Roomforapony that was great! I will probably buy from Currys so I'll look at that

We have this one and I bloody love it. We've only had it 18 months but uave had no issues ao far.

wibdib · 05/06/2025 23:27

I have the one that you’ve linked to in the OP - probably had it about 5 years, and really love it.

we have got one that has a water dispenser in the fridge door but it’s not one that is plumbed in so doesn’t take up massive space - most of the time I don’t have water in it and use it as a (slightly precarious!) butter and cheese storage shelf.

i do have a couple of gripes - the top drawer in the fridge has managed to be broken - think one of the D.C. tried to close it when the drawer had been left open as it’s just cracked a bit of the bottom of the right side drawer ringer so it doesn’t open fully very easily but it’s certainly still easily usable. The other is that they don’t seem to have a designated place for chilled fresh meat if you look at the pictures - meat and fish drawings are on the drawer fronts of the freezer drawers whereas the fridge drawers have fruit and veg images from memory. Means that they can have everything in the images of contents but I would like to have a place to be able to keep chilled meat too. Like I say - a very minor quibble!

Overall we are very happy with it - I’d originally been looking at LG and Samsung but had memories of there being problems with the latter and the LG one I wanted went out of stock then was replaced by the new version that wasn’t quite as good but was also a bit more expensive (the one they had discontinued had been a great price!).

The Hisense ended up being about half the price of the other two - my mum was trying to say go for one of the more expensive ones as it should last longer but the reviews were fairly similar so we figured we would go for the hisense and see what happened - encouraged by the face that we suddenly had out dishwater and microwave all break at the same time so we were able to get reasonable versions of all 3 rather than just one more expensive fridge freezer and have to do the washing up by hand! If it only lasts half as long as the more expensive one (that they were suggesting should last 14 years) then we would still have the other half the money to buy a second one to lay the equivalent and if it lasts for longer then we will be quids in. Touch wood all is going well on track at the moment!

But definitely do look for a good deal - there was a range of prices when we bought but ended up getting the cheapest deal from a little local supplier in the next town over who delivered and fitted all the 3 things we needed, with great service, which Currys couldn’t match on price or timings.

minipie · 05/06/2025 12:46

Ours is Fisher & Paykel and looks like your first link except without the central drawer. So double fridge doors above and a big freezer drawer below (then the big freezer drawer is internally divided into upper and lower drawers).

I love it and it’s lasted well, we’ve had it since 2010. I don’t know Hi Sense though.

I think your second link is a side by side fridge freezer isn’t it?

We have a f&p one that sounds the same but only a couple of years old. Very pleased with it. We have the one with a water dispenser in the door but it doesn’t take away internal door space somehow! We previously only had an under counter tiny fridge and freezer, so it’s been amazing having so much f&f space!

Haier HCR3818ENMG_SI American Fridge Freezer in Silver
This us ours. Looks good, plenty of space and does the job well.
From AO last year and I love it. Didn't want a water dispenser/ice machine because they need plumbing in and often go wrong.

feelingfree17 · 06/06/2025 00:08

I have the Hi sense you were thinking about. Bottom can either be 2 freezers or freezer and fridge. Love it. So useful having that option especially for Christmas. I also find that it really does keep food fresher for longer

IJWMM · 06/06/2025 02:17

I see you’ve probably made your decision, but just in case anyone else is looking thought I’d add my opinion.

I went for an Haier around 3 years ago - very similar to the link below. I love the French rather than American style doors. Fridge section is so spacious and easy to organise. And I really like the separate doors and drawers in the freezer area - makes it easy to allocate drawers for vegetables, fresh meat, batch-cooked containers, fish, ready meals etc. There’s no rummagingaround through layers, I know which drawer houses which category of items. I do acknowledge that I’m a bit anal though!

I was a bit hesitant at first, as I didn’t know the brand name. But I looked at lots of reviews and I had a restricted budget. It was definitely cost-effective compared to similar from more well known names and I’m still happy with it now.

Severalshadesofgrey · 06/06/2025 04:11

Love my Hisense French door fridge freezer although I agree the one with wide drawers probably better. Can’t get some things (eg. Pizza) in the freezer.

teksquad · 06/06/2025 10:47

I have this Hi Sense French door one and it is brilliant. Had it for coming up for2 years and it is the best fridge, if not appliance I have ever had.

Hisense Pureflat Infinite RQ758N4SASE Total No Frost American Fridge Freezer - Stainless Steel

It seems to have almost infinite room, and we are a large family.

teksquad · 06/06/2025 10:50

Sorry side by side, not French.

I find it easier using the 2 cupboard doors of the freezer rather than the drawers, which a family member has.

I can honestly say that I have never not being able to get something in this fridge or the freezr easily.

BoredZelda · 06/06/2025 11:43

I have one and I love it.

Isthisreasonable · 06/06/2025 13:30

Don't know about their fridge freezers but had a Hisense dishwasher and wouldn't touch them with a barge pole now. The plastic coating on the drawers starting splitting after 18mths which rapidly led to the wire underneath rusting. Awful.

TheSilentSister · 06/06/2025 19:38

I have a Kenwood one. I must say that the deep drawers (for the freezer) are so much better than pulling out tiny shelves that you find in a normal fridge/freezer. It looks like your 1st pic OP.

dontcomeatme · 06/06/2025 19:42

I have that exact fridge freezer. It's still one of my favourite purchases ever. Go for it. I love it.

Jeezitneverends · 07/06/2025 07:33

I have French door fridge freezer and love it, it’s a Siemens. I prefer the French door freezer with drawers inside to the huge drawers-Despite being a control freak for organising food storage I found the big drawer difficult to manage and always ended up just having to dig

eurochick · 07/06/2025 10:29

We have one in the house we moved into. I can’t wait to get rid of it. I’m surprised to see the love for them here.

Things get lost in the big freezer drawers. But it is the fridge that irritates me most. You have to open both doors to get to the drawers. And if you close them in the wrong order they don’t always seal properly so the fridge isn’t properly closed. We had an American fridge freezer in our old house and it was so much better.
