Bought some today, as been told it’s a great thirst quencher.

Erm, it’s a ‘Nope’ from me!

It’s repulsive…its like what i imagine dirty dish water tastes like.

So you've clearly never even tried it

I tried both. I can attest it does not taste like it😂
Even the bad brands

Sunshineandgrapefruit · 03/06/2025 18:09

I love it. It's better fresh from the coconut though!

Ninkynonkpinkyponks · 03/06/2025 18:13

I think everyone who hates it is expecting it to taste like the inside of a bounty. Which is not realistic!!

I wasn’t expecting it to taste like a bounty but I thought it would taste of coconut, rather than tropical sweat.

Done41 · 03/06/2025 18:49

Much prefer my coconut flavour in a pina colada 😂
It’s not great no, I also tried the Aloe Vera juice 🤢 last one I’ll be buying!

Terri926 · 03/06/2025 18:54

I love coconut water fresh from a chilled coconut. But some of the ones in the uk are not good at all.

Lollygaggle · 03/06/2025 18:55

With my dentist hat on even the no added sugar coconut waters have around 3 teaspoons of sugar per serving , so keep it to meal times.

Isn't that similar to banana?

Yes, I heard it's full of sugar too. I quite like Lidl's Collagen mint water, I find it really hydrating.

Thunderpants88 · 05/06/2025 12:25

Husband loves it.

I loathe it. And I love coconut

But bananas sugar is inside cell walls , like any whole fruit. Fruit sugar only becomes a problem when either dried, like raisins, or liquidised like smoothies and juices then it is as bad as sweets and coke for your teeth.

REP22 · 05/06/2025 15:52

Lidl used to sell a Calippo-type ice lolly made with coconut water. Lovely. Must look to see if they still sell it...

BigJanette I’m the same - love coconut. I was really expecting to like coconut water but it wasn’t nice at all!

Same here.

Travelled round India for a month and only had one sip of it, enough to discover I hated it! Safer than drinking the water in some places though.

ElliotNess · 05/06/2025 16:02

I don’t enjoy it, but that’s because I keep expecting it to taste like a Bounty bar. 😅

ElliotNess · 05/06/2025 16:03

@NinkynonkpinkyponksHaha, you’ve beaten me to it my many days! 😅

TatteredAndTorn · 05/06/2025 23:14

Yes I’m actually drinking some right now!

SnugWriter · 05/06/2025 23:29

Im from SE Asia.. Love it! Freshly cut from the coconut tree especially the young coconuts tastes heavenly. Supposed to be a cure if you got poisoning.
None of the ones from cartoon taste nice. They dont taste the same at all!

measureofmydreams · 05/06/2025 23:32

I like it, I find it refreshing.

CakeBakeC0mpetiti9nL0cal · 05/06/2025 23:39

Fresh cut green coconut approx 30 pence from a market in a hot foreign country are delicious !

£3.50 for a fresh coconut in UK supermarket, does not compare at all

I do not like the tetra packs or cans either

Similarly, fresh oranges eaten in a country where they are grown are delicious

Stored, dry oranges are horrible

PizzaSophiaLoren · 05/06/2025 23:45

I love it. Feel refreshed and healthy after drinking.

BigJanette · 04/08/2025 10:26

Just coming back to update!
I've persevered (the things I do for MN! 😆 - awaits my gold pin in the post)
and tried a few different varieties.
I've come to the conclusion that I'll never love it because it tastes nothing like pina colada 🍹 but I have found one that is OK!
I know, I know, there's no law that states I have to drink the stuff but I just couldn't get my head around the fact that it didn't taste like I wanted it to expected.
Anyway, it's the Vita Coco 'Extra coconut' one.
I am drinking a glass right now - cheers!

Cheers @BigJanette!
Thanks for the update, glad to hear you found something more palatable!
I too find coconut water really hard to choke down so will keep an eye out for Vita Coco (extra coconut).
I like the sound of the ' extra coconut', that must be what does it!

JudyP · 04/08/2025 17:15

I like it but we lived in Asia for a while and it’s v common there - I actually prefer it room temp not chilled which is weird for me - also I have to drink it slowly as if I chug it it can make me v queasy!

wizzywig · 04/08/2025 17:21

Going to try it in this ginger shot drink claude.ai/public/artifacts/1d698b6a-bf50-49f4-8d38-f50dac2d9019
