I'm just finishing my first cuppa, in my kitchen spot, in peace and quiet. The washer's on & I've put the pots away already, I'll wash up shortly and have a tidy round down here.

We haven't really got much planned for the day, I don't think. I do want to nip to Lidl at some point for some flowers for a colleague who is leaving tomorrow, and some fruit for my breakfasts. One of the girls will have a walk with me - not sure which yet. I don't think they'll both want to, but maybe they will!

I'll list some things on Vinted through the day and hopefully get round to actually putting the (different!) pink dye I bought on my hair later on.

I've no idea what we're having for tea, no-one got anything out of the freezer last night, so I'll have a rummage shortly for something. Maybe something chickeny 🤔.

After that it'll be early ish showers all round; self-care-Sunday scrubby everything shower for me. I'll fix my toe nail polish that I smudged before going out yesterday, & maybe top up my false tan. Then an early night ready for the last week of term 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Just about to make a pot of coffee. I have a 1500 word essay due in on Wednesday and I’m about halfway through it. Plan to get it done then I can check through on Tuesday and tweak.

Weather is a bit pants today so a good day to crack it.

twistyizzy · 18/05/2025 09:26

Morning.
Back to Belsay Horse Trials and hopefully more Pimms!
House is a tip but the dust and mess will still be there when I get home so I'm ignoring it!

DaphneduM · 18/05/2025 09:28

I've already had coffee outside in the back garden - watching house martins dipping and weaving across the sky, and listening to doves cooing.

Inside now watching the Pope's inauguration - such beautiful music and singing.

My poor husband is putting a new roof on our shed, which has been stressful as the previous owner did a lean-to attached to our house, with a concrete base. Therefore I'll show solidarity later and be out the back also doing some strimming, planting up some pots for the back terrace and I think I'll take some rose cuttings too. I've never tried that before.

About to have 'breakfast' the remains of an Indian takeaway last night - eaten cold - garlic naan, prawn bhuna, brinjal bhaji - delicious!

SmallSnooze · 18/05/2025 09:30

I have a long to-do list today, which I'd love to ignore and just craft all day, but I can't sadly.

Have put the washing on (new bedding which will go on the line) and have indoor plants to repot today, and outdoor plants to plant too. It's sunny but freezing as usual for my corner of Scotland.

I'll need an everything shower tonight too. Last week I didn't bother and had to get up earlier than usual before work on Monday and massively regretted that, so I'll be sure to stick to the plan today and learn from my regret!

DW is out walking the dogs and I'm about to make us breakfast for her return.

kalokagathos · 18/05/2025 09:31

Just finished bootcamp training in the local park (good turnout some 50 people today on the field), about to jump in the shower and have a lovely protein based (scrambled with tofu and salmon) breakfast with Turkish coffee. Can’t wait! Then dress, makeup, drive up to London Polish Embassy to vote in Polish presidential election (dual citizen). Then drive back to Kent, cook some quick lunch, help my daughter with her GCSE revision followed by my own web based Power BI course and mandatory AI training for work. Then hoover the house, prep for a presentation I have tomorrow at 9:30. Phew! Busy!

Natsku · 18/05/2025 09:34

Having some lunch now and then I'm taking DS to a children's sports/activities event and after that we might go check out the new cafe that just opened in town that promises home made gluten free products.

Need to dig out DS's swimming stuff later as he's got swimming this week at school.

daffodilandtulip · 18/05/2025 09:35

I need to do nothing today. I'm exhausted. Been working ridiculous hours (looking at you Bridget) plus having building work done.

Last week for the work but it's a full on week and I've spotted some crappy bits I need to challenge them on, which is making me anxious.

Off for a week after next weekend so the jobs can wait. A day reading in the sun today.

Just popped sone chicken in to marinate for skewers for tea, and got a huge catch up TV list to work through this evening.

gemdrop84 · 18/05/2025 09:36

I'm still in bed, and not long woken up, after having a much needed sleep. My Dad has been critically ill in hospital; he is much better and awake so they are moving him out on intensive care. Last night is the first night I could relax properly and I think my body has caught up on the sleep I haven't had over the last two weeks.
I'm staying in here with my cup of tea and my book for a bit longer then onto the washing...enjoy your Sunday.

BulldogMumma · 18/05/2025 09:36

I’m eating peanut butter on toast and will have my second coffee shortly.
I have a mountain of washing to get through today and the house needs a clean.
This afternoon I’m nipping to primark and to H Samuel to see if my wedding ring has arrived.
DP is getting ready to go for a run, DD is playing in her room and older DD’s are in bed.
Not sure what’s for tea yet then it’ll be showers all round, a face and foot pack for me and a glass of wine watching BGT

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 18/05/2025 09:39

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I was up at seven - a long lie for me - and had two coffees then a cuppa with two small slices of cranberry and walnut bread. I've tidied up the kitchen and hoovered and I'm sitting with another cuppa. In a little while dd and the boys will arrive for a visit. Because of my cataract op last Monday, I've been nowhere and seen no-one, so I'm looking forward to their visit. My second eye will be done in June which is great news. Dinner will be a Tesco one of ham hock gratin with cauliflower cheese. Then strawberries and cream. Enjoy your day all

gingercat02 · 18/05/2025 09:41

Morning @lucysmam
Grey and chilly here. DH and I are having breakfast, I'm going to PiYo and he's going for a run.
Showers, lunch, F1 for all of us, then DH and DS will watch the Newcastle game.
I might have a couple of hours in the garden if it warms up.
Fajitas for tea and then get sorted for work and 6th form.
One week until half-term 😁

frozendaisy · 18/05/2025 09:46

Good morning all you lovely free people!

I am enjoying the calm before the storm! Lost track of coffee numbers, it's doesn't matter right now.

Then I shall be relearning my GCSE Chemistry syllabus! ("cooking is kinda like chemistry with food mum") - yeah sort of!
And trying to establish an answer for "yeah if you get describe how the author reflects on the supernatural" - erm weave it into ghosts?

Making a mexican buffet.

Getting everyone ready for early start to drop eldest to chemistry exam in morning (at least there are no practicals so nothing will go boom! there's that I suppose :-) )

Donewiththisshit · 18/05/2025 09:47

First day off for 5 weeks. Lying in bed drinking coffee and wasting time doom scrolling. Want to walk the dog, go to the gym and clean. Often end up doing none of it so glad to have this thread to focus my mind!

vodkaredbullgirl · 18/05/2025 09:48

Sat outside having a cuppa, listening to next doors little boy splashing the dog with water. Got to sort the garden out today, see to my veg patch.

Sonolanona · 18/05/2025 09:59

Had a nice dog walk over the fields. Saw deer (but not close enough for my dog to notice, thankfully) . Hung out some washing and am now having a coffee.
Dh is taking DS2 to his SN rugby, while I have a game of squash at 12, and will then head, sweaty and disgusting , to my allotment to do some weeding and repotting and talk to my veggies😁DH has saturdays to kayak and I play squash on sundays so we each have ' our' sport time.
Then one of us will take the dog out again for a nice long walk in the woods.
The rest of the day is shower, dinner, maybe practice some guitar and then settle in for the evening as I've just rewatched Buffy all the way through and am now on Angel :)
Also need to ring my DS1 in Australia and my Mum in the uk!

Myblueclematis · 18/05/2025 10:09

Been up since 7 ish, sun and blue skies have just appeared, fed the birds, opened shed and garage doors up, will be going to friend's house later on where we will either walk to the shops at the beach or sit in her garden and admire her plants and flowers that her husband lovingly tends.

Later when I get home I will water the plants in pots, carry on admiring my beautiful roses and sit in the garden with a gin and soda while I get something to eat.

That's it! 😁

GottaWork · 18/05/2025 10:16

Solidarity @NachoCheesed Ive also got an essay to finish due Wednesday.

DH is on chores duty today. He’s doing laundry and having a sort and tidy of the lounge.

I will walk DDog later and generally procrastinate the essay! My kitchen table is cluttered and the fridge needs a clear out.

Fish tacos for dinner.

Crunchymum · 18/05/2025 10:17

Hi lucysmam and the rest of the Sunday posse.

We're in the middle of homework / chores here and the shopping is due anytime.

DD's are off to visit their cousins today with DP (SIL lives about an hour away) so they'll be heading off about 11 and won't be back to until later.

Eldest had already been invited to a party so I'm staying home as I need to drop and collect him (he's actually going out for dinner with the birthday boy after the party as well) So not only will I have a good few hours to myself, I only need to sort our food for myself today. Pad Thai for dinner it is 😋

DilemmaDelilah · 18/05/2025 10:21

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I woke up with a headache again today, but even worse with backache! I think it's probably a strain from hanging the new curtains in the little spare room yesterday.

Mr Dilemma pointed out that it is the first time since we moved into our 4 bedroomed house over 12 years ago that we have actually had 4 bedrooms! When we moved in the littlest room was taken over by Mr Dilemma as a dressing room. Then we transformed it into an office for me around 2021 as I was working permanently from home and he had retired so did not (officially) need so many clothes. All the decorating dramas are over, for the moment and it looks very pretty, in my opinion. Mr Dilemma does not like pink, but he doesn't need to sleep in there.

My plan for today is to recover the seat for the little Lloyd loom style chair we picked up yesterday. It smells a little musty, but it is sprung rather than just a cushion so I don't really want to take it apart. We put it outside in the sun and the breeze yesterday, and gave it a spray of febreze. I'm hoping that a few hours outside today will solve the problem. I don't really want to have to take it back to the springs and have to add in wadding and base cloth and whatever. My upholstery 'skills' are entirely self-taught so very basic indeed. All that - of course - entirely depends on how my back is later on.

I was awake at 6 and cooked us both bacon and eggs at 6.45 before going back to bed with a hot water bottle. Mr Dilemma is dropping my sleep studies pack back to the Hospital before going to Lidl to see if they have any veg boxes. @lucysmam we got some really nice British strawberries there yesterday. They were very ripe so I'm hoping there might be some in a veg box just on the verge of going over.... Last year I managed to get a veg box with 3 cartons of strawberries and made a very simple (barely cooked) strawberry compote which I froze and used with good vanilla ice cream and meringues for a family lunch later in the year. It was absolutely delicious!

I obviously haven't managed to do my self-imposed 9am up and dressed retirement schedule today, but I think my rather large dose of painkillers and hot water bottle may have worked on my back (I still have the headache) so I'm about to fling on some sort of clothes and go down to sniff the chair seat. If I'm not going anywhere I don't put on my bra and fake boob (so uncomfortable!)
so it will be a case of just putting on something comfortable that covers up the bits that matter. Mr Dilemma is, thank goodness, very understanding about it.

JingsMahBucket · 18/05/2025 10:46

Good morning @lucysmam and the Sunday crew. Yesterday was such a full day that I completely passed out in bed last night and slept all the way through to 6:15am this morning. I think I actually woke up in the same position I fell asleep in. 😂 That may explain why I'm really sore today but I attribute that to lugging groceries around yesterday morning.

Anyway, my focus today is to do some writing especially because I didn't yesterday. @GottaWork I feel your pain. I have a newsletter to finish and a project proposal to start working on. But my body wants to crawl back into bed and my mind wants to head outside to enjoy the sun. Harrumph. At some point I should do some washing because the laundry hamper is starting to get backed up.

You know what, I'm going to shut my eyes for a bit and start my morning all over again in an hour. I'm beat! Have a good day everyone!

Zippedydodah · 18/05/2025 10:52

Good morning everyone from a sunny hillside, it was very murky earlier.
We had my favourite dog walk first thing after my Sainsbury’s delivery, very peaceful and the dogs loved it as usual. It’s a 10 minute drive from here, wide open spaces and a pretty woodland. Both dogs are sound asleep, DH has gone to the village for his usual Sunday coffee and gossip with anyone who stands around long enough 🙄
I need to have a tidy up and swish a duster around, a large pork joint is slow roasting in the oven and I don’t feel motivated to do much more!
An afternoon in my summerhouse beckons I think!

Topsy44 · 18/05/2025 11:07

Good morning All,

Went to bed late for me as I was watching Eurovision, then woke up at my usual 5am (due to menopause) but thankfully eventually managed to get back to sleep again and didn’t wake up until 10.
An easy day planned as DD and I were out all day yesterday and I need to get washing and hoovering done. Maybe read my book out in the garden later but at the moment weather is a bit cloudy here.
One more week to half term and I’ve got the Tue off of that from work so the thought of a long weekend is keeping me going😀.
Hope all have good Sundays.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 18/05/2025 11:22

Laundry........always laundry........

I'm currently 3 days into a calorie controlled diet to try to shift some pounds before my holiday next month......so of course all I can think about is food 🤣

Have the tesco shop due soon with lots of healthy snacks at least.

Would like to go to the gym, but my ankle is giving me bother and I can't risk messing it up as I teach karate 3 days a week so need to have 2 working feet 😁

Rainbow1235 · 18/05/2025 11:53

Good morning ( just ) Just bak from a car boot sale it was packed out . Took my grandson and he cost me a fortune but is happily sat on patio playing with his new toys . Hopefully sit and read my book later as it’s a beautiful day here again . And thinking Chinese later with a few wines . Enj your day everyone

MysweetAudrina · 18/05/2025 12:08

Up early. Journaled, fed pets, made a mug of cacao. Tidied a bit and shaved legs. Dropped off to the gym and am getting my nails done. I'll collect her and do a food shop next. Warm yin yoga later and a dog walk. Taking it easy today.
