CO OP Completely Empty

How's your local Co Op ? Ours is mostly empty apart from a few bits here and there on various shelves. Fridges are completely empty. I think Co Op have handled this situation shocking, in our area we didn't know anything was wrong as they said they had fridge issues and deliveries were late arriving. I popped in after work for gin thankfully they had that or I would have lost my shit at those cyber hackers 😅

M&S sent an email apologising and updates. Nothing like that from Co Op not even an apology email for our data being stolen 🙄

I got my meal deal from the local one here and they seemed v well stocked on nearly everything.
Not super remote either.

In ours yesterday, I couldn't make up a meal deal. Plenty of sandwiches, but no sugar free soft drinks at all (not even water), no mainstream crisp flavours etc. Sandwiches must come via a different supplier/delivery system. They had no fruit nor vegetables either, no fresh milk, no fresh bread/rolls - nothing at all. It really was like a plague of locusts had been through it. But you were OK if you wanted a chicken sandwich!

I think they deliver to most supermarkets don't they? I.e. Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury, Tesco, Aldi, Boots, WH Smith, etc. as well as petrol stations and other smaller chains of convenience stores.

Yes.... One memorable day at work a young lad came one the headset..
"We have a problem!!"
"What??!"
"We've had Morrisons sandwiches left!!" 🤣 🤣 🤣
Cue a quick phone call and the delivery driver came back!!

We went into our local big co-op today not expecting much, there were gaps on some shelves but plenty of fresh food, dairy and bread. We are an island though which I believe they’ve prioritised in restocking, given our lack of other options.

Yes essentials are available such as bread, fresh food and milk all three of our local stores.

Went into ours earlier today. They had "some" milk and bread, but not a full range - strangely a full wheeled rack of 6 pint semi skimmed milk, but no smaller packs and no unskimmed or normal. Still no fresh fruit and veg, but a full stand of cut flowers! Very quiet - only 1 car in the car park which is usually at least half full. An awful lot of discounted short dated stuff in the fridges - ready meals, pies, quiches, sandwiches, pasta bowls, etc. Fridge absolutely full of sandwiches which isn't surprising as they still have no soft drinks nor crisps to make up a meal deal for lunch! I suspect customers havn't been going in to do any shopping in the knowledge they don't have a full range, so regular customers are going elsewhere now, hence the sheer quantity of stuff having to be sold off cheap before it goes out of date. A kind of double whammy against their profits really. Lots of gaps in the packets/tins and chocolate bar/sweets shelves too now which previously seemed to have been holding up quite well. It really doesn't look to be getting any better.

I'm beginning to wonder why our Co Op bothers opening. There's virtually nothing in there now. They must be losing millions. Considering there are lots of wholesalers and suppliers for basics like crisps, it's pretty ridiculous they don't have a single packet for sale. They really should have had new distribution lines in place by now.

no milk in my coop tonight!

HonoriaBulstrode · 19/05/2025 19:01

Mine was reasonably well stocked yesterday. It often is a bit empty on a Sunday, as they get their main deliveries early in tthe week. But no loo rolls!

Presumably it's not about distribution lines but stock taking and accounting?
