I'm just drinking my cuppa, in my kitchen spot. Boy cat's curled up on the chair opposite mine, after his breakfast. Only kicked him out of the bedroom once, at 6am mind, for mountaineering! He came straight back & snuggled up with me. No idea if he went back to sleep, but I did!

Dd2's up already, she's off out to meet one of her friends for a while then maybe come back here for a few hours. It's not Tesco meal deal picnic friend so I'm not really sure what they have planned.

Noone else has plans, I don't think. Dd1 worked yesterday so will probably be in bed for a while longer & really needs to up her revision game for her upcoming A levels.

I'm going to have a very lazy day doing as little as possible, apart from some crafting and maybe some reading. I've stalled on the last few pages of my current book, haven't picked it up in a while, so maybe today's the day I finish it. I do want to list some things on Vinted too, at some point.

Tea will be bangers & mash I think, with Easter chocolate for afters for me 😋. I might have a glass of wine too...if I cba to go and buy it first!

After that it'll be my usual Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower followed by more nothing much & a nice early night after last night's late one 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

We’ve had a slow morning so far - a sleep-in and pancakes for breakfast. Now getting ready to take DD to a birthday party. DH is going to stay at home with DS who has a cold that’s not bad enough to incapacitate him, but bad enough that I don’t want to set him loose among a load of other kids!

Muteswan · 04/05/2025 09:54

I'm currently drinking coffee in bed with napping DD2 who has decided she'll only stay asleep while feeding. DD1 and DH are downstairs watching The Gruffalo after a night of camping in the back garden! Yesterday was a busy and tiring day so other than a bike or scooter ride we'll probably stay in, and probably do some more of DD1s latest crafty project.

GottaWork · 04/05/2025 10:04

Morning @lucysmam . I woke up late. Just having coffee and contemplating what to do first.

DH and I got back from a week away yesterday so there is laundry and general unpacking.

We have a new bed arriving on Tuesday so we need to do a lot of clearing of the bedroom. Also need to fit in a food shop and walking DDog.

Whiskyfromsmallglasses · 04/05/2025 10:05

Good morning. Well my ds 13 is away with my ex husband camping for the weekend. So I have some very rare time to myself. Yesterday I got all my jobs done and out of the way so I can enjoy the long bank holiday weekend. I'm up and just finishing my breakfast then I'm going to head along the coast there is about three different options for what I can do and I can't decide on any of them. Once I get back I will have a glass or two of wine and either read or continue with the series I've started. Hope everyone enjoys their day 🙂

TranceNation · 04/05/2025 10:06

Not sure really. We've had breakfast. ds is currently doing his online maths tutorial. Got no real plans to do anything but will probably get out the house and do something if it's going to be another sunny day. Yesterday we went to the beach for the afternoon which was nice but not keen on doing it again today. At some point this weekend I need to pop into town and get my ds some new shorts as it seems he's grown out of the shorts he had last summer but don't really want to traipse around town in the sun. Tomorrow's forecast is a bit more overcast so I think tomorrow will be perfect for that. Anyway the beds need stripping and put in the wash so will go do that whilst deliberating what we will do with our day today.

Morning, I'm in Madrid, getting very excited to see Jack Draper in the final this afternoon. Eldest son bought VIP tickets for Christmas present....Top lad 😁

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 04/05/2025 10:09

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I've been up since eight and had two coffees and a croissant. I'm heading out soon for second breakfast/brunch with a friend. Once back home, I'll get the ironing done and then potter. Gammon for dinner tonight. Enjoy your day all

gingercat02 · 04/05/2025 10:11

Morning all. Our garden project is done and very lovely, so a bit of a chill day.
I'm off to my class, DH is going for a run and it would appear DS is in the shower, very early appearance for a nearly 17yo!
Footie on tv this afternoon, the race for 2nd is real! F1 tonight so just tootling about in between. Oh and catching up on the washing as our wm died and has now been replaced.
The weather is a bit crap so a day at home is quite appealing.
Something nice for tea as yet undecided
BH tomorrow so another long weekend

Zippedydodah · 04/05/2025 10:17

Good morning everyone, it’s much cooler here today- I really don’t like hot weather.
I walked ZDog2 first thing, it was very peaceful, we didn’t see a soul.
I have just done the ironing and put it away, cleaned the kitchen and sorted out dinner so that’s as much as I intend to do for now!
DH is taking ZDog1 for their usual Sunday morning wander, around the village and stopping for a coffee, she’ll need a longer walk later so I will have a think about where to take her, possibly across the fields to the parkland that belongs to a big hotel. It’s smothered in cowslips, an amazing sight and smell.
I’m going to take my art stuff down to my summerhouse and do some watercolour painting (badly because I don’t practice but keep expecting to produce something decent!). I expect ZDog2 will join me. I will probably do more crochet at some point while listening to an audiobook.
All very laid back 😊

tobee · 04/05/2025 10:17

I'm drinking tea having just had scrambled eggs on toast. I've got some Australian paramedic programme on in the background 😟

I've got a horrible head cold that's now developing a cough and have just swapped with my dsis so she sees elderly dparents today instead of me.

Everyone else in the house is quietly in their bedrooms.

Thinking of putting together a light meal for dinner as we have a birthday lunch to attend tomorrow.

Probably just chill and let my cold play out other than that.

The weather here is sunny but much cooler today

Rainbow1235 · 04/05/2025 10:26

Morning all another quiet day just sitting with my dad and getting some jobs done for him . Will come back home later to do dinner as he’s not eating and I won’t eat in front of him then back Dwn to sleep there . Il be taking wine of course x

MissMarplesNiece · 04/05/2025 10:28

Good morning all. A nice quiet day planned here, I've had a most horrible head cold this week that's lingering. I'm cooking lunch today - stuffed pancakes - but other than that my plan is lots of reading, a bit of piano practise and a glass of wine. Later I'll watch The Piano and wonder why my fingers won't move as fast and accurately across the keyboard as the fingers of programme's contestants do.

I've got some material to make cushion covers. If I feel energetic later I might measure and cut them out ready for sewing in the week.

BigCheese24 · 04/05/2025 10:30

I’m going to my mums (she lives 1hr away) for a sleepover as I’m off work tomorrow for the bank holiday. She has bowel cancer and on Wednesday she’s getting scans to see if the cancer has spread. I’m really not sure what life will look like after Wednesday, so I’m really going to try and make the most of this bank holiday with my mum.

Hoppinggreen · 04/05/2025 10:34

Chilling out with the cat, I lost "my" cat a few month ago and DD's cat has lost DD as she has gone to Uni so we are both figuring out how much we love eachother now.
I am going to get DS up shortly and he has friends coming over, they have GCSE's starting next week but all us Parents have decided a day off will do them good
We are invited to a BBQ at a neighbours later, they are big drinkers but we aren't so we will leave when it gets a bit rowdy (they are lovely and no trouble but he REALLY drinks and we don't drink much)
Probably end the eveing in the hot tub

DilemmaDelilah · 04/05/2025 10:37

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I went to sleep some time after 2.30 this morning and was awake at 5.45, so I'm not at my best this morning! Having said that, I was up and dressed by 7.45 and I cooked us bacon and eggs for breakfast. Mr Dilemma took the laminate floor up in my former office last week and he bundled that up this morning with some other bits and has gone to the tip with them. I have made a batch of cheese scones, as the last lot were so nice, and they are in the oven at the moment.

My elderly cat has been out enjoying the early morning sun in the garden several times this morning returning only, it seems, to use her litter tray. Or rather to use the floor around her litter tray. She has an endearing (not) habit of managing to place all 4 paws in the litter tray whilst hanging her rear end over the side. We go through a lot of puppy pads......

Having done a BIG tidy up of the stationery cupboard yesterday without too many 'discussions' and managing to give away two lots of stuff yesterday evening, I'm feeling quite virtuous today. I have put my office chair on Facebook - if nobody wants it that will go to the tip as well. I have some IKEA wire mesh storage in there that needs to go - but not urgently as it doesn't need to be taken out to fit the carpet - but I might have a go at emptying that so I can offer it as well.

Goodness - I AM feeling virtuous today!

DilemmaDelilah · 04/05/2025 10:39

Today's cheese scones...

Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?
Crunchymum · 04/05/2025 10:39

I missed yesterday's thread, had a mega busy day!

Today is a much easier day. DP has taken all 3 DC to the big swimming pool with the slides and wave machine and then he is taking them to meet his brother and his kids so all the cousins can have a run around at the adventure playground / wear themselves out. They were grabbing bits for a picnic but weather has taken a turn here (14c after glorious weather last week)

I'm home alone so plan to read a bit of my book, watch some of the new series of "You" and generally relax. Although I have shopping due anytime and I wanted to make some sauce and meatballs for dinner later. I'm saving most of the chores for tomorrow!!

We'll stick a film on later and just have a quiet evening.

Taytocrisps · 04/05/2025 10:42

I've dropped DD to work and I'm currently having breakfast out.

I want to buy some large planters for the garden and I've seen two online, but I want to look at them in the shop. Then I'll have a wander around the garden centre and plan what I'll plant in the planters. But I won't actually plant anything until 1st June, in case a late frost kills them off.

Then (less fun) the weekly food shop in Tesco.

I'll do some laundry when I get home and prepare dinner. If I get time, I'll clear out one or two of last year's plant pots, which are sprouting weeds. If it stays sunny, I'll read in the sun for half an hour or so. It"s all about the garden right now.

BrightOrangeDahlias · 04/05/2025 10:43

We're up early (for us!) for a Sunday. I sold some things on fb yesterday so I've had a couple of people coming round to collect things already. I've got a mountain of ironing to get through so am just about to start that, I'll probably watch Friday's Gardener's World while I do it. And I've got a sourdough loaf on the go (I'm at the stretch and fold stage so it needs attention every half hour). The DCs are playing somewhere upstairs and DH has just made a pot of coffee before he goes out to do some gardening. It's a pottering sort of day today, my favourite.

coldscottishmum · 04/05/2025 10:43

Good morning everyone! I had horrible pregnancy insomnia last night so a rubbish sleep and both kids were up at 6am. I’ve cooked chicken for DH’s lunch at work for the next 2 days, got petrol, youngest DS having a nap and school uniform for Tuesday washed, dried and ironed. Today is a laundry day and tidy up. DH is at football, so I might take the boys to the park later on.

Titsywoo · 04/05/2025 10:43

Morning!

I'm on day 2 of a weekend to myself (DD back at uni, DS at a friends for the long weekend and DH working away). Today I'm finishing cleaning the windows, doing some more gardening, bit of house cleaning then relaxing on the sofa with my book for the evening.

InglouriousBasterd · 04/05/2025 10:54

Morning all! Still in bed with a coffee, actually slept in today!

DD still asleep, but we’re heading into town a bit later as I want her to actually try on all of the clothes she’s put on her birthday wish list. Will probably have lunch in a cafe whilst we’re out!

Toad in the hole and roasted veg for dinner, might treat myself to a late night and a film!

OneLilacEagle · 04/05/2025 10:56

Morning all! Feeling a bit more upbeat today, thank goodness. I've just finished a coffee in the garden but the sun went in and it was freezing! Stripped the beds so various loads of laundry to do over the day plus a ton of stuff to put away from the course of the week. We've meal planned and DH is at the shops now while I faff and DS games 😆. We'll head out to the garden centre when he gets home to pick up some supplies for our new veg patch. @DilemmaDelilah I'm inspired by your delicious looking scones, so I might make some to go with soup for lunch. A gardening afternoon, then a Middle Eastern bean stew for dinner, with wine and cross stitch for afters.

FayKnights · 04/05/2025 11:10

Morning Lucysmam and the Sunday Gang.

I had a little lie-in this morning, and just on my first cuppa. Our friends have a motor home and are currently on the coast, so we popped down to visit them and I was knackered when we got back. All that lovely sea air!

The biggest DS returned from university on Friday and starts his new job on Tuesday, so wants me to join him on a shopping trip for some new threads. Very excited for him and his next phase.

Other than that dogs need waking and house needs a tidy. DH has booked himself out for the day as there some big footy Scottish match he wants to watch at our local. We are in SE England and I do feel sorry for him that he misses going to see the games in person.

Have a great Sunday all.

claudiawinklemansfringetrimmer · 04/05/2025 12:18

Those scones look amazing @DilemmaDelilah ! Love a cheese scone

Had a little lie in this morning as DS slept in til 7.30! Pootled around doing some jobs this morning and now the in laws are here for lunch- hot dogs then rhubarb crumble and ice cream. DD wants to go for a ride in grandad’s car this afternoon as she can sit in the front there (her car seat “doesn’t work” in the front seat of our car 😂)

Im going to the evensong service at church tonight then DH and I will watch the new Taskmaster, possibly with a cocktails.
