Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my cuppa, in my kitchen spot. Boy cat's curled up on the chair opposite mine, after his breakfast. Only kicked him out of the bedroom once, at 6am mind, for mountaineering! He came straight back & snuggled up with me. No idea if he went back to sleep, but I did!

Dd2's up already, she's off out to meet one of her friends for a while then maybe come back here for a few hours. It's not Tesco meal deal picnic friend so I'm not really sure what they have planned.

Noone else has plans, I don't think. Dd1 worked yesterday so will probably be in bed for a while longer & really needs to up her revision game for her upcoming A levels.

I'm going to have a very lazy day doing as little as possible, apart from some crafting and maybe some reading. I've stalled on the last few pages of my current book, haven't picked it up in a while, so maybe today's the day I finish it. I do want to list some things on Vinted too, at some point.

Tea will be bangers & mash I think, with Easter chocolate for afters for me 😋. I might have a glass of wine too...if I cba to go and buy it first!

After that it'll be my usual Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower followed by more nothing much & a nice early night after last night's late one 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

Afternoon all.

I was awake early to sort DS and send him off to his game. But then went back to bed with the intention of reading but fell asleep. 😴

DH has just made some burgers on the bbq and they are lovely. I’m watching football and intend to have a quiet day after they. Reading and dozing are on the cards.

Had a fab day out yesterday with the girls and home by 8.30 so feel ok. Day drinking is the way to go 😂

Think that’s the plan for everyone in the house today. Having a quiet one I mean not day drinking!

DH is being a star and has made soup and plans to make toad in the hole after that for tea. I feel bad as he isn’t off tomorrow but he said he’s in the mood to cook!

Cosycover · 04/05/2025 12:36

Just me and my 2 kids in just now. Youngest is gaming. Oldest is still asleep! They are off until Wednesday. I don't get bank hols so I'm back at work tomorrow. DH has been away with friends this weekend. He will come home very tired in a few hours. Will probably order a takeaway for dinner and watch 'You'.

I’m full of cold but have ventured to Waitrose for some nice supplies. I have had a peaceful weekend but have got some work done as postponed it in the week. I cancelled dp as we were going to do cinema last night but I needed to catch up on work. Later will be a country dog walk then my teens will return from their dads and normality will resume. I’m off to hang out the washing in the sunshine.

Late to the party - sleeping a lot since my fracture. Bruises are really coming out now! Just about to brave Tescos or rather DH is. I’ll just go with him & stay in the car. We only need a few bits as had an Asda delivery on Friday evening. I feel guilty that he’s having to do so much although I can manage more than I thought with my left hand. It’s aching now! Hairwashing later should be interesting as I can’t get the brace wet. Sausages, roasties & peas for tea with microwaveable cauliflower cheese for me. DH will peel the spuds later. We have carrots but he’s not much of a fan so probably won’t bother even though I like them. Lovely weather here but there are black clouds lurking & thunder storms forecast. DH put some washing out earlier so we’ll keep an eye.

I was up early-ish to go to the garden centre for some strawberry plants and some new planters. Got 10 plants total, a mixture of varieties, and spent a happy hour or so getting them into the planters and well-watered.
Sandwiches for lunch and now just pottering. Bangers and mash for tea as well!

We went to visit FIL today to celebrate his 70th birthday. Got a nice picture of all the cousins with their great-grandmother.

Been messaging my mum about our plans for when she comes to visit in the summer and we go up to Lapland. Trying to persuade her to visit the amethyst mine because DS would absolutely love that - you get to dig for your own amethyst and take it home! She's not sure yet so I shall continue to work on her today Grin

Trying to decide what to cook today, and need to make my lunch for tomorrow but I'm feeling very lazy right now so I might just play some Stumble Guys instead.

Having a relaxing day today. We were at the footy yesterday watching our local team’s cup ceremony after winning the league a few weeks ago and ended up having more than a few drinks on our way home.

DH and I were planning on going for a meal today as it’s our 7th wedding anniversary tomorrow but the local restaurant we wanted to go to is closed and the other one we wanted to go to is a pain to get to with Sunday buses. DH is working night shift tomorrow so we’ve decided to go for our meal on Tuesday instead when better buses are on and he’s off work again. We’re still going to have a quiet night in together, maybe just a takeaway and some TV.

Joining in well after good morning,
Been running around since 8am this morning, largely trying to fit in baking burger buns, because they are the best apparently, but when you have potential 6 teen boys to feed later, at least 5, they have to be done in a few batches.

So enjoying a few minutes during the calm before the storm, when the teens are hosting a poker/darts afternoon, seemingly fuelled largely by pepsi max and diet coke, send help!

I am going to attempt to clear kitchen surfaces, covered in revision bits, hang a few laundry bits out and do a hundred upstairs downstairs relocating items with their correct homes.

Sunday Roast will be tomorrow so no one knows what day it is next week!

Afternoon all! I’ve had a lovely morning after mum and dad’s party last night which was great fun.

I got up without a hangover which was lucky and dropped DS1 and two friends to Thorpe Park for the day then popped into mum and dad’s on the way home as my little 20 month old nephew was there. He’s not been very well this week but he’s my little mate so we played and walked around d the garden for a couple of hours and let mum and dad and Sis and BIL recover from their hangovers!!

came home and had some leftover bits for lunch and am now lying on the sofa with DP watching football and I will probably stay all afternoon. Spaghetti Bol for dinner but it’s already made so just need to cook pasta when we’re all ready for it.

I've had a lovely, very peaceful, day, even with the extra teenager here all afternoon. Girl cat came for a quiet nap with me, then I got up and read for a while before I got the white acrylic paint out. I'll probably get it out again tomorrow, although I do need to reply to a couple of emails first & do a bit of reading for work.

We've just eaten so kitchen to tidy in a mo, then my scrubby shower, and maybe I'll read a bit more or untangle some more of my kitten toy yarn.

I hope you've all had a good day 😊

Met up with 3 of 4 daughters, 1 husband and 5 of 8 grandchildren at a house fairly local to me with gardens. Saw lambs and birds of prey, had a walk in arboretum and then enjoyed picnic and general catch up… don’t intend doing much tomorrow other than a walk locally along beach.

TheChosenTwo · 04/05/2025 19:16

Not morning now but I’ve had a lovely day!
went for a swim first thing, very windy and the water was super choppy but it was invigorating.
Home for a steak and eggs brunch.
Then we went to get some shopping supplies for dinner, popped in to see mil and took her some flowers as I spotted tulips and I think they’ll be gone soon. Home now, dh is cooking and I think I might find something to watch with ds for a while before dinner.

DilemmaDelilah · 04/05/2025 20:30

Update from me - SUCH a productive day! Cheese scones were delicious. Storage in former office emptied, photos taken, put on Facebook and all due to be picked up tomorrow morning. Feeling even more virtuous than I was this morning 😁

Giddykiddy · 05/05/2025 11:33

I'm retired so every day is like a bank holiday. I swam in the lake first thing with a group of lovely local ladies. It was calm as anything , the sun was shining and swans and snow geese bobbing around in the distance. Heaven.
Spoke to DD who's a bit under pressure so I've booked a flight tomorrow to help out for a couple of days with baby DGS.
For the rest of the day I'll be doing laundry and sanding and varnishing a bench in the garden. Steak, salad and baked potatoes for dinner.
