Going tomorrow and still a bit of a newbie, please give me your best recommendations on what to fill my trolley with Grin

Part baked rolls, rotisserie chicken, cookies, Lasagna, dirty fries.

ThejoyofNC · 02/05/2025 19:36

My advice is not to go wild with bulk buys. Ask yourself the following two questions before you put it in your trolley -

  1. Do I really need so many of this item?
  2. is it actually much cheaper than the supermarket?

But as for recommendations, anything from the bakery is delicious!

Sistedtwister · 02/05/2025 19:37

Frozen sweet potato fries, Cauliflower hash browns and flaming chicken nuggets.
Par Baked sour dough Baguettes
Forthglade dog food is really cheap
The fresh dirty fries are lively, as is the garlic bread.
Lemon drizzle loaf is to die for

Themagicfarawaytreeismyfav · 02/05/2025 19:39

Washing tablets, bottled water, fabric softener, lurpak butter

Changeissmall · 02/05/2025 19:40

We always get the packs of pastries or muffins. Cakes are amazing and MASSIVE so only if you have visitors planned.

The guacamole. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

bananabreadbatshit · 02/05/2025 19:44

Why is nobody saying toilet roll? 🤣

Chazbots · 02/05/2025 19:44

Cheese, nuts, dried fruit, mango chutney, olives, olive oil, washing powder, toilet roll, meat, tin foil, parchment paper, stationary, clothes, any of the special buys....

Victoria Sponges are lovely.

Enjoy.

I asked myself this a lot on my last visit, I could barely find anything that was working out cheaper than what I get in Asda!

My new favourite thing is their butter chicken. I also love their pears. Also love their mango smoothie.

DillyDallyingAllDay · 02/05/2025 19:47

Usually anything Kirkland brand is great and good value. I’d defo be price comparing with supermarkets for non perishable items- I’ve found that if they’re on offer at Costco they’ll be the cheapest around. If the same items are on offer at a supermarket they’ll tend to be cheaper than non-offer Costco prices but not always.

also, don’t be afraid to take them up on their no quibble refund policy- if you’re not happy with something take it back!

Killerqueenie · 02/05/2025 19:47

When we go we always buy the big bottle of maple syrup. It's so expensive to buy in normal shops for such a small amount.
Usually stock up on washing up stuff, the Kirkland bottle of laundry detergent lasts us months. Big box of dishwasher tablets.

I'm always tempted to buy their cookies in the baking section, they are so good, but I try to resist the temptation. We bought a box of Canadian maple leaf biscuits, they were the best biscuits I've ever had, but they weren't there last time, I was gutted 😭

Thank you. Haven’t bought cheese yet as it seemed to be huge packs and I wasn’t sure if I’d get through it all before with went off!

2 bite brownies

ForgettingMeNot · 02/05/2025 19:48

I’m found a lot of regular stuff is more expensive than the big supermarkets. The bakery and takeaway sections are delicious though

CoffeeBeansGalore · 02/05/2025 19:48

Bakery stuff lovely.
Frozen croissants are good. Come out lovely from the air fryer. Saw them recommended on here & tried them. Will be getting more!
Pork loin joints good value. Lovely for pulled pork or chops.
Aberdeen Angus Mince if you do your own lasagne/cottage pie/burgers/meat balls.
Some frozen burgers in white & purple packaging. Very tasty & good value.
Toilet rolls (Kirkland Signature, Costco own brand).
Blocks of cheese.
Washing powder.
Bin bags
Whole coffee beans. Grumpy mule is currently our favourite.

Pricelessadvice · 02/05/2025 19:48

We stock up on coffee mate, toilet and kitchen roll and bottled juices.
Love the cookies too!

DancingFerret · 02/05/2025 19:49

Frozen prawns - plain and garlic
Wookey Hole cheddar
Valfrutta tinned tomatoes are very flavourful
And fuel, of course

You do need to know what you normally pay elsewhere for whatever you intend to buy, as Costco prices can be higher than some supermarkets.

Also, we found them very competitive for tyres.

Washinglinewench29 · 02/05/2025 19:49

Cling film, it lasts years!! I'm not even joking!

Rocknrollstar · 02/05/2025 19:50

Toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, own brand washing machine liquid. We like the frozen spring rolls, jalapeño peppers. The fresh pizza is nice - we sometimes cook it all and freeze half. Don’t buy booze - it is overpriced.

Chazbots · 02/05/2025 19:52

We eat the cheese but don't worry about the end dates particularly.

Coffee, I forgot to include above, also like the Grumpy Mule.

DreamTheMoors · 02/05/2025 19:52

Years ago I bought some Armenian stuffed grape leaves.
To die for.
Don’t know if they still have them.

Kwa7 · 02/05/2025 19:54

The big packets of cheese (I like the Welsh one), we get one a month and it lasts (doesn’t go off). I find it cheaper and nicer than supermarket own brand.

I also buy the big bag of apples and cherry toms. They last ages too.

Cookerhood · 02/05/2025 19:56

The toilet roll.is rubbish now, it changed a couple of years ago. I bought some & thought I'd remembered it as good quality, whereas the new stuff leaves toilet roll crumbs all over your nethers! I happened to have an old roll lurking somewhere & they were completely different.
Of course it's possible they've changed it back but I'm not buying 48 loo rolls or whatever it is to find out.

WWomble · 02/05/2025 19:57

Loo roll
kitchen roll
cling film, foil etc
part baked bread
contigo/Avex water bottles, insulated cups
cases of chopped tomatoes, beans, apple juice, Diet Coke
big bottles of squash
chicken breasts and mince

not everything works out cheaper but the quality is usually better than supermarkets
