How much do you spend a year on holidays?

I've just booked a 5 night all inclusive trip to the Canaries for me and dh at a toltal cost of £850 (that includes insurance, airport transfers in Uk and Spain, flights and car hire). It feels very indulgent as we usually go on self catering family holidays but this is a treat to unwind and relax while ds 17 with autism and severe learning difficulties has repite.

We had a four night family break in January in the UK in a mobile home with a hot tub. DS and DD who is 19 came with us and it cost £260 (late deal)

We had a week in an apartment in Spain for february half term, that was just ds as dd was in uni. That cost £900 in total.

We are having a 12 night family trip to Belgium and The Netherlands at the end of August, we will be self catering and staying in a few locations which includes a few nights at a theme park - cost excluding food and fuel is £1500.

We may do something for October half term but that would be a cheap late deal in the uk.

We will probably spend around £4000 this year but it feels like we are getting a lot for that.

Our net household income is £33,000 we have no debt and have paid off our martgage. We value our holidays and can afford them by driving older cars and being frugal with things like eating out and clothes shopping. DH works full time and I'm a full time carer for DS, life can be challenging but we enjoy taking him away even though it requires a lot of planning.

I've just totted this up for us over the coming year, it's more than we've ever spent before, we have two weeks in Greece in the summer, a wedding long weekend in Italy then a week elsewhere in Europe Feb half term 26. It's about 9.6k. we earn around £110-120k between us though so as a percentage is probably less than yours.
Last year we did the Netherlands and a city break, and DH and I both had weekends away in the UK for a stag and hen less than 4k all in, so it fluctuates.

Not much at all at the moment. This year it will be 5 nights camping in the UK and that's it for the year. It will probably cost about £500 for 4 of us, including all food and petrol to get there.

If I had more money then I would spend a lot more on holidays and weekends away, but I don't.

About £500, next year we might try and do a Eurocamp abroad so maybe more like £1.5k

Mmm.. last year we had 7 holidays including 8 nights in Vegas and 3 family holidays 2ad & 2ch in peak summer months

We probably spend between 10k - 15k per year which is around 10% - 15% of our annual income.

Family holiday for 3 this year is about £5k. Normally we'd have had a couple of long weekends too, but this is our first year in school so just figuring out annual leave around school holidays

This year bout €35k including city breaks, spa weekends etc biggest expense is a big adventure holiday in Summer with family and a skiing trip.

I've been to Turkey all inclusive for £500 this year and will be going to Corfu for £400 in September. DD23 is with me on both trips and pays for herself as she's working. We've done a couple of day trips and spa breaks via Groupon and will probably fit in a UK seaside break at a B&B in August. I earn less than £30k so don't think I do too badly.

2023 we spent 8k (2 weeks in US in August, one of which was staying with family, 1 week Amsterdam/Efteling in May half term, and a long weekend camping.

2024 was 6.5k (2 weeks in US again, and 3 short breaks in the UK - Lakes, Peak District and Cornwall).

This year I'm estimating ~8k.

• 2k for 4 nights in Seville in January
• 1.5k for 2 nights Eurodisney at Easter
• £600 for a long weekend at the Hay festival in May
• 4k for 2 weeks in the Austrian Alps in August

These costs include all food, spends, and extras like insurance and airport parking. I think we get a decent amount for what we pay considering we are travelling during peak school holidays times. We generally prefer to have the freedom to do what we want so always self catering and hire a car or have some way of getting about.

How, @charabang and @JudithOnHolidayAgain are you finding all inclusive holidays so cheap?

We're not tied to school holidays, not fussy where we go as long as it's warm, and can't find anything AI for less than £1200.

Should have said all ours are in school holidays which explains the extortionate prices!!

Hideous amounts but tbh holidays are one of the things I enjoy most in life.
