A friend of mine I expected better of posted a video of the t8me Gullis made the same accusation on Facebook the other day. I refrained from comment as it would not have turned out well. Shows they know fuck all about Jess Phillips (who I don’t always like, but who is absolutely 100% sound on VAWG)

Yes you could accuse Jess Phillips of a lot of things - but never against the protection of females.

And she's plugging away at this issue to her own personal cost, too. She looks increasingly exhausted.

Great news in Canada today. Interesting piece in politics@lunch, with this bit about Liz Truss which made me actually snort with laughter:

That is despite anti-Carney forces in Canada tapping Liz Truss, the former UK prime minister and scourge of central bankers everywhere, to campaign on their behalf. Addressing a Canadian audience, Truss argued that Carney’s tenure as BoE governor “created a lot of the problems” that ultimately precipitated her downfall.

Is she still having security for the threats she received after Musk's interference?

I've not seen any updates since January but even if she had been able to relax a bit since then the renewed sniping will probably encourage some unsavoury types to have a go.

lol at Reform on Ch4 News debate. They haven’t got a track record of failure in local government because they have never been in a position to do anything. Bit like my track record of not crashing planes because I’ve never flown one.

Love that analogy!

I see the Reformites are gearing up on MN now in advance of Thursday.

I’ve been on a long walk over challenging terrain today and am in significant pain with lower back, hips and plantar fasciitis. I have consequently drunk too much gin and wine so will refrain from giving my inconveniently ‘in vino veritas’ opinion of the Sainted Kemi or Reform.
Well done Canada though. Elbows sufficiently up.

PandoraSocks · 29/04/2025 23:18

I sympathise Cardibach. I have a pesky sacroiliac joint issue which resents the gardening I have been doing. I may have had some wine.

PickAChew · 29/04/2025 23:29

Sounds like a grand day, @cardibach GinWineBrew

I've had vodka. Icelandic, not that Russian crap. Need to get my arse into bed because I've got an early start, tomorrow.

The Times reporting Aaron Banks tried to bribe Andrea Jenykins with £80k to join Reform before the election last year.
The evidence is WAs written by Jenkyns.
Both Banks and Jenkyns are now standing as Reform mayoral candidates.

Funnily enough Lee Anderson made the same allegation, being offered £80k to switch to Reform before then switching to Reform.

We don't agree on much caringcarer, but he is indeed an extremely handsome lad. Bet you have to hoover a lot though!

Edited

It was a grand day altogether, despite the discomfort at the end. All seems to have recovered overnight though! Little pic of one of the views. We walked to the Chartist Cave where members of the Chartists made and hid pikes before the Newport Rising. Could have been a proper revolution. The government of the day ordered soldiers to open fire on them, obvs.

Checking in and have been following.

So far two online orders cancelled, one from M&S and the other surprisingly Sainsbury's - just yesterday. I'm withdrawing some money out of my account today.

Days ahead will be interesting. Cannot understand why people would vote for Reform, but then remember Brexit. Do people not learn from mistakes?

DuncinToffee · 30/04/2025 11:38

According to the latest thread, 'protest'. No answer to why not vote Lib Dems, Greens, Independents or even Tory instead.

Not many want to admit they like Reform's anti immigration.

Notonthestairs · 30/04/2025 11:41

Ah yes but if Farage had been in charge of Brexit it would have been totally different. A much better No Deal type of Brexit and we’d all be quids in rather than suffering the sizeable knock to GDP.

Journalists too busy tiptoeing around Brexit and Farage IMV. Just letting him roll on to the next culture war.

There was an article in the weekend FT about Farage being bankrolled from various tax havens, Monaco etc.
