Good Morning Mumsnet! What's Everyone up to this Easter Sunday?

Happy Easter Mumsnet 🐣🐰

I'm just drinking my first cuppa, after a nice long lie in. I've fed the cats & put the Easter eggs out - dd2 seems to have an extra one somehow 🤷‍♀️. I'll toast us some hot cross buns when everyone's up.

I don't think any of us have anything planned for the day. I'll try and get my arse in gear to clean up a bit more after last weekend. Dd2's friend is coming for the day tomorrow so she needs to give her room a tidy and hoover. Not a clue what dd1 will do...probably plan more concerts & travel that she can't afford right now, as she does every day 🤣

Later on we're having gammon for tea, with salad - dd1's choice so she can help cook.

After that, it'll be showers all round. Although I might run myself a bath 🤔, then head straight to bed 💤...so looking forward to no alarm tomorrow morning!

What about all of you? 🙂

Just waiting on my food shop being delivered.
then DP plans to wash the car whilst I get some washing on then make a start on my hospital bag, less than 8 weeks till baby girl should arrive.

Then it’s over to my parents for roast lamb later then home & an early night watching some more greys anatomy

wordywitch · 20/04/2025 10:04

That sounds like a lovely, chilled day, enjoy!

My dad is here visiting so we’ve just been chatting over coffee this morning. DH has a slight hangover from going out last night so is malingering in bed still. DS16 isn’t up yet and DD is working until noon so we will do Easter eggs and lunch when she gets home, then get cracking on preparing dinner. Gammon, potatoes dauphinoise, asparagus and carrots, followed by a homemade tarte tatin which I’ve never made before so if anyone has any tips I’d be grateful!

EllaPaella · 20/04/2025 10:07

Good morning and happy Easter 🐣 We’ve done the egg hunt and now I’m having coffee and croissants while DH takes the dog for a walk with youngest DC. Teen DS is still asleep in bed. Youngest has a football tournament later which DH will take him to while I clean the house and make roast leg of lamb. I wouldn’t normally clean on Easter Sunday but we’ve had a lovely busy week with friends staying so not had a chance before now. I’ll go for a dip in the sea this afternoon then come home for a hot bath before dinner.

Happy Easter Everyone.

Hope everyone has a lovey day.

We had a mini lie in too. Been a busy weekend so far so we are all a bit tired. DH made pancakes for everyone. Kids loved their eggs. Dog has one to take out to roll and try. DCats got a few treats. All a bit silly but fun.

Im about to shower and get ready. Decorate some eggs. Meeting family later for a picnic and egg rolling.

DH is making a beef roast later that I’m looking forward too.

School and work tomorrow so need to get things ready for that later too.

Meadowfinch · 20/04/2025 10:09

I put hot cross buns in the airing cupboard to rise over night, so I've baked them. I've hoovered the sitting room, hall and kitchen, and generally tidied up.

Ex has just arrived to see DS so now I'm free until 4.30.

A leisurely shower then gardening and seeing friends I think.

I'll slow cook roast lamb and veg for DS & me tonight. 🙂

Whiskyfromsmallglasses · 20/04/2025 10:09

Last day off before I return to work after two weeks off. Lazy jammie day for me. Catch up on my book which I've neglected recently due to my elderly dad suddenly being admitted into hospital with a bleed on the brain. Bath and a face mask later and generally just laze about all day. Perfect! Ds 13 is planning on going bowling with his friends. Then it will be a shower for him and an early night for school tomorrow. Back to the morning battle of getting him out of bed for school. Not looking forward to that at all

CalypsoCuthbertson · 20/04/2025 10:10

Happy Easter everyone :)

I’ve been up for ages, laid the Easter egg hunt trail, and still waiting for DC to wake up! About to put a laundry load on, go for a shower and get a second coffee.

Will tidy the house today as it looks like a bomb’s hit it after the Easter holidays. I might do some patchwork quilting or gardening later or a bit of both.

Easy but nice dinner today - sea bass with mash and green veg.

CalicoPusscat · 20/04/2025 10:12

Just a gentle day really!

But happy Easter to all 🐣

ConnieHeart · 20/04/2025 10:14

Happy Easter everyone! Just having a cuppa, have put the veg on the air fryer which will form part of the gravy for our roast later. Dd2 (16) still wants some clues for her Easter egg so I'll organise them in a bit & wait for her to wake up. Could be a while 🤣. She doesn't go back to school till Wed
This afternoon dd2 & I are going to the gym then playing pickleball

frozendaisy · 20/04/2025 10:29

Happy Easter Sunday all!
was up with the larks this morning so was H he did some work I listened to Sunday service on radio4, not because I am religious in an organised sense but I don’t actually mind the Sunday service on radio and it was very upbeat and reflective today so that was a nice start.

Chocolate (read breakfast) handed out

Grandma round later for lamb (rack of ribs no idea how to cook so need to do some research because they were eye-wateringly expensive in butcher so want them to be the best we can) roast later.

So in the nature of today plan a reflective, calm, no consumer, feed the spirit type of day.

(plus the march towards GCSE exams goes ever onwards so tropical rainforests and the theory of computer science as well)

NimbleBee · 20/04/2025 10:32

Dd1 (14) not up yet. Dd (7) happy with her Easter eggs.
Just toasting hot cross buns.
Enjoying the garden today and relaxing, happy Easter weekend.

TheTecknician · 20/04/2025 10:33

Waiting for the washing machine to finish then I'm off out for the morning. In the meantime watching for cars driving into the Aldi car park then promptly exiting when the drivers realise the place is shut. I've been enjoying this Easter Sunday spectacle for years, since the site was Homebase.

PermanentTemporary · 20/04/2025 10:36

In a sunny bath contemplating a quiet day after gastric issues on Friday and long drive yesterday taking ds back to uni.

Soon I'll get up and go and visit DM with some flowers from the garden. Maybe a walk with DP later after he's seen his parents who are recovering from Covid hospitalisation. Going to bid for a really minimal dinner - ideal from my point of view would be poached eggs on toast.

Whattheduck · 20/04/2025 10:41

DilemmaDelilah · 20/04/2025 10:43

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone, and Happy Easter!

No lie in this morning, Mr Dilemma had to pick up and drop off chorister grandson for morning rehearsal at 8.30, and just for once I got up with him. We don't have anything planned for today, except picking chorister grandson up again after the afternoon service. We're not even properly cooking today as we have some cold roast beef and the mashed potato I made yesterday.

It's a beautiful sunny day today, after several days of torrential rain, so we will probably put some washing on to make the most of our solar panels and A+ rated washing machine (it adds up to costing us NOTHING in electricity).

Slight change of plan... We've just had a neighbour knock on the door to say that his one and only loo is leaking and asking if he and his adult daughter could use our downstairs loo. Luckily it is just off our hallway which has a door separating it from the rest of the house, so we have arranged that they will give one knock on the door and let themselves in. It does mean that we're going to be a little more 'on duty' today than we had planned. I know we probably won't see them, but I still feel the need to put on a bra and my fake boob rather than being a lopsided saggy person. We get on well with them, but we're definitely not drop in any time friends. Oh well.....

BCBird · 20/04/2025 10:43

Morning all. Am doing some lesson prep then going to.take pooch for a walk. Need to spend some time thinking about whether to put an offer in for property or not.

legosnowqueen · 20/04/2025 10:45

Happy Easter all, thanks for starting the chat @lucysmam

I’ve walked the dog & done a load of washing which is on the line outside - weather is nice here but cold out of the sun.

Putting croissants in the oven in 5 minutes & the eggs are out.

DS will be revising for A levels today. I’ll potter around doing some tidying & decluttering. We’ll take the dog for a longer walk on the moors later on. DH will come too. I’ll also read my book for an hour or two..a nice chilled day!

Roast beef for tea this evening with lemon & garlic roasties, then Eton Mess for dessert.

Easter is such an uplifting time of year - I’m hoping my tulips will finally bloom!

Crunchymum · 20/04/2025 10:53

Happy Easter everyone.

No plans today. Older 2 are currently at the local gardens having their own egg hunt. We have those refillable eggs so I just stuck a few Haribo in each egg and that will keep them occupied for a bit.

I am doing a "Christmas" dinner later. So roast chicken and beef with all the trimmings. I'll be prepping and pre-cooking at my leisure this afternoon.

DP is taking kids on a bike ride after an early light lunch and then I'll be serving dinner about 5pm. Bakewell tart / Easter eggs for dessert.

Family film later. We can all argue about which one over dinner 😂

Fairyvocals · 20/04/2025 10:56

Morning! I’m just having my second cup of coffee on the sofa after a long lie-in. DP is fettling something in the garage and DD’s up and dressed but watching some nonsense on YouTube Kids in her room.
We’ll do the egg hunt soon, and then I’ll finally have a shower and get dressed.
Home-made pizza for lunch, then my dad, my brother and his family are coming round for tea and egg exchange mayhem.
Not sure what the evening will hold - will depend whether DD’s happily sugared up or if it all descends into overtired woe! I’d like to squeeze in a weights workout, though.
Have lovely Sundays, everyone!

lucysmam · 20/04/2025 10:56

Well, I can't move now & disturb the cat to spend an hour cleaning so I'll just sit until she moves 🤣 (she's only ever sat with me three times - and never with anyone else so this is a treat!). Unfortunately for me, my texted pleas to make me a coffee have gone unanswered though 😥

Good Morning Mumsnet! What's Everyone up to this Easter Sunday?

Octavia64 · 20/04/2025 10:57

DD has gone off to her dad’s for the day so it’s just me and the cats.

i might get up at some point!

BakewellGin1 · 20/04/2025 11:02

I've been for a 2 mile jog. I've been saying i will get back out for a while so today was the day.

Had coffee then wrapped in a blanket on the sofa debating a second.

No real plans today as we have spent Friday and Saturday staying overnight in Chester and visiting the zoo with DC.

I need to do some washing and clean round at some point as with DC being off again we have another busy week planned.

RabbitsRock · 20/04/2025 11:10

Confused that some are going back to school on Easter Monday 🤔

lucysmam · 20/04/2025 11:28

Good point @RabbitsRock . Maybe it's not a BH in some places?

Happy Easter! We woke up this morning to our 10 year old knocking on the door and looking expectantly at us for chocolate 😄. Gave him his Easter egg chocolates, and then he went downstairs to make us all a hot drink. My coffee was a little bit weak but it was a lovely gesture from him. He had a croissant for breakfast and husband and I had avocado on toast with some fried eggs. I’ve just walked the dog, my husband is out for a run and DS is playing the PlayStation. We’ll FaceTime my parents in a little while too. Once DH is back we’ll have some hot cross buns, put a family film on, eat chocolate, while the leg of lamb in the oven slow cooks. After the film I’ll crack on with the rest of the roast dinner, make a rhubarb crumble and some custard for dessert, and then just read for whatever is left of the afternoon. Once DH is in bed we’ll probably watch one of the new Black Mirror episodes or a Sopranos episode (currently rewatching the entire series) and then off to bed ourselves. Pretty lovely Easter Sunday!
