Good Morning Mumsnet! What's Everyone up to this Easter Sunday?

Happy Easter Mumsnet 🐣🐰

I'm just drinking my first cuppa, after a nice long lie in. I've fed the cats & put the Easter eggs out - dd2 seems to have an extra one somehow 🤷‍♀️. I'll toast us some hot cross buns when everyone's up.

I don't think any of us have anything planned for the day. I'll try and get my arse in gear to clean up a bit more after last weekend. Dd2's friend is coming for the day tomorrow so she needs to give her room a tidy and hoover. Not a clue what dd1 will do...probably plan more concerts & travel that she can't afford right now, as she does every day 🤣

Later on we're having gammon for tea, with salad - dd1's choice so she can help cook.

After that, it'll be showers all round. Although I might run myself a bath 🤔, then head straight to bed 💤...so looking forward to no alarm tomorrow morning!

What about all of you? 🙂

Been into town. I never seem to learn that everything is closed!?
Why is everything closed? It's like Sunday in the 80s without The Little House on the Prairie!

Happy Easter everyone!
We’ve just done a longish walk around the next village on bridleways and across fields, the woods are full of bluebells.
DGCs are occupied with drawing and bird watching, DS and DDIL are on their way back on foot, taking a longer route, the lamb’s in the oven and I need to finish preparing the vegetables. Tarte Tatin or raspberry tart for dessert with ice cream 😋
Nothing else’s planned n let’s see what transpires as the day goes on.

Happy Easter all. Currently sat out in our new little seating area. We're starting an extension this year so our garden is currently in ruins as we had to demolish the old lean-to to make space. Not having a bit of outside space to relax in really got me down last year so I've carved out a wee nook at the side and spent some time last week zhoozhing it up with a few pots. Looks very cheery! It's a bit chilly here though so I might light the fire pit later. Had our easter egg hunt earlier and we'll decorate and roll some eggs this after. DH is having a nap as he's feeling a bit peeky. Regardless, roast beef and sticky toffee pudding for dinner and perhaps the last episode of the Residence if he's up for it. Enjoy the rest of your day, everyone.

PIL and DM coming for lunch. Just making something simple: roast chicken, roast potatoes, green veg and plenty of gravy. Then lemon curd cake for dessert.

I need to find DM’s Easter gift which I bought in advance and put somewhere safe!

Happy Easter Sunday to you all. My family are coming for lunch. The table is set and the dishes are mostly out apart from stuff that needs heated up. I'm catering for two small boys, a vegetarian, a pescatorian and the rest of us, so it's a buffet.

Morning and happy Sunday everyone! @lucysmam lucky you, getting a rare lap nap from the cat! ☺️

We’re both soooo sleepy this morning. We’ve had friends visiting for the past week and we drove up to Edinburgh on Friday morning. OH and I came home last night independently while our friends stayed in Edinburgh. It’s been nonstop country and city walking with them since they arrived so our bodies are crying out for rest.

Anyway, I’ve seasoned the lamb leg using Dishoom’s Lamb Raan recipe and am waiting about another hour before putting it in the oven. It’s supposed to be an overnight marination but the leg was still frozen last night. I’m sure it’ll still taste delicious. I’ll serve it with sautéed kale, roasted carrots, and basmati rice.

It’s sunny here so we’re going to lounge in the beautiful light and take it easy today before heading back to the grind tomorrow. Have a good day everyone!

Happy Easter to everyone. @lucysmam I love this thread and always read even if I don't post. There's something reassuring about reading about the quiet activities of posters lives, interspersed now and again with someone doing something more adventurous.

Today the thread's making me hungry - so much lovely food, especially puddings, being cooked. I've had a tidy round and done my piano practise. DH has just made me a coffee and put a shot of Baileys in it - lovely. I'm going to finish the book I'm reading while DH cooks lunch. Later, I've got some letters to write - I have a "snail mail" penpal and a couple of "postcard penpals" that I keep in touch with.

Good afternoon @lucysmam & the Easter Sunday gang. I get a little surge of happiness when this thread pops up! Lazy day so far. I’ve had a Mr Kipling cake & just having a caramel egg. Done the dishwasher( there’s more to go in when this lot’s finished) & just about to hang the washing out. Beautiful sunny day here in Cornwall. DD16 has emerged, straightened her hair & borrowed some of my make up. We watched Heartstopper & a bit of Friday Night Dinner. Heading over to my folks’ place in a bit. DF may be going to play golf but it depends how DM is as she had another fall yesterday & is apparently very confused 😢 I have tulips for her & a bar of fruit & nut for DF. Having steaks for tea with chips, peas & breaded garlic mushrooms. I will do a few battered onion rings for myself as DH not keen. DD will sort herself out. She decided she didn’t want to do an egg hunt after all.

Not long back from Easter Day service, lovely rousing Hallelujah Chorus for us choristers to have a grand sing. This afternoon will be taking the dogs out, I’ll also plant out some lavender plants I bought yesterday and some fuchsias in a hanging basket. Later I’ll cut some sprigs of rosemary off the bush outside and pop the leg of lamb in the oven as a friend is coming over this evening for dinner. Nice day so far

Unfortunately I've been working most of easter weekend, friday Saturday and monday, but am off today. The joys of retail! Shops are busy too as its been wet and cold here, although today is lovely.
Have a lovely easter everyone.

mamaduckbone · 20/04/2025 18:07

Happy Easter @lucysmam and mumsnet!
Not remotely morning any more but I've enjoyed catching up on everyone's day.

Dh and I had a nice lie in this morning and went for a walk in the sun before picking my mum up to come to us for Sunday lunch.
She's got no top denture at the moment so is a bit dribbly and can't eat very well, but was able to have a giggle at herself and enjoyed her lunch, a sit in the sun and to see her grandsons so I think she was glad she came.
Ds1 was at work over lunchtime so we had Easter treats when he got home at 3.30 - scones with jam and cream, Easter nests and rocky road, and Easter chocolate. I enjoy an excuse for baking especially as I've been trying to lose weight recently, so bit of a blow out day today.
Now I'm in the garden with a glass of wine, both boys are in their rooms supposedly revising, looking forward to a chilled evening and a day out in Bath tomorrow taking ds1 back to uni.

Kittkats · 20/04/2025 18:21

Lovely dog walk in the sun this morning. Picked up DD17 from her dads where she’s been house sitting, and DS19 from the airport after a weeks holiday. Did an Easter egg hunt at DD’s request for them and their younger brothers despite them being a bit old now! Roast lamb for dinner followed by Easter eggs, now chilling with my book while DH watches football.

Natsku · 20/04/2025 18:28

Happy Easter everyone!

We went to sauna in the morning as forgot to last night, had boiled egg sandwiches for lunch. OH and DS went to the football pitch for a kickabout in the afternoon and then I hid the eggs for the easter egg hunt, and they found all of them this year (usually don't!)

Had lamb kleftiko for dinner which was delicious and now I'm having a glass of wine before I put DS to bed, who is very full of sugar so it may take a while! Once he's in bed I'm going to watch some X Files with DD and have some cheese and wine.

Maddy70 · 20/04/2025 18:35

Just got off a flight to start a 10 day holiday

MsPenguins · 20/04/2025 18:44

Happy Easter everyone.

Just a quiet day here. Got Easter eggs for DD and DS. Then we had a roast dinner and homemade apple crumble and custard.

DH is currently visiting a friend from his work and his wife and DD is watching Formula 1 with friends and back to university in a couple of days. Cat is curled up with me.
