Ridiculous boast, but my laundry bin is empty

The only things that will eventually need washing in the near future are the clothes that I'm wearing and the newly put out tea towel

Wow! You are truly a queen of queens.

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 14/04/2025 15:36

This is the kind of smugness that will lead to trouble.....

Jellycatspyjamas · 14/04/2025 15:37

I salute you. Even getting washing out to dry on the line last week didn’t result in an empty laundry basket. What sorcery did you employ?

Annual leave

It's my day off

When I win the lottery, I will never touch laundry again.

5 of us and a dog in this house, I do a load everyday and put it all away (I never iron), or it builds up into an uncontrollable heap.

I hate doing it. I know it’s only putting it in the washing machine, changing it to the dryer (and dh does those half the time), but it just feels like I am constantly sorting washing into piles and putting it away. Every fucking evening.

Stichintime · 14/04/2025 15:40

How many people did you employ to help?!

ExcellentLawnOrnament · 14/04/2025 15:41

Oh, I had this last week, briefly! The secret for me was finally fishing out the random bits in the bottom that needed a wash before selling/donating. Good stuff OP!

Mine's full again now. And it's raining...

Devilsmommy · 14/04/2025 15:42

I am so bloody jealous. It's a beautiful thing when it happens isn't it 😊

None

I did take annual leave and despite all my good intentions about getting out to see some posh charity shops a few dozen miles away, I got into my laundry instead

I have no children, I have ADHD and I'm menopausal

My sleep pattern is erratic at best 😳

I bow at your feet 🧺

In the bottom of my laundry basket I have:

A red sweatshirt that will run like mad and needs its own wash with nothing else.

A sequinned top from Christmas 😳 that needs hand washing.

A woolly jumper - also needs hand washing. I'm going to say that's been in there for at least 8 months.

I see these 3 items regularly when I've tackled the normal stuff and think "oh, piss off!"

Crucible · 14/04/2025 15:46

Doing a wool wash now and got two more loads sorted out to go in the machine. This morning's load has gone on the line about 10 mins ago. I need to do all the cushion covers tomorrow. And I've got baskets of clean stuff from the weekend to put away. 🤯 Ironing pile is good though, I've tackled it the last two Tuesdays in a row. Only mumsnetters understand this type of post.

Sounds challenging enough without getting into the laundry!! For the lords sake woman sit down 😁

@FatLarrysBanned

One tip is to see the washing label before buying

I've left bee-YOO-ti-full items in the shops when they looked like a faff to care for

Hand wash only items can go in a pillowcase or one of those wash nets on a gentle wash at a low temperature

Things which run can go by themselves

Not to brag but mine was empty too this morning!
Although ds then half filled the fucking thing 😤

MrsMoastyToasty · 14/04/2025 17:13

My DS has an empty laundry basket. He uses a floor-drobe instead.
Would you like him as Your Mightiness' consort?

I don’t mind the washing and the drying.

its the putting away I can’t stand.

it always ends up an untameable heap that I can’t face dealing with.

PyrannosaurusRex · 14/04/2025 17:17

My DH created an unempty-able laundry basket by wearing a pair of white wool socks with his kilt back in November last year. Every time I nearly get it empty I see the bastards and curse them.

Nope

I use a coat rack and chairdrobe and eschew any floordrobe

That’s why I have to do a load a day. I have to keep it manageable otherwise I look at heap of clean washing and just want to set fire to it.

Bluevelvetsofa · 14/04/2025 17:32

My ironing basket is empty. One super king and one king size duvet covers were tackled. Smug!

This is me, who’s it so soul destroying to put piles of clothes away. I don’t even mind ironing but putting the stuff away is a real chore. I always feel like I’ve fallen at the last hurdle.
