Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my kitchen spot. Mountaineer cat was on top of the bedroom door this morning so I got up to feed them 🙄. We all need to be up anyway, 6 electricians are coming in half an hour to start re-wiring the entire house. At 8am. On a Saturday.

I'm not sure the girls are up yet 🤷‍♀️. Never mind, dd2 is!

We have nothing much planned for the day - I've been ill all week so we'll mostly be sitting in the kitchen or garden & trying to keep the cats from vanishing under floorboards.

Later on, I'm off to see Six, the movie musical, with dd2. Not sure if we'll eat out or cook when we get in yet. Either way, I'll probably not be far off going to bed when we get in 💤 this virus has properly knocked me sideways 😷.

What about all of you? 🙂

Your cats sound like rascals! Our giant tabby squashed himself into a small flowerpot yesterday afternoon - and stayed there in the sun for at least 3 hours. They do make laugh!

Good luck with the rewiring. My teens would not be happy with that on a Saturday! And hope you feel better for your show later - enjoy it!

We have family coming for the day, so I should get cracking really - lots to do. And a dog to walk first…

chickenfordinner · 12/04/2025 07:52

Morning @lucysmam wasn't looking for you yet as it’s so early!
I’m sorry you’ve been unwell this week. Hopefully another few day rest and you’ll start to feel better. I love Six!!!!

we've come down to the coast to look after my friends cats as they are away - they live in a lovely house by the sea so a little holiday for us too. They have 2 maincoons and 2 sphinx cats and they’re all crazy!!! So going to feed them all soon then we’ll spend the day wandering in the town and on the beach in the sun ☀️

homemade pizza for dinner later.

have a great day everyone

DrRichardWebber · 12/04/2025 07:55

Continuing the cat theme, I’ll be walking the streets and asking neighbours if I can see inside their sheds because ours has gone missing. She hasn’t been back since yesterday. We are all upset 😢

DilemmaDelilah · 12/04/2025 07:59

Good morning @lucysmam . I've been looking forward to this since last week! 8 electricians is a LOT! Do you have a very big house? Hopefully you have got in extra tea bags etc. I hope you are feeling a bit better today - it's no fun to have to be 'on duty' when you're not feeling well.

I had a rotten night, awake around 1am for 4 hours, but since Mr Dilemma is away this weekend I was able to get up and do some useful things, then watch some television, before going back to bed.

I miss Mr Dilemma a lot, of course, but I must say it is very nice not to have to consider anyone else at all. It is very nice indeed to have my breakfast made and brought to me in bed every morning, but yesterday, after I had been to the hospital for an EGG and taken him to pick up a hire car, I had the rest of the day all to myself. That meant I could do some batch cooking, and cook some sausages, then I ate a couple of sausages IN MY FINGERS around 11am and then went for my 'afternoon' nap around noon. Mr Dilemma is absolutely the love of my life, but it is very nice not to have to accept the nice things he decided to do for me which I can't turn down without hurting his feelings.

So - I've been downstairs to make my breakfast and brought it back up to bed. I'm having a cream cheese, cheddar and celery sandwich a la M&S 1990. My grandmother used to get them for me when I went to have lunch with her. I don't know whether they are still available - sandwich fillings seem to be unacceptably (in my view) foncified nowadays. I couldn't ask Mr Dilemma to make that for my breakfast, he would get very confused.

My plans for today are to make a fish pie base for the freezer, and then this afternoon I have to go and pick up chorister middle grandson from the cathedral. I imagine there will be more sleep, and more of the television series I started watching yesterday. I have seen 4 episodes, including the one I saw about 4 am, so I imagine I will have finished it by tomorrow, unless there is a second series. I also need to pick a few bay leaves to flavour the milk for the fish pie.

Bodonka · 12/04/2025 08:06

Morning all! @lucysmamenjoy Six, it’s great!

We’re away for the weekend, so I’m catching up on a teeny bit of work I avoided last week whilst DS starfishes on the other giant hotel bed and watches scooby doo on TV. Cannot believe he’s got through 5 years of his life without this classic, feel like a failure of a parent 😂

Looking forward to our giant buffet breakfast, it’s particularly good in this hotel. Then a day of hanging out with our friends and playing games. I think there’s an Easter egg hunt on the cards too!

Imperfectpolly · 12/04/2025 08:06

Sorry to hear you've been so unwell.

One DC has training at 10, the other has a match at 10am. Luckily they are about a 2 minute drive apart so I should be able to get both there.

I'll be buying curtains for the games room today, just need to figure out the colour. I'll also really tempted to buy a robovac and mop for our hall, as its impossible to keep on top of it with all the traffic passing through.

Have to do a food shop and haven't decided on dinner yet but I'll definitely be cooking, we've already eaten out this week.

chickenfordinner · 12/04/2025 08:10

Oh @DrRichardWebber (love your username!) really hope you find you cat, must be so worrying not knowing where they are, hopefully just got seduced into someone’s house and will turn up soon as if nothing has happened

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 12/04/2025 08:14

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I'm really sorry to hear that you have been ill. I hope you are recovering now. I've had a busy couple of weeks. Mum died on April Fools Day and I have been busy with funeral admin and stuff ever since. I have a brother but he's pretty useless.
Today I'm meeting a friend for second breakfast and will enjoy the food and the chat. Then home to do housework. I have a washing on and I will hang it out before I leave. Dinner will be a fridge/freezer combo. Have a good day all

Fridaysgirl17 · 12/04/2025 08:22

We just woke up about 20 minutes ago my usual up with the lark kids slept till 8, absolute legends, 6 30 is usually a lie in. We are just lazing about now on the bed, well I'm dressed & have clothes out for 4 year old,we are in Ireland & the weather has been stunning this week unfortunately I've had a very ill 8 year old,& dad saw them yesterday a few hours & he decided that it was a good idea to put 8 year old in a cold pool to play so his cold & cough are a bit worse again today so we might venture out & play a bit,sit in the sun & have an ice pop

EsmeeMerlin · 12/04/2025 08:24

I was supposed to take ds2 to an Easter event at a nearby church while ds1 and dh are out at the football but ds2 is tired from our day out at the zoo yesterday. He has spent the last 2 hours in his dark den with his ear defenders on and his tablet so I can't see him managing a event.

I'll leave him where he is and crack on with some housework and reading my new book. I am tired tbf too. We did have a long day yesterday with lots of walking so an indoor day sounds good to me.

Harbourofdiscovery · 12/04/2025 08:30

It's a holiday here where I live the coming week is like a big celebration, so we are off to the coast to our fav place for a few days R&R.

It's a tad hot but being by the ocean hopefully we will have a bit of a breeze.

The swim up bar is calling......about one hour still to go...

DilemmaDelilah · 12/04/2025 08:43

Update on today's plans..... I may have to rethink things. I have cardiac issues (paroxysmal atrial fibrillation) and I'm having an episode right now. If I'm lucky it will pass quite quickly and everything will go back to normal - if I'm not then I will have to go into ED and can expect to be there for several hours, if not overnight. It would have to be the weekend Mr Dilemma is away! I won't be able to drive myself, obviously, so it will either have to be a taxi or begging a neighbour to give me a lift. Next door have 3 children and probably have plans for today, especially since it is forecast to rain tomorrow. Next door but one is a night bird, frequently working until the early hours of the morning, and he's not usually awake much before lunchtime. Plus, of course, I'm not well enough to go and knock on their doors.

I'm probably worrying about nothing and it will all be over in half an hour.

LaReole · 12/04/2025 08:49

Recovering after a late night watching Gabrielle and The Lighthouse family in concert.....now relaxing with our wonderful grandson....perfect morning x

frozendaisy · 12/04/2025 09:03

Good glorious morning all
hope you are back to fighting fit now @lucysmam
can you sit in garden with kitchens it should be warm enough perhaps

chilled day here after x3 days stomping around very sunny London Town

So back to revision and life (boring)

one more coffee first

lucysmam · 12/04/2025 09:04

@RussetGold he does it every weekend morning until someone relents & gets up to feed them (me...it's me that gets up and feeds/fusses them!).

@chickenfordinner it was early as fook!

The girls were so thrilled they holed up in dd1's room while she stuck lashes and put make up on...regardless of the floorboards being taken up outside her room 🤣.

We're now outside, with the cats in jail, against my better judgement, although they're hiding at the moment. Better than inside with the dust & noise though! I've brought a pair of school trousers to take up, my current book, my cursive practise sheets and cold tablets 🤣. Should have brought my crochet maybe 🤔

@DilemmaDelilah normal sized 3 bed semi 🤷‍♀️ . There's loads of them so it hopefully only takes the weekend. They're putting in loads of new sockets, sorting the manky bathroom light, installing a pendant fitting instead of strip light in the kitchen, and installing an extractor fan while they're at it...hopefully it'll be like a normal house without stupid extensions all over the place!

so sorry for your loss .Take care

good morning all .. have a great day …
loads to do here as we are off to France early tomorrow morning !!

mamaduckbone · 12/04/2025 09:15

Good morning @lucysmam and all. I hope you're feeling better - I've also been ill with a rotten virus all week so not a lot planned today apart from resting up - lazing in the garden should feature heavily as it's a gorgeous day here.
School finally broke up for Easter yesterday so I have the delicious feeling of 2 weeks off stretching ahead.

PenniesButton · 12/04/2025 09:17

Good morning Saturday gang.

I got up early (well, 8:15, early for me on a weekend) and am going to aqua in a minute. I'll wash my hair when I'm there and then blow-dry it when I come home. I just wear a hair towel turban thing from the centre to the car, I don't care that I look daft!

Then we're picking up our nephew who is 8 and taking him for lunch and to see the Minecraft movie. Drop him home and then we've got a Gousto meal left for dinner as we got Chinese last night.

@lucysmam hope you enjoy Six, we've got tickets for later in the year when it comes to Scotland and I'm really excited about it.

@DilemmaDelilah hope you are ok and don't need to go to hospital.

Whattheduck · 12/04/2025 09:20

lucysmam · 12/04/2025 09:20

@DrRichardWebber I hope you find your cat, I'd be so gutted if anything happened to these two 🤞.

@LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand I'm sorry to read about your Mum 💐. I hope you enjoy your second breakfast with your friend.

Ooh, I've just been & asked if they'll put a light in the back hallway too & they will! Most excellent - I'll be able to see in the pantry now 🥳

PermanentTemporary · 12/04/2025 09:20

@DilemmaDelilah oh no! All fingers crossed that it settles. Why is it always the most precious bits of downtime that health issues torpedo?

Am in the bath right now with a saffron bath bomb which ds (actually ds's girlfriend) got me for my birthday. Girding my loins as I need to see or support 4 elderly relatives this weekend. Nothing too stressful but until it's all done I'll have an uncomfortably busy brain. I'd turned down social invitations this weekend as all the elderlies have hit a decline at once (one in hospice, one in hospital with Covid, one very frail at home with Covid, one in her nursing home). Hoping to squeeze in a walk in the sunshine.

mechanicalpencil · 12/04/2025 09:25

@DilemmaDelilah hope you are ok!

Woke up with yet another migraine today , so tea, breakfast then medication and back to bed.

DilemmaDelilah · 12/04/2025 09:29

@PermanentTemporary thank you for your kind thoughts. I just checked my kardia monitor and I'm out of atrial fibrillation at the moment, and hoping it stays that way! Still feeling a bit fragile... On a positive note - I have got dressed, packed my hospital bag, fed the cat (again) and cleaned out her litter tray, so the day has started productively. I don't think I'm going to be standing around cooking, although I will probably cook the fish as it is defrosted, and I don't think I will be picking my grandson up from choir as I don't think I should be driving.

I have plans for tomorrow so here's hoping I stay well.

Zippedydodah · 12/04/2025 09:34

Good morning @lucysmam and followers, it’s another beautiful sunny morning here but the weather’s on the change.
We’ve taken the dogs out for an hour’s walk, they’re both snoozing in the sunshine now.
I have an all day art workshop on Zoom, I’ve just got everything set up ready so I’m looking forward to it!
Another dog walk later, probably through the woods I think, it’s a lovely walk especially now the ransom, wood anaemones and bluebells are out.

Umbongoumbongo999 · 12/04/2025 09:38

Morning @lucysmam

And all!
Ive been up before 6 this morning. My dh is at work so he brought me a cuppa up before he left. Ive put a wash on and have been packing and sorting in advance of house move in just over two weeks. Ive just had a little break for another coffee and a hot cross bun

I'm going to do some more packing of my clothes and see how I can manage with a capsule wardrobe. I'm waiting for the developers to call me back to explain why theyve fitted the wrong worktop in my new kitchen and how they're going to rectify it.

I'm planning a weekend soak with all my products and then this afternoon we are going to a bbq with family. Im taking salads and wine, and im looking forward to some sunshine as I've been working long hours this week and have missed the nice weather.
