Those old geyser contraptions you used to get in eg schools and church halls, what was the brand name? Going mad trying to remember!

Geyser?

MorrisZapp · 11/04/2025 22:08

Come on, ask your mum if you can't remember!

A berco boiler?

ohcrikeynotagain · 11/04/2025 22:08

Berco?

SnoozingFox · 11/04/2025 22:09

We call it an urn

OatFlatWhiteForMe · 11/04/2025 22:09

Urn

parisbynight · 11/04/2025 22:10

Tea urn?

MorrisZapp · 11/04/2025 22:10

No geyser is the gadget, I'm looking for the brand name. People called it by the brand, but I've forgotten it. Bah! For some reason I'm getting a 'muriel' vibe but it isn't muriel. My dad said Ascot but it's not that either.

Not Berco or urn

There's one at the very beginning of the video of paddington visiting the queen.

It's just behind the tray when the man lifts it.

Artesia · 11/04/2025 22:13

Belling. Or Baby Belling for a small one. That was the brand I used when I made teas at a local cricket club.

MorrisZapp · 11/04/2025 22:13

It's not an urn. It's a wall mounted cylinder with a gas flame underneath. Absolutely lethal.

Do you mean one of these?

This is a Cygnet but the brand I remember is Zip.

Ascot

Geyser. My grandparents had a massive one above their bath. Scared me to death.

I remember those but no idea what they were called!

Ewart

Ruud

Instanta

goingtotown · 11/04/2025 22:25

Ascot

MorrisZapp · 11/04/2025 22:26

Very similar to the Ascot. It's entirely possible that here in Scotland there was another brand. One word, slightly feminine sounding. 'go and switch the Beryl on' or similar.

Today it would be a Zip Hydroboil.

I’ll ask at work on Monday if anyone knows the name of the old ones.

angelinawasrobbed · 11/04/2025 22:30

The Victor?
