Vinted is getting worse!

Honestly I despair at times with Vinted. The other day, I listed a couple of nice dresses, a JellyCat and some jewellery, and straight away people are just offering the most ridiculous amounts - it's like the lowest that they can offer. Some people are even messaging me begging me to accept £5 for a £15 dress, claiming its all they can afford. One woman argued with me at a price of a necklace saying it's so expensive for something so small. Normally I ignore, but I did retaliate and state "well don't buy it then".

Over the last couple of days, the amount of fakes too is shocking. I have reported some and Vinted come back saying they aren't breaching any community standards, all because they post a pic of a fake designer bag, but list it as EGO (that's the most common brand they are listed as).

Ready to give up on it. You don't go into River Island or whatever shop and say "I know the price is £XX, but would you accept 75% less?" then continue to ask!

Rant over!

Just me that feels this way?

I am not listing anything else on Vinted it's full of bargain hunters and vultures to be honest. I get double on eBay selling than I do on V and the people are nicer.

PullTheBricksDown · 08/04/2025 20:41

it's so expensive for something so small

🤣 Hope no one's trying to sell diamonds on Vinted!

Can't believe people message to beg for a lower price. Actually, I can.

ReginaaPhalangee · 08/04/2025 20:42

@Doggymummari might need to get back on eBay.

@PullTheBricksDownI actually get 2nd hand embarrassment for them!

At the end of each if my listings I just put “All of my items are already very competitively priced, so please don’t send offers as they will be declined”

This does the trick for me.

SnoozingFox · 08/04/2025 20:45

That's not a Vinted problem. That's a people problem. You cannot blame VInted for the cheeky fuckers on their platfotm.

Helleborer · 08/04/2025 20:45

I just completely ignore any daft offers or begging messages. You’re under no obligation to respond to them.

Overthebow · 08/04/2025 20:45

I just use Vinted as a way to shift loads of clothes that I’d just end up throwing away otherwise. I keep the money in there and then buy the next lot of kids clothes with it. I sell things very cheap.

Agree, but it’s a Vinted problem when they allow all the fakes to be listed and sold, even when reported they turn a blind eye to it

Go for it! ☺️

PolaDeVeboise · 08/04/2025 20:49

I don’t get many insulting offers. In fact, I price above what I want for something, so the buyer feels they are getting a bargain, and I get pretty much what I want for it - everyone leaves happy…

SnoozingFox · 08/04/2025 20:50

Agree, selling counterfeits is illegal and those items should not be on their platform. I don't buy that sort of stuff so haven't noticed it as an issue.

AliBaliBee1234 · 08/04/2025 20:51

I still love vinted and don't have this problem tbh. But I list things cheap to get rid of them.

If i do get a silly offer, i just reject. If they argue, I block. I wouldn't let it ruin it for you, just say no.

If you end up accidentally buying a fake, you get a refund i'm pretty sure. Fakes have always been around.

ReginaaPhalangee · 08/04/2025 20:53

@AliBaliBee1234i normally do ignore or reject, but that stupid message about the necklace being so expensive for something so small really boiled my blood! The necklace did sell today for the price listed anyway, but I just can’t stand rude people. In fact, it’s the entitlement which infuriates me.

I also think that fewer and fewer buyers “accept” their delivery and pay when they get it, they just wait till it’s auto accepted. And very few people leave feedback these days.

Oh god don’t get me started there! As soon as I receive and inspect the item, I confirm the order straight away! Wish people could do the same.

I have noticed that even named stuff I’m selling,is only going cheap….. I might try eBay.Trouble is buyers protection plus postage makes stuff not worth it for lots of people.

lonlynessworks · 12/05/2025 22:26

I dont use vinted at all used it once for 2 tops just to try it out the tops arrived but stunk i did find half the crap on there was not worth the asking price.
Tbh ive never got the hype for it same as ebay and amazon dont use either.
However i am a temu fan and will shop shop shop on there love it.

Rosierambles · 12/05/2025 22:29

I've had painful buyers of late. Stupid offers. Like less than half price and even more than the 40% off Vinted suggest. I mean why would you put it on for 40% more than you want?! People are treating a £4 pair of shoes like a semi detached with the back and forth

IDontDrinkTea · 12/05/2025 22:47

I find some of Vinted’s decisions irritating. Like I had a buyer complain something they bought “smelled too strongly of fabric conditioner” and put in for a refund. I said id refund if they returned it, they argued it wasn’t worth their time. Vinted agreed with the buyer and refunded them and I didn’t get my item back. All because I sent them a clean, just washed item 🙄

Yet when I report very obviously fake goods, they do nothing

No i just shop.

Crispynoodle · 12/05/2025 23:09

Blimey I must be the best customer ever! I always pay asking price and always leave feedback!

Bellabluea · 12/05/2025 23:16

I’ve generally only had good experiences on Vinted. I always get the odd cf with crazy offers but like a pp I put my prices a bit higher than I expect so I accept a lot of offers.
Ive had a couple of items arrive smelling of smoke but I just stick it in the washer as I would anyway. I wouldn’t complain, people are weird.
