Seems like so many kids have broken up for Easter already? In my area they finish next Friday and have the traditional week before and week after Easter off!

What county are you and have the kids broken up?

Worcestershire here.

Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire here (joy of living on the border). Nottinghamshire broke up on Friday 4th and Leicestershire break up Friday 11th. So have 3 weeks to juggle!

TeenToTwenties · 07/04/2025 08:18

Hants broke up Friday, back Easter Tuesday.

Dd is at college and has done a week work experience last week and again after Easter so has 4 weeks off travelling to college. Yay!

We've just broken up for the Easter fortnight in Cambridgeshire

North East, break up Friday 11th april, back on 28th April

mondaytosunday · 07/04/2025 08:36

I think it’s because Easter is so late this year that they’ve broken up now - last Friday the park was heaving as the local primary seemed to have moved the whole school there! Looks like decent weather this week too. (My DD has been back for two weeks from uni with three more to go! Some of her friends only get two weeks off though. She Still has plenty of coursework to do.)

scotstars · 07/04/2025 08:51

My la changed it many years ago so the spring holiday is always first 2 weeks of April so some years Easter falls within other years we get an extra long weekend. I like it we are on holiday this week as it was much cheaper :-)

SJM1988 · 07/04/2025 08:53

Easter is late this year. We have broken up already. Last term was a 7 week term for us so the kids couldnt have done anywhere week. After easter its only a 5 week term

miserablecat · 07/04/2025 08:53

Hertfordshire, ours broke up on Friday (4th) and go back after Easter Monday as per lots of others.
I remember one year Easter itself wasn't even in the Easter holidays! It was either really early or really late and GF-EM was a mini holiday and then there was a separate 2 week holiday

Also Worcester.
The private schools get this week and next off. State schools get Easter week and the following.
Logistical nightmare for teacher parents who teach at one and have kids at the other.

Berkshire and like many others school broke up on Friday and we have two weeks off, returning to school the day after Easter Monday.

My DB lives in Yorkshire and his DC have already been off a week! They go back to school next week for four days then have the long Easter weekend which seems very strange!

PurpleChrayn · 07/04/2025 09:02

Mine are in all this week and break up Friday. Back the following Tuesday. It’s a Jewish school so that may be why - they’re off the week of Passover.

TubeScreamer · 07/04/2025 09:06

Leics and yes on holiday now

Shamwish · 07/04/2025 09:08

Since GCSE exams this year start early May (regardless of how late Easter is), it's better if the holiday is earlier, to allow kids time to rest and revise, and a final push in lessons with teachers. If they were left to their own devices right before, some would really struggle.

Pieceofpurplesky · 07/04/2025 10:11

Cheshire have ‘spring break’, always the first two full weeks in April. Has been like this for a while now

We have fixed Easter holidays so it's always the first 2 weeks of April no matter when Easter falls

LottieMary · 07/04/2025 13:36

North/West Yorkshire

Easters really late, there’s only two weeks between the Easter Monday and GCSE exams as it is.

user2848502016 · 07/04/2025 14:53

We are the same as you, we’re in Wales and have always had the 2 weeks either side of Easter off.

MrsMurphyIWish · 07/04/2025 16:18

Midlands. Crawling to Friday!

NeedWineNow · 07/04/2025 16:25

West Kent here. The dance school where I do my classes follows the same term times as our local schools so we broke up on Friday 4 April and go back on 22 April.

Auburngal · 07/04/2025 17:08

Here, Leicestershire, the schools break up on Friday 11th and return on 28th April. Then they only got 4 weeks before another half term!

I remember one school somewhere when Easter was late, they had under 2 weeks off in March/April. For example, using this year's calendar, broke up on Wed 19th March and return 1st April. Then for Easter, they just had GF and EM off.

SparkyBlue · 07/04/2025 17:56

We finish early this Friday on a half day and then the next two weeks off. I'm in Ireland and it's always the week before and after Easter off regardless of when it falls

Marmite27 · 07/04/2025 17:57

Leeds, first day of the holidays today for us.

OldCottageGreenhouse · 07/04/2025 19:11

@LadyMonicaBaddinghamWhat on earth do you mean “as we should” Are term dates assigned as per class level now?!?!?

Sprogonthetyne · 07/04/2025 19:24

My kids brake up on Friday then go back 28th. It makes sense to put a week either side of Easter but with it being so late this year the summer term has ended up really short, so I can see why some areas have brought it forward to balance ip term length.

I assumed she meant it should coincide with the actual Easter dates.
