The best supermarket chocolate biscuits

I’m doing my online order and I want to get some really nice chocolate biscuits to have with a cup of tea of a night. I can’t think what to get beyond Tunnock’s tea cakes which I’m not sure even qualifies as a biscuit.

Needs to be available from a supermarket no fancier or less widely available than M&S. For anyone about to suggest their favourite 99 carat gold flake encrusted Peruvian 200% cocoa florentines only available from Booths or Harrods, I’m pleased for you, but neither will deliver to me.

Let me know your favourites and importantly why.

Border biscuits, specifically for us the chocolate vienesse ones. They’re buttery, chocolatey and not bad price wise as well as easily available. They also do a sharing box with different flavours

I second this. They're so lovely, I cannot resist them and can easily eat the whole packet if not restrained. Currently only £1 a pack of 12 at sainsbury's, which is a good price as normally at least £2

Dark chocolate digestive. Always. No other biscuit matters!

disclaimer: I do not like tea so I don’t know how well it goes with a cup

Wishboneswishes · 06/04/2025 15:59

M&S chocolate covered custard creams.

You will thank me! 😍😍😍

I third this and also can eat the whole pack. They are in two individually wrapped packets inside the box which makes me pause for at least 5 minutes before opening the 2nd one.

My late dad's favourite! 😍 Thank you for bringing a smile to my face in memory of him@Leapintothelightning

My favourite are anything oaty (preferable dipped in chocolate). Towergate chocolate chunk cookies are also the best I've ever tried, packed with good quality high cocoa content chocolate. I bake, so I'm fussy!

Tesco own brand dark chocolate digestives. The chocolate is rich but thin enough , the biscuits are crisp and ever so slightly salty .

Buzzer3555 · 06/04/2025 16:12

While we're talking plain chocolate digestive. ... Aldi own brand are yummy 😋

Yes, I heard awhile ago that they're just the same as Mcvities!

I think they should wrap them in four packs of 3. Three seems the ideal number to not feel you've been greedy. It doesn't feel right to eat the first three then have to wrap the other 3 back up, that's why I have to eat them too. (she said, unconvincingly)

Tesco milk chocolate Viennese thins, known as 'crack' biscuits in our house because they're equally addictive!

totk · 06/04/2025 16:25

I've been enjoying Penguins recently.

CeeJay81 · 06/04/2025 16:27

Chocolate malted milks, it's difficult to just have a couple.

WhereYouLeftIt · 06/04/2025 16:32

Got to be these - Bahlsen Choco Leibniz Orange. They've gone up massively in price, used to be £1.25, they're sometimes on offer at £1.75. The price rise saves me from myself, I suppose! Grin

I thought these were the best till I tried the Tesco Finest ones, not even the same league! 😋
I do still love a Border Viennese though.

shellyleppard · 06/04/2025 16:38

@Executrixnotextraordinaire ooooh I will have to try them....thank you!!! 😍

The dark chocolate digestives from
Lidl are gorgeous

Oldraver · 06/04/2025 17:09

Lidl chocolate gingers, same as the border ones but thinner and I think nicer
