DC (primary ages) loved it, DH and I thought it was terrible for the most part 😂 interested what anyone else thought if they saw it?

Was pleasantly surprised by it. Was expecting it to bad but it was ok and not to long. DS loved it.

OtherCoraline · 04/04/2025 19:38

@angelopalthe length was pretty much perfect. There were a few funny moments and DC did love it but for the most part we were desperate for it to be over 😂

Just a fairly typical Jack black film really

Is it suitable for a 4yo? A 4yo who scares easily

TonerNeedsReplacing · 04/04/2025 19:41

Yes. DC loved it, I thought it was dreadful, one of the worst films I have seen in a long time. Not helped by the very poor manners of most of the audience but I can’t blame the film for that.

mnahmnah · 04/04/2025 19:46

Oh no… I assumed it would be pretty good given it is much anticipated and such a massive brand! I have to sit through it on Sunday morning!

OldCottageGreenhouse · 04/04/2025 19:49

Yeah it was awful! Super fast hard to follow like all American tv and no proper storyline. DC loved it, I hated it.
One other annoying thing was all the older teenagers cheering & clapping at absolutely nothing (not at significant points of the movie just every 2 mins regardless of what was going on) for what is apparently a new TikTok trend and filming said TikTok’s during the film. It was hell

Marvel23 · 05/04/2025 20:01

I thought it was quite good. Think it probably helps if you play Minecraft. The zombies were scarier than in the game but both my children weren't worried.

Not really.
It's aimed at teens and 20 somethings.

itsgettingweird · 05/04/2025 20:22

Ds (20) and his mates saw it.

They said it was terrible in the grand scheme of things.

I think they had nostalgic ideas of it being a good film - I wasn’t surprised it’s rubbish having seen the trailer 😂

Moier · 05/04/2025 20:24

Two of my Grandsons went today.
Other three going tomorrow.

My older two saw it today and said way to scary for my littlest, won't say why as don't want to spoiler it.

Lookuptotheskies · 05/04/2025 20:24

We went today and we we're also irked by older boys loudly clapping and cheering and shouting out random catchphrases thinking they were hilarious. 😡 Knowing it's a tiktok thing makes sense as it was so odious and brash. Even my six year old was annoyed and questioning what they were all playing at!

I took a six year old, and a teen that isn't feral and doesn't live his life through tiktok 🙄 and both absolutely loved it. I enjoyed it too as far as kid's films go.

IKnowAristotle · 05/04/2025 20:25

I found it more bemusing than bad. Would probably be unbearable if Jason mamoa want in it.

LunchBoxPolice · 05/04/2025 20:25

Took my kids today. 11 year old enjoyed it, 4 year old was a bit scared. I was bored

Lookuptotheskies · 05/04/2025 20:25

@Featherwand no I'd say definitely not suitable for an easily scared four year old.

DrummingMousWife · 05/04/2025 20:26

Dd loved it, dh and I endured it and found the whole thing awful.

TobiasForgesContactLense · 05/04/2025 20:31

Took 9 yo DS today and he loved it. I didn't hate it as much as I thought I would, Jason Momoa is easy on the eye and I got to eat nachos so it was worth it.

Theunamedcat · 05/04/2025 20:33

No-one told me there was singing

The music was terribly chosen there were way better musical choices to be made

It felt a little unfinished unexplained events

It could have been done WAY better and i feel it might have a sequel

DysmalRadius · 05/04/2025 20:52

I was annoyed that the three men went off adventuring and being heroic while the women were left trailing behind them, making a nice house, and barely being seen for 90% of the film (despite the fact that both of them were portrayed as resourceful and capable in the run-up to the action).

localnotail · 05/04/2025 20:59

I went with my DS12, he loved it. I thought it was bloody awful - and I normally like Jack Black and crony stuff like Jumanji etc.

There is barely a storyline, its plodding and boring and its mega cheesy. Jack Black is over the top even for him but if it wasn't for him, the teacher lady and Jason Momoa it would have been totally unwatchable.

Needmorelego · 05/04/2025 21:05

My favourite character was Jason Momoa's pink leather jacket 😂
That needs to win best costume at the Oscars.

Pampampam · 05/04/2025 21:11

Oh we also had to endure hoards of teenagers screeching, clapping, shouting out random phrases on repeat & running around the cinema filming each other. It was massively irritating. I didn’t really understand the film. I couldn’t work out the storyline (probably because we couldn’t hear anything because of the VERY LOUD teenagers) but DS 10 liked it. Wouldn’t recommend.

ShowOfHands · 05/04/2025 21:14

Lots of yelling, clapping, stomping and cheering at random intervals here. Also chucking popcorn and bottles and phones out. Didn't realise it was a TikTok thing and it was pretty irritating. DS was upset as he'd looked forward to it.

It was pretty rubbish but Minecraft fans would be amused enough. Really crap balance of men Vs women annoyingly.

mnahmnah · 06/04/2025 13:09

I quite enjoyed it this morning! No bad behaviour, I laughed out loud a few times and Jason Momoa was good to watch! DC really enjoyed it.
