What colour should I paint the front door?

I need suggestions on what colour to paint our front door. The house is north facing 1910-ish semi detached, red brick with some yellow accent brickwork.

This isn't my house but is similar from rightmove.

I'd really like pale pink but I think it might be too much for DH. I also like red doors, what would you choose?

I like navy blue for a front door. I think pink would be awful. Red OK

I live in a house like that and my neighbour has had their door many colours over the years. My favourite colour they’ve painted it was pink. It was such a lovely colour and always made me smile when I saw it.

A warm chalky pink colour would look fantastic. Make sure it has yellow undertones, not blue

Check whether you are in a conservation area maybe, before choosing a colour.

As soon as I saw your thread title I immediately thought 'pink' by the way, even before opening the thread! I'd go for a raspberry pink though.

Can I throw green into the mix? I read that Edwardian houses usually had green or blue doors.

I now have green doors. They look so bright and cheery in comparison to the previous black ones!

Dusky pink, a Smokey green or a butter yellow!

Sourdoughandjam · 27/03/2025 18:46

I'd go for dusky green

SpottyBumPony · 27/03/2025 18:46

Bit dark but this is our stained glass

Red

Mog65 · 27/03/2025 18:47

Pillar box red

reluctantbrit · 27/03/2025 18:49

Our neighbours just decided on a dark navy. They also had grey and greens in the run up.

I personally find it too dark, I would go with a light grey, red or warm pink

HowToChangeWays · 27/03/2025 18:51

Pink or a sagey color.

TwoRobins · 27/03/2025 19:04

I was going to say red but now not sure if it would go with the stained glass colours.

With those colours I'd say yellow or orange for some vavavoom or, lilac for a calmer more peaceful vibe.

mushroomshroom · 27/03/2025 19:05

I'm jealous of your house! pale pink looks better with white I think

mushroomshroom · 27/03/2025 19:06

& pink is a bit done. Saw a fantastic orange coloured door in North London last week.

Do you have an old piano? 😀

mushroomshroom · 27/03/2025 19:08

Someone round here has a raspberry pink front door, it looks so good

Offtobuttonmoontovisitmrspoon · 27/03/2025 19:10

Green would compliment your stained glass.

Maitri108 · 27/03/2025 19:12

Burnt orange

SpringIsSpringing25 · 27/03/2025 19:13

I know it's not a terribly exciting choice, but I think black would make it look amazing. Tie everything together.

WilfredsPies · 27/03/2025 19:14

Either the yellow that @mushroomshroom has posted above, a raspberry pink, a navy or a sage green. I don’t think stained glass tends to be that vibrant from the outside so you wouldn’t need to stick to that. I’d also go with some big metal handles and a funky knocker.

worcesterpear · 27/03/2025 19:15

Darkgreen, dark blue or dark orange. Youd have to be careful about pink or red in case they clashed with the orange in the stained glass but slightly muted, duskier tones could work.

FairKoala · 27/03/2025 19:20

Which way does it face North I would say blues, blacks etc and south reds, pinks etc I think you need to be guided by the natural light
