What are your little treats to yourself?

A while ago there was a thread about the little things that make you happy and I loved it, can't find it now.
This morning I had a day off work and went for a walk in the sunshine with my friend, then had a coffee and bun afterwards in a lovely cafe and it filled my cup right up. What are the little things that make you happy?

Having a bubble bath then getting into my pyjamas straight after work on a Friday. It's my signal to myself that the weekend has arrived!

Im a cliche. I like books, good coffee, candles.
I also love walks in the woods and day trips.

Quiet mornings - getting up before anyone else, making loose leaf tea, some gentle stretching/yoga on the mat for 15 minutes then drinking the tea in complete peace. Utter bliss.

Is it bad that my first thoughts were all food/drink oriented..?!

A cuppa in the garden in the spring sunshine takes some beating.

Take-away tuna and cheese toastie from local baker's shop. I haven't had one for quite a while. Tomorrow.....................

Scented candles, fairy lights, yoga, sitting in cafés, walking outside, sitting down with a cup of tea in the afternoon.

Love this!

Getting into bed with clean sheets.

Pollydoodledoo · 24/03/2025 19:55

Clean sheets are the dream. I've a bad back so not got an option to change tonight or I'd do it in a heartbeat

Chocolate. It will always be chocolate for me.

Ridiculously overpriced Starbucks drinks, jellycats, driving the long way home in the sunshine with a good soundtrack, FaceTime with international friends, a board game night. Oooh, or test driving a new sweet treat recipe a few weeks before I host, and having far too much to get through sensibly 😋

I set my life up for this. It’s taken time, evolved over years but needed after an awful childhood and early adulthood.
Obviously my children come first but otherwise it’s tiny moments and acts of kindness towards myself throughout the day.
The nice hand cream. The soft clothes. The fresh air. I buy myself flowers, I always always have fresh flowers in the house. I light candles, dinner candle and a scented one, and journal with background YouTube ambience. Yoga. Crochet.

I have a whistling kettle I use once a day and make my tea in a proper tea pot with loose leaf tea. It makes a whole ritual out of it and feels like I’m treating myself.

So lots of little things built into my daily life.

This weekend I bought a bunch of tulips and a reed diffuser for the hallway in my weekly shop, and the fact that the house smells lovely when I walk in and there are flowers on the dining table has made me smile all weekend.

Also, a cup of tea and reading my book in bed for half an hour on a weekend morning feels like such a treat when the alarm goes off at 6.15am in the week.

FcukTheDay · 24/03/2025 20:25

Calippos. Don't ask but they are my happiness.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 24/03/2025 20:27

Warm sunshine on bare skin (free!). Otherwise a cuddle of six from my cats, going for a run and the hot shower afterwards, a good cup of tea beside the fire, buying quirky earrings, getting changed into old but really comfy clothes.

Comedycook · 24/03/2025 20:30

Nice chocolate

Sushi

Daytime naps

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 24/03/2025 20:35

Swimming in some of my favorite places, when the water is like it as at the moment, cold enough to give you proper swimmers grin but warm enough to allow you to stay in for longer. Followed by a sauna and then lunch/cake and chats with my bestie. Or a nice long walk in the hills in sunshine on my own, even better if red kites are out flying or the wild ponies let me have a stroke. A nap on the sofa under my electric blanket! Cuddles with my DH and DD.

Mine is barbecuing on a Saturday evening in the summer with a chilled white, sitting under my Mexican orange tree, streaming Craig Charles Funk and Soul show. I prep, my partner cooks. I’ve discovered so much new music that way.

A new shower gel

A sneaky day or half day off work to do whatever I want on my own (usually spend all my leave doing childcare)

orangetriangle · 24/03/2025 20:44

Individual portions of brie and stilton from M&S. They do 5 for £4 and I just love having one with some crackers as nobody else in the house likes it so it's my little treat to myself.

growinguptobreakingdown · 24/03/2025 21:12
