What are your little treats to yourself?

A while ago there was a thread about the little things that make you happy and I loved it, can't find it now.
This morning I had a day off work and went for a walk in the sunshine with my friend, then had a coffee and bun afterwards in a lovely cafe and it filled my cup right up. What are the little things that make you happy?

When I discover a cafe that does gluten-free cake that’s not in a wrapper…
A hot shower after Park Run…
Spring flowers….
That first drink on a Friday night….
Having my nails done….
A walk in the woods on a sunny day…
A good book on my Kindle….
The flickering and aroma of scented candles….
Being a retired teacher (the novelty hasn’t worn off after 2 years!)
Listening to a children’s choir x

Strong black coffee outside of a morning with the sun on my face. Alone!

Loads when I think about it. A new book or magazine. A hot relaxing soak in the bath. A midday nap or a solo orgasm session (sorry). Nice bottle of prosecco or wine. Vases and homeware stuff from Primark when my home decor needs a little refresh. Most of these things are low/ lowish priced or free but all do wonders for my mental health and keep me happy.

Handmade soap from a local business.
A punnet of out of season soft fruit or pre-prepared mango.
Driving a few miles out of town to walk or run somewhere different.

A pint of beer and a packet of cheese and onion crisps (preferably Walkers) - ideally in front of a pub fire in winter or in a sunny pub garden in summer.

@HeartandSeoul on another thread I mentioned I'd ordered some Jellycat keyrings to put on my work bag, and someone said 'are you 5?????' and it really upset me!

But then I remembered I'm a nearly 40 year old woman who deserves things that make me happy, and if that's little floofy soft toys then so be it. Not hurting anyone!

Agree that jellycats are lovely!
Currently rocking a window display of Spring coloured Bashful bunnies ((1xyellow 1xgreen and 1x brown )
They make me smile when I come home!

If you could, I’d love to hear you share more about how you did this. I know exactly what you’re saying and what brought you to need that (in my own way, I mean) but I don’t know how to treat myself not half-heartedly (or badly if I’m being honest). I feel like a weird nauseating feeling of cringey fraudness come over me-like that feeling when you wear a dress that makes you feel like you’re dressing up in your mum’s clothes and everyone’s going to know you’re not old enough nor sophisticated enough to command that sort of outfit. Ugh am I making any sense? Basically l feel like I need to treat myself well but my self esteem is so low that I feel like a foolish idiot when I try - like I don’t deserve it.

I agree with a pp that it’s cumulative. The more you do, the more you do.
The first time I used scented expensive hand cream, I cried. My inner child felt so loved and cared for. But I also felt conflicted because I felt unworthy of it.

I’ve had a lot of therapy and learned that the only way to heal is through self compassion. I see myself as a child when I’m struggling and imagine treating her, rather than adult me.
Don’t get me wrong, I still struggle with feeling guilty for resting but that just means upping the self care, not beating myself up for feeling guilty.

This is a great way to think of it. To imagine your inner child. Thank you for sharing. I’m glad to hear you’ve made great progress.
