Yes, an amazing house. That’ll do!! Bet will be hugely popular as a lot of people could potentially make that work, over a house in a lovely part of nowhere.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 20/03/2025 10:37

No mention of parking - off street / driveway or garage ?

its ok, but at that value/price I would prefer Ealing / Hampstead Garden Suburb etc. that's prob as I would be a West London / North West London girl.

BigDahliaFan · 20/03/2025 10:44

Oh God yes! If I lived in the UK I'd be buying a ticket. It's gorgeous and that location!.

ShyMaryEllen · 20/03/2025 10:49

It's lovely, and would be an absolutely perfect pied a terre, but at that price (significantly more than my actual house 😉) it wouldn't make sense to keep it for occasional use.

I'm not sure about five floors either.

I think I'd keep it for a year or two, have lots of visitors, then sell it and have a ball with the money. I'd love being near Borough Market while it lasted though.

miamimmmy · 20/03/2025 10:52

Yes, my plan would be broadly the same, live in it until I got tired of London cultural and shopping activities and then flog. It’d be a great year!

lanadelgrey · 20/03/2025 10:52

It’s bang up against the railway line at London Bridge so hope there is double glazing

MrsSkylerWhite · 20/03/2025 10:53

That’ll do.

BridgetRandomfuck · 20/03/2025 10:54

I love it! I love that area and the house is stunning - perfect size for me and DH, I'd move in in a heartbeat. I'm so entering this draw...

MitchamMum · 20/03/2025 11:16

I've entered already! 😅 As others have said, DH and I were saying this morning that we'd live in it for a year or two, enjoy being in central London and then sell up, buy somewhere for £2-3m or so and then bank the rest of the proceeds. 🥳

Peridot1 · 20/03/2025 11:19

I entered. DS would love it. He works in London two days a week and it’s really close to his office. I could also use it as a pied a terre for a while.

I never win anything though!

miamimmmy · 20/03/2025 11:25

Did you see the bit in Amandaland where the loaded love interest has a penthouse and roof terrace, but the building ac machines or something are on the roof terrace and it’s incredibly noisy?

surely noise has got to be a key problem living in central London. I’d suffer it…

ShyMaryEllen · 20/03/2025 12:18

I'm not a Londoner and i like peace and quiet, but I'd put up with noise in return for that location in the knowledge that I'd be moving after a year or two.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 20/03/2025 12:23

It’s a fabulous location. I walked past there last month. If I’d have known I’d have paid more attention!

BarnacleBeasley · 20/03/2025 13:14

I think you can only really keep these houses if (a) you have lots of money already and can afford not to monetise a £4.5 million asset to its full potential, or (b) if you can somehow generate an income that allows you to still use it when you want. I think there would probably be a short term letting market for this house but I suspect it's a bit niche and you probably wouldn't have wall to wall bookings. You'd have to pay a specialist agency to get you clients, which is evidently what the previous owner did: https://www.domusstay.com/magazine/at-home-with-designer-juliette-sherwood

ShyMaryEllen · 20/03/2025 14:05

I'm watching The Replacement on Netflix and the house in that looks similar. Even if it's not the same one, there is probably potential for letting it out for use as a film/TV set.

Did anyone watch the Ch5 programme about Omaze?

It was one big advert, really. There was a mention of the one prone to flooding, but even then they pointed out that it was still worth a lot of money compared to the ticket price. There was nothing about vetting or the persistent rumours about it, and no mention of whether it's possible to opt out of publicity, and both of those things deter some people from entering.

I found it disappointing.

Gundogday · 20/03/2025 21:09

@ShyMaryEllen was planning to watch it later, but don’t think I’ll bother now.

Is the London horse a converted pub or warehouse? It looks quite industrial to me. Love the interiors though, and the retro kitchen floor tiles caught my eye.

I was disappointed too, lost interest and started doing some jobs half way through.

Kucinghitam · 21/03/2025 07:06

That'll do perfectly 😍

We're always talking about how we'd love to move back to London but can't afford it.

frillygillymilly · 21/03/2025 07:09

I love it but would probably have to sell

Sinkintotheswamp · 21/03/2025 07:16

Is the drawback that it doesn't even have a parking space nearby? It's not mentioned on the old estate agent listing. That would be tricky in what is essentially a family house.
We're at the Globe soon, might have a quick look.

Dustmylemonlies · 21/03/2025 07:27

@Gundogday I suddenly know which one you mean. It's right next to the railway line, I've been going past it on the train for the best part of 30 years!

frillygillymilly · 21/03/2025 08:11

it's not like you would do much driving around there though!
