I walk past this every day on the way to work - it is lovely but the area is as noisy as fuck - it's virtually next to a very popular pub with outdoor space and opposite the rail line in to London Bridge.

LOL at the people mithering about parking though - it is is in Zone 1 London and literally a 5 min walk from a massive rail and tube station and multiple 24 hour bus routes.

MitchamMum · 21/03/2025 08:52

We've lived in London for 10yrs, have two DC and we've managed without a car in all that time. Living that close to the centre, we'd need one even less than we (very occasionally) do now. As pp have said, the lack of a parking space is really not a drawback with this house. Plus, if you aren't paying a mortgage, plenty of money leftover to just hire a zipcar on the rare occasion that we couldn't get to where we wanted to be by tube / train.

Kucinghitam · 21/03/2025 10:09

The more I read about this house, the more perfect it sounds! We love Borough Market and foodie things in general. We're already voluntarily car-free and live in an urban area. DC are teens and will thrive in such a good location with the transport links and social life on the doorstep. For the night-time noise I suppose we will have to invest in good earplugs Grin

Is the drawback that it doesn't even have a parking space nearby? It's not mentioned on the old estate agent listing. That would be tricky in what is essentially a family house.
We're at the Globe soon, might have a quick look.

You won’t need to have a car there. Near tube stations and walkable to train stations as well.

PaintDecisions · 21/03/2025 13:55

Here's the exact location.

I would absolutely live in this. Apply for all the badly paid London-based jobs in my life of work that I can't whilst in Cornwall / can't afford to live on and have a few years of fun in the capital!

@PaintDecisions presumably Omaze bought it to sell?

fufulina · 21/03/2025 14:37

It’s on Park Street! Opposite the new Brother Marcus in the now developed arches. I used to walk past it every day to work. Parking would probably be fine with a resident permit. Not that I’d give a shit about parking if that was my house.

MotherWol · 21/03/2025 15:07

Never entered the Omaze draw before, but I’d love that house! Will now spend the rest of the afternoon fantasising about how I’d decorate it to make it a bit more family friendly.

frillygillymilly · 21/03/2025 15:44

i'd be broke living there as I would eat out constantly!

Crunchymum · 21/03/2025 15:52

It's beautifully done (from what I can see) and its much bigger than our house. But as a North Londoner I think we'd have to sell as I couldn't move to that area 😂

Not that I've entered the draw though !!

* only half joking about not being able to live in sarf London!!

PenniesButton · 21/03/2025 17:25

I've entered because wow! I'd move there in a heartbeat. I wouldn't sell it.

Edited

Snap!

Can’t live other side of the river 🤣

VictoriusViking · 21/03/2025 17:59

I'll be selling that when I win it 😉

Not a patch on the Lake District house

CautiousLurker01 · 21/03/2025 19:35

I love this house - we’ve been looking for a place in the area as our kids are both going to uni in London in the next year and DH works there in the week. It even has space for my dogs - would love walking them up and down the south bank and pitching up at a pub or a bar once they are worn out.

CautiousLurker01 · 21/03/2025 19:49

frillygillymilly · 21/03/2025 15:44

My DH said similar (well he said, that kitchen would never get used as he’d be out at the pubs and restaurants every night!)

Heres a full ad for it - sold in Nov 24 apparently. Why is it now up for Omaze?

Eek! The EPC and Council Tax! This going to be very pricey to run!

Looks even better in the Savill’s listing.

PaintDecisions · 21/03/2025 20:47

Band E in Southwark Council is £2295.81/year. Or about £191/month over 12 months.

That is cheap as hell!!

I'm a Band B in Cornwall in a crappy mid terrace with only one proper bedroom and paying £1878.98/ year or £163/month.

Msmoonpie · 21/03/2025 20:49

If I won that I would be selling it straight away to buy somewhere nicer in the countryside. The Lake District or Scotland perhaps.

Its probably a dream property for someone who likes London though.

I would hate it. All the constant noise and its it really much of a garden. Plus doesn’t look like there is parking.

Ginmonkeyagain · 22/03/2025 07:17

No there is no parking because running a car while living there would be the definition of insane. You are in walking distance of multiple tube stations and three major rail terminus'

If I'd won the Lake District or other countryside houses, I'd have sold them straightaway to buy a property in the middle of a big city Grin

Don't get me wrong, I love visiting the countryside and the nature and birdsong and the dark skies for stargazing and understand that the way of life is totally different and perfect for those who love it. But the idea of me having to live there all the time, having to drive everywhere even to pick up a pint of milk... not for me.

That’s kind of how we feel - plus our kids are going to be living in London and DH works there. We’d sell our current home and buy a cottage in the country and divide our time, though.

jackstini · 22/03/2025 07:33

Not for me. DH hates London and his first comment was ‘it’s not even detached’!

I would sell it and buy somewhere in a beautiful location with plenty of land - good luck to those who love it and have entered though

Diorchristian · 22/03/2025 07:46

The garden is designed by gold medal Chelsea winner.

Only 3 bed 😱 other bedroom is lower ground floor!

I adore it and would be very happy there yes I'd prefer the other side but if I could afford it for a few years I'd move in a flash.
