Ugh. Fucking bastard scammers (nectar)

Had an email saying thank you for spending your points today. Only…I hadn’t! Someone else has spent them. Luckily it was only 500 points (£2.50) but still. Contacted nectar and they have cancelled my card and are sorting out a new one with my points restored. But ffs

There’s another, older thread about this scam. We had thousands of points stolen by someone in a store in London (obviously not us using them) and it took months to get Nectar to send new physical cards - I use the app but DH won’t so he insisted on a card and they took an age to send it despite promising it had been dispatched when it hadn’t. They refunded the points.

BTW you do need a physical card if you ever buy petrol at a Sainsburys pay-at-pump garage as it doesn’t accept the app to credit Nectar points.

You &Yours on R4 has run a couple of items on this after they were inundated with people saying their points had gone. Then one man worked out how the scammers were doing it, no need for the card or even knowing the number to start with. It’s embarrassingly easy for someone reasonably clued up and determined. Or was - fingers crossed the lock feature will put paid to the thefts.

After Nectar sending me a new card i though all was sorted, but when i logged in yesterday to check my points ( and yes they have returned my 500 stolen points) i have noticed that i had points added from 2 transactions yesterday, one was me in my local store and one was someone else ( same store as where my points were previously stolen).
Further down on the statement i saw some points added on the 15th of march in Central London Station- i have never been there or haven't had a phisical card then and my nectar account app was actually not working then after i complained about stolen points.
I feel like closing the acand never shopping there again tbh.

I’ve just had an email thanking me for spending 10500 points in East London - I’m in Surrey! I’ve just phoned Nectar and have been told they will send a new card and reimburse the points, don’t know how long that will take. Such a nuisance as I shop in my local store several times a week. Once I get the new card, I shall lock it as I have the app. Really pissed off!
