What toothpaste was red, and can you still get it?

When I was young, in the seventies, we had a toothpaste that was red, and from memory see through rather than solid. It don’t taste minty, but was still very refreshing. Definitely not strawberry, maybe an aniseed or something?

I’d love to get it again if it were still made. I’m wondering if maybe it was Colgate, but maybe that’s just cos of the box colour.

can anyone help me identify it?

Close up ???

Cattery · 08/03/2025 16:59

Think Close Up was stripey? Did Corsodyl used to be red? Some smokers toothpaste powder in a tin was pink but I can’t think what it was called

Girasoli · 08/03/2025 16:59

Maybe corsadyl...pink/light red, slightly salty taste. It's the one for your gums.

It was Gordon Moore’s Cosmetic toothpaste.

kizzywizz · 08/03/2025 17:27

Gordon Moores cosmetic toothpaste was red, it was said to dye your gums redder so as to make your teeth look whiter.

BalaconBalonz · 08/03/2025 17:59

Signal also had a red toothpaste

I thought that was striped red and white.

PickAChew · 08/03/2025 18:13

Cherish? I used to ask for that one. Tasted lovely.

Waitingfordoggo · 08/03/2025 18:14

I don’t remember one here but you used to be able to get a lovely red sparkly toothpaste in France back in the 90s- not sure if they still sell it. I think it had a matador or something on the tube. It was either cinnamon or aniseed, can’t remember which but I loved it.

Sorry OP, clearly not the one you’re thinking of but you jogged my memory!
