What do you picture when you hear the word 'heaven'

Regardless of whether you believe in religion or life after death, something must come to your mind.

For me I've always pictured a warm and bright summer day, with no clouds on the sky. And fields of soft grass with all sorts of pretty flowers.

A really lush, bountiful, rainforest type landscape. Nature showing her most beautiful & healthy self. Lots of water, trees, fresh air. Living creatures living in harmony together and a feeling of peace, community, support & tranquility everywhere.

Clouds.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/03/2025 22:11

A pale blue summer sky, with fluffy cloudsz

IMissSparkling · 02/03/2025 22:12

Bright fluffy white clouds. Like the ones you see when you're up in an aeroplane.

zzplec · 02/03/2025 22:12

A big cloud with people walking around on it.

Chuchoter · 02/03/2025 22:17

A big forest full of dogs roaming free.

No, no, no. There are no dogs in heaven.

Big fluffy clouds and some big ornate gates. That's it. Presumably put together in my brain from published images or paintings I've seen over the years. Nothing else.

Something I imagined while reading The Last Battle by CS Lewis. A very bright sunny landscape looking like the backdrop of an Italian Renaissance painting, a green valley with beautiful castles on high hills in the background, far away but the air so clean that they look close. People running tirelessly over the grass.

Moonmelodies · 02/03/2025 22:31

Longstanding gay nightclub in London.

Talipesmum · 02/03/2025 22:32

Nothing really, maybe cartoon images of sunbeams and clouds a la Monty python :-)

stanleypops66 · 02/03/2025 22:40

The Man Utd player as I watched the FA cup game a few hours ago.

Bingbangboo · 02/03/2025 22:41

I think it's like your best day here, only you get to live in that day forever.

tiggergoesbounce · 02/03/2025 22:43

Clouds and peace.
People looking down on us with love.

pollypocket90 · 02/03/2025 22:48

Big fluffy white clouds ☁️

WellsAndThistles · 02/03/2025 22:52

I don't have any faith and picture nothing, in the same way I did not know anything before I was born, I won't know anything after I'm dead.

I do hope I'm proved wrong and there will be pearly gates with all my pets lined up waiting for me though.

mynameiscalypso · 02/03/2025 23:00

The song by DJ Sammy.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 02/03/2025 23:36

Blue sky with people floating on clouds x

Rolypolyup · 02/03/2025 23:47

Everyone I've lost continuing their lives when they were at their best. No pain or sadness. The pets we said goodbye to over the years are where they should be, the childhood houses are the same with all the happy memories. The places visited are all there. I imagine it as if everything is in view in faded memory bubbles that can be visited at any time. It's white around the memory bubbles and silent and perfect.

HowcanIhelp123 · 02/03/2025 23:49

I have aphantasia so I can never picture anything! But the Bryan Adams song comes to mind.

Spudthespanner · 02/03/2025 23:56

Immediately: clouds and all the usual bollocks you think of when you're a kid

Upon proper reflection: a state of oblivion and oneness with the universe, a state of total symbiotic understanding when your atoms have returned to the universe and you can see everything and nothing all at once, past, present, future and everything in between that we can't conceive of.

Deep stuff.

RogueFemale · 02/03/2025 23:57

Planet Earth without humans.

Helloyouok · 03/03/2025 00:00

The images always change in my head but the way I'd imagine I feel in heaven is always warm. Like that first feel of sun on your back on a beautiful summer's day warm, or that first rush of warmth you get when you step off the plane at your holiday destination. It would always feel like that first wave of heat, and never uncomfortably hot.

inkblink · 03/03/2025 00:01

Clouds mainly, and then if I think about it I start to get concerned about how overcrowded it must be (I get a bit too literal)
Also, your best day over and over, or eternal peace, or unchanging perfect weather just doesn't seem right to me - its so far from human experience and I think I'd get bored.
