Do you have these near you ? Just sat in one - what an utter soulless place !

Lovely pastries but what a hype !

Remind me not to visit again

@ChickpeaCauliflowerSalad I know - we live in Bath and even in cafe Nero which is hardly thrilling thst would be around £8 and somewhere nicer more like £10

Oh and last year when visiting my somewhat run down midlands home town ( ex mining town) I actually found a rare cute attractive cafe in the posher bit of town and it was £9.75 for coffee and a very nice cake/tart thing - so it isn’t always the case that it’s expensive because you are in a posh area- if you are the only game in town with little competition on ‘naice’ then those places can be pricey too - no different I guess to housing in very nice parts of not that nice towns/citys- everyone with a bit more cash gravitates to them and hence the price commands a premium- here Gail’s seems to do no better than many other places because we have a ton of choice of ‘nice’ places. What I will say though is they have the consistency of a chain - lots of other lovely individual places here can be erratic in terms of opening/shutting/days and you never know if you will walk over there to find they are shut at unexpected times

Yeah, it does look (& sound) good, I'm not supposed to eat bread, & generally don't, so small us good really!

ChickpeaCauliflowerSalad · 04/10/2025 13:22

And something to bring home for later xx

PeonyPatch · 04/10/2025 13:59

I personally love Gail’s and wouldn’t want to see them off our high street. I recommend the Gail’s bakery recipe book too x

Yes but the Gail’s ones are really teeny,

Like the ones my mum used to make herb h had a dolls tea party.

I hope all the Gail's Bakeries being talked up here are not their employees. Also, hopefully the hygiene standards are better. Seems to me to be a franchise company only interested in the bottom line.

Crikeyalmighty · 04/10/2025 18:35

@StewkeyBlue I know - they do very nice ( and good sized) sausage rolls though- but so do lots of other places here -

GingerBeverage · 04/10/2025 18:36

Not an employee, thank goodness.

They have their pros and cons, same as any chain.

PropertyD · 04/10/2025 19:12

I hate queuing to get food but I had a good coffee and almond crossiant today. Greggs really aren’t the same at all

Daisychainsandglitter · 04/10/2025 21:01

I’ve been intrigued by all the hype around them and was planning a visit. Thanks to the posters that have helpfully pointed out Birmingham’s one star hygiene rating I can definitely say that I’ll be giving it a miss and sticking with Medicine if I want a nice coffee and cake.

PeonyPatch · 05/10/2025 06:33

Not an employee… sadly… I’d love to work there 😂🤭😋

Good food for takeaway train journey in London I find! I never eat in though.
