But don’t.
I really wanted to enjoy Gladiators as I loved it as a kid and DD is the same age I was when it originally aired but I feel like it never really gets going. We still watch it every week though.
baths. I always fancy one but either run it too hot or too cold and then get bored straight away.

Whisky. I want to sit at a leather chair with a Labrador by my feet next to a fire and enjoy a whisky and a book. I’m luck enough to have all the elements of that in my life except for a love of whisky!

ApplesandAardvarks · 23/02/2025 08:07

Tomatoes. I love tomato based sauces but I hate raw tomatoes and also cooked tomatoes on things. It’s frustrating because they look so good and would make a nice addition to a salad.

DilemmaDelilah · 23/02/2025 08:08

Dippy eggs and soldiers. I wish I liked boiled eggs. I imagine they must be absolutely delicious if you do.

Chillies. I can't stand them in anything , and they seem to be in everything. It makes it quite difficult to eat out!

Tomatoes are better for you cooked anyway.

Going to the races.
We' ve got a racecourse nearish to us and occasionally take guests out there for a day.
I get absolutely nothing out of it, I haven't got the gambling gene, I'd rather ride than watch horses, I am bored by the social side.
I wish I did like it.

MoodEnhancer · 23/02/2025 08:14

Completely agree re: baths OP. I’m bored in minutes!

I also wish I could enjoy eating fish and eggs but even though I try again at least once a year, I can’t stand the taste of either.

MsMajeika · 23/02/2025 08:16

Going for walks. It's so healthy to get out and about in the fresh air, but I just find it so unappealing. Walking around aimlessly just doesn't do it for me.

Also, I'd love to enjoy exercising but I find it uncomfortable and boring. It also gives me a headache and I don't get an endorphin rush like most do.

TravellingSpoon · 23/02/2025 08:17

Running.

There are quite a few running groups nearby and whenever I see them running and chatting I always think it must be really fun. I also love the idea of getting up on a Saturday morning for a parkrun.

I have tried so many times to like running, even did the whole couch to 5k but detested every minute of it.

chelseahealyslips · 23/02/2025 08:21

Swimming. Absolutely can't be arsed with the ordeal of it. Getting your shit ready before you go, other people in pools, changing rooms, putting on your clothes still damp, wet hair, the smell of chlorine. Fuck off.

yes I'm fully a misery about it and i do go and take my kids swimming but also no.

Bey · 23/02/2025 08:26

Coffee, I hate the taste but always like the idea of the pumpkin spiced lattes or Christmassy types in coffee shops. Also I think it would be good if I enjoyed it at the minute as I'm permanently exhausted with a toddler and baby and tea just doesn't cut it

Catinabox21 · 23/02/2025 08:28

Coffee.

Having young DC, I wish I could drink it for its pick-me-up properties. But the taste is just revolting to me, reminds me of when you don't take medication with enough water and the tablets start to dissolve in your mouth.

Have tried to force down a cup in times of serious sleep deprivation fand just can't do it.

Catinabox21 · 23/02/2025 08:29

@Bey snap!

BlumminFreezin · 23/02/2025 08:29

Wine. I would love to go for a nice meal with dh and select a lovely bottle to share. He loves wine.

To me, it tastes like cleaning fluid (white) or vinegar (red). Blah.

BitOutOfPractice · 23/02/2025 08:30

Porridge. Hot chocolate. Fruit tea.

love the idea, smell, look of all three. Can’t stand the taste and/or texture.

I run three times a week even though I loathe it. The best part is stopping.

amymel2016 · 23/02/2025 08:33

Salmon, I love the idea of a nice salmon fillet but hate the taste.

BestImitationOfMyself · 23/02/2025 08:33

Yes to porridge! I love the smell, know it's healthy and the idea of a warm conforming winter breakfast is great. The texture makes me feel nauseous. Like slimy, lumpy wallpaster paste. Every few years I think must try again it smells lush when DP makes it. Nope.

MegTheForgetfulCat · 23/02/2025 08:34

Swimming. I really wish I enjoyed it but I hate it and always end up getting cramp in my leg.

Football. It can be such a good conversation starter in work settings but I just couldn't care less whether Randomville Rovers beat Othertown United or not, or whether a particular player moves to a new club.

StripyMug · 23/02/2025 08:36

Baked beans. So easy, nutritious, look good on thick white toast, the ultimate cosy comfort food...but even just the idea of eating them makes me feel sick!

I was about to post the exact same thing!

About one run in 20 I think “oh that wasn’t so bad” and that Lulls me into a false sense of being an enthusiastic runner but 20 years in I can’t kid myself any more. I hate it.

GrandHighPoohbah · 23/02/2025 08:41

Skiing. The idea of whooshing down a mountain on a crisp winter day is lovely, but the reality of having to schlep to a resort nowhere near the airport, the wetness of snow, and the feeling of obligation to ski every day of your holiday just doesn't stack up.

HalfTermHoliday · 23/02/2025 08:44

I agree with coffee. I like the smell and like the idea, but I just can't do it. I was quite a fussy child but pushed through lots of things in my teens and early 20s and now there is almost nothing I won't eat and enjoy. So coffee annoys me, because it's such a social thing!

See also beer!

Beautifying myself - eyebrows, hair care beyond wash and dry, make up, keeping on top of the luscious forest of leg hair etc. I really like the results when I do make an effort and want to fight against looking like an old troll, but when it actually comes to booking an appointment for an eyebrow shape or getting the epilator out (to be fair I'm sure no one actively enjoys this) or realising I need to shop for a decent foundation or another moisturiser - I just cannot be arsed, and I really dislike and resent the faff of it. So I'm semi-troll and used to it!

Love Gladiators though 😄

Same. I love actual swimming, but the faff of remembering everything you need and the changing rooms and getting dressed while you're still damp puts me right off.
