Maybe someone should start a new thread - could be called "Beyond Brexit: Thread 1" Wink - and ignore the thread started by the poster who is incapable of engaging with real arguments.

DuncinToffee · 19/02/2025 17:39

I wonder if the Trump bootlickers supporters/apologist will be issuing statements soon

Badenoch has issued a decent statement at last.

Farage hasn't.

Amazing how fast Farage can take to social media when it suits him.

DuncinToffee · 19/02/2025 18:41

Yes she has

"President Zelensky is not a dictator.

"He is the democratically elected leader of Ukraine who bravely stood up to Putin’s illegal invasion.

Under my leadership, and under successive Conservative Prime Ministers, we have and always will stand with Ukraine."

Surely Farage has checked the polling -
YouGov has just 3% of Britons agreeing with Trump/Putin that Ukraine started the war.

Llttledrummergirl · 19/02/2025 19:20

I was just coming on to ask this question, who has come out in support of Ukraine, do we have consensus amongst the parties?

Badenoch was bothering me that she hadn't made a statement.

It looks as though the bigger parties are on the same page, have we heard from any of the others? What are the devolved nations parliaments saying?

I think I might have a nosey, but so far I'm struggling to keep up on here so if anyone has read anything I'd be grateful.

Unsurprisingly. Trump’s just trying to gaslight the world now.

The most recent I could find from John Swinney

Llttledrummergirl · 19/02/2025 19:55

Thank you @PickAChew it sounds as though they are on the same page as well.

.We seem to have consensus from the larger parties throughout the Uk.

PandoraSox · 19/02/2025 20:02

Farage is a coward. He hasn't got the guts to either stand up for his "friend" or condemn him.

BREAKING: Keir Starmer has spoken to President Zelenskyy and backed him after Trump’s attacks.

“The PM expressed his support for Zelenskyy as Ukraine’s democratically elected leader and said that it was perfectly reasonable to suspend elections during war time as the UK did during World War II."

PickAChew · 19/02/2025 21:26

It's a bit rich Trump calling Zelensky a dictator when he's being all pally with Putin (we all know what sort of elections Russia has) and is known to be doing his damnedest to break the constitution and keep the Republicans in power for as long as possible. The guy really is projecting too much.

PickAChew · 20/02/2025 00:19

That Daily Star front page!

That's brilliant!!!!! Grin

Cheguevarahamster · 20/02/2025 06:48

Brilliant front page from the star.

From politico "The Kremlin seemed barely to believe its luck, as Trump was essentially parroting many of Moscow’s talking points about Ukraine."

dnac · 20/02/2025 07:17

Where are the dissenting voices in the US? The silence is deafening. I am amazed that there is seemingly so little apparent opposition to the craziness that is Trump. What about former democratic presidents or challengers? Or is Trump/Musk closing down free speech in the US? There are over 300 million citizens in the US. Surely someone has the heft to stand up and be counted against Trump.

PickAChew · 20/02/2025 07:27

Many of them are losing their jobs, @dnac and I suspect the US media won't be reporting too heavily on what those who do still have a degree of influence are saying.

Piggywaspushed · 20/02/2025 07:28

At the moment they are all depressed and , to be honest, frightened.

Cheguevarahamster · 20/02/2025 08:15

Pence did denounce Trump's claim that Ukraine started the war, but it's been radio silence from past presidents which is pretty depressing.

BIossomtoes · 20/02/2025 08:17

Incredibly depressing. What’s the matter with Clinton and Obama?

cakeorwine · 20/02/2025 08:17

I see Trump is now King Trump now

BIossomtoes · 20/02/2025 08:24

Oh the irony. Doesn’t he know what “republican” means?

SerendipityJane · 20/02/2025 08:45

cakeorwine · 20/02/2025 08:17

To be fair he is descended directly from George III.

cardibach · 20/02/2025 11:14

I cam across this on Facebook, so some people are at least suggesting it needs fighting - though the chance of his solution being followed is slim to none I reckon. m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid02in83afGbvY3JgYR3KhGE1jbyUWgysopjTFsquBVL6JU3uEZaxwpPYhMo2FSTFgeYl&id=793874029

cardibach · 20/02/2025 11:16

I’m disappointed in Obama. I’d have thought he would have the balls, and the personal reach, to be reported on this - even if only abroad. A,Erica n media could be tricky, I can see that.
But it’s crickets.
