I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot, after feeding Mountaineer Kitten and his sister their breakfast. He settled down in bed with me for an extra hour this morning, so that was nicer than the usual chaos until I admit defeat 🤣. He's vanished off back to bed now, and his sister's sat looking out the window in here.

I have an assortment of things I'd like to get done today, first one being put braising steak in the slow cooker when I next get up. I need to take up some jeans for dd2 but have forgotten to bring my sewing machine down 🙄, and have some trousers of my own to alter. And I have a small pile of things to list on Vinted - I'll probably do that after putting the slow cooker on. Once all that's done, I'll get out my paints to paint some more peg dolls for displays at work, & some UK flags for use in class not sure how to tackle the Welsh Dragon yet.

The girls are off to town since dd1's not been allocated today's shift - dd1 needs conditioner so I've told them they can nip in Sainsbury's for some chicken of some sort for dd2's tea since she won't eat braising steak. We'll see what else they come back with!

Tonight is usually Self Care Sunday, scrubby everything shower night, but the person who has done a dreadful job of sorting the bathroom leak (it still leaks ffs!) has done something and we have a trickle from the taps/shower, so I'll wait til it's fixed tomorrow. It'd help if they'd sent a plumber really, instead of plasterer, but what do I know 🙄.

After dreadful showers all round, I'll settle down with my book for a while, and the girls will probably continue watching the series dd1 started last night. I'll be in bed waaaaaay before them since it's half term.

What about all of you? 🙂

I lay in bed reading, knowing that really I should get up and do some marking. I'm off for a walk, off to B and Q then going to tackle marking. It half term for me too, but my plan is to get school work done at the beginning- hate it hanging over me. I have got to make a chicken casserole snd might make a rice pudding. Following a restrictive diet that is a real pain at the moment. All this cooking needs to be done without making mess as 2 valuers coming tomorrow. Have a good dayy all.

Fairyvocals · 16/02/2025 09:16

Your bathroom situation sounds very frustrating, @lucysmam!

I’m on the sofa, drinking coffee and waiting for my croissants to bake.
DD’s messing around upstairs and DP’s trying to do a bit of work.

No Sunday club for DD today, so we’ll have to find something else to tire her out - she’s madly hyper at the moment. Might take her to the local country park which has an adventure playground.

Pasta for lunch - not sure exactly what - and sandwiches for supper. I need to do loads of laundry - hate having DD’s school uniform hanging around and clogging up the laundry basket!

Once DD’s finally in bed, I’m hoping to read some more of my book - the new Elly Griffiths, about time-travelling detectives (!) - and watch the last two eps of Amandaland.

pinkstripeycat · 16/02/2025 09:18

Sunday is my only day off and DH usually gets up at 5am for work. Today he didn’t have work so I woke up without an alarm and it was lovely.

Had brekky and coffee. I’m downstairs and not even dressed! Am watching crap TV.

Feel like I should do something but scared of the day disappearing too fast.

Will do some washing and take DS17 out for a couple of drives. It’s my job so to be honest, still feel like I’m working.

Crunchymum · 16/02/2025 09:19

No plans yet today. Which is a rarity. Even if we stay in, I usually have a list of jobs that need doing but today we're all having a proper day off.

The kids have dragged out all the lego. We have 4 large boxes of it. So that will keep them busy for a while.

I'm in the middle of culling the kids old school books. I feel terrible but they all have so many old school books. I'm keeping their nursery and reception stuff but the rest of it is going to be recycled.

Shopping due after 10 but I'm missing a few ingredients so I need to pop out at some point.

We may visit inlaws later as they have some other family staying (but it depends on the guests plans today as they've got so many people to see in a short space of time!)

The house already looks like a bombsite but no real point in having a major clean with it being half term.

Dinner will be lamb neck fillets, minted new potatoes and green veg (kids having a chicken version as they aren't keen on lamb!)

We have started the David Attenborough series again so we'll watch one of those this evening.

pinkstripeycat · 16/02/2025 09:20

Crunchymum

Will you donate them to a school? World book day is coming up and schools often ask for donations

Zippedydodah · 16/02/2025 09:26

Good morning everyone, I keep forgetting to look for your threads @lucysmam, or I remember on a Monday afternoon 🙄
I was up just after 7 so I have cleaned the kitchen, put a load of washing on, sorted out the utility room where DH thinks he can just dump anything and it will magically rehome itself 🤬 - a fair few bits are in recycling or the other bin!
I’ve just finished my coffee and I’m going to go down the garden and brush up the leaves and detritus that’s accumulated in the corner where my little shed is, I need to sort out the racks there too, more of dh’s crap has mysteriously been dumped there instead of in his shed (which is full of junk)
It almost looks like the sun is coming out, wouldn’t that be wonderful!

lucysmam · 16/02/2025 09:27

@Fairyvocals it's been ongoing for several years now! Landlord & various tradespeople ignore my suggestion to look for the leak in the one place they haven't looked 🤷‍♀️ then this repair they sent a flippin' plasterer who does "odd bits" of plumbing & he's buggered up the, previously fine, water pressure somehow. For the money the LL's spent, he could have had a new bloody bathroom fitted!

I'm currently enjoying the bath as have been in hospital past 4 days with very young ill dd, we are home but have to go back in twice a day for treatments. Things are improving gradually and we are soooo happy to see after almost 3 years of her being ill since a baby she's had surgery and is on the mend. However it's a long term illness, basically lifelong sadly, but with the right treatment and always advancing medication we will get there and have her comfortable.

Im going to treat her with dad to some special toys and hopefully once treatment at hospital has ended I would love to take her to the garden centre to see the rabbits and the fish. She'd love that.

Dinner tonight is kebab wraps and salad.
Can't wait. Barely ate anything in horses piddle.

FlorencenotRatchet · 16/02/2025 09:30

Morning @lucysmam and all happy Sunday.
Just back from a run. Sunday is normally my longer run day but could only manage 4 miles today. I didn't run in the week and it really makes a difference to my stamina.
Cheered myself up with a Gail's chocolate and cherry scone on the way home.
Quick bath and some washing to do before going to see the new Bridget Jones film later this morning.
A half roast for dinner then will probably watch the BAFTAs later.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Rowgtfc72 · 16/02/2025 09:36

Morning!
Just had bacon butties on the sofa with dh and the doggo while watching The Simpsons.
Few errands today then back to mils absolutely cram full flat to pack it up as she's now in a carehome permanently and we've got 3 weeks to clear the flat for the council.
Dd may surface at some point after dinner!

tintinsanfran123 · 16/02/2025 09:39

In bed with a coffee, DH making some cooked breakfast downstairs and DS playing Minecraft. Got a cold so will be a fairly take it easy day - out for a walk in the local country park and an afternoon cuppa and scones or cake when we get back. Obligatory load or two of laundry too as it’s rare we can take a day off from that particular chore!

Hatcoat · 16/02/2025 09:40

I'm currently in isolation after some medical treatment. Might go for a walk today (I can walk past people but not stand and chat for any period of time) if stays dry. Not much else I can do as I don't read or do gardening or knit/sew. I'm not allowed to bake as can't touch food for anyone else.

Trulybloodymassive · 16/02/2025 09:40

Morning! I always miss these threads. I am up despite having very little sleep with nearly 5 week old DD. Thought we'd cracked sleeping for more than 15 mins at a time but apparently not! She's finally conked out in her next 2 me so don't want to move and disturb her. My sister and her partner are coming to visit today and we're going to walk to the garden centre cafe a mile away. I'm hoping that the gorgeous little whale outfit DSis bought for DD last time she was here will now fit. She's a dinky dot so only just fitting into her newborn outfits.

Later we'll have a mini roast and catch up on Amandaland!

JingsMahBucket · 16/02/2025 09:40

Morning @lucysmam and everyone. I had a nice scrubby shower yesterday and deep conditioned my hair. I felt like a new woman afterwards.

I’m currently still in bed, cocooning from the cold. OH is in the living room watching TV on his iPad. I might listen to some more of my audiobook before getting up to eat breakfast. Today will be laundry and folding the several dry loads; meal planning; breaking up and freezing the bulk meat from our recent Tesco order; updating the freezer inventory; and then doing some client work. Oh and playing one of my iPad games.

I really just want to keep cocooning for now though. Dinner tonight may be bacon and mushroom crustless quiche with salad. I have no clue though. My brain is a bit tired from a full day yesterday and I just want to take it easy today. The skies are cloudy and grey so I just to be cozy. Have a good Sunday everyone!

gingercat02 · 16/02/2025 09:43

Morning all, having breakfast before I go to my class.
Need to call into mums on the way home to water her plants.
The afternoon will be taken up with sorting, ironing, and packing for DS to go to Iceland on Thursday at 3am!
His trainers are in the wash already.
Then an easy tea, maybe fajitas, a bit of telly, and a Sunday evening vino 🍷

Fairyvocals · 16/02/2025 09:43

@Judgejudysno1fan I’m glad
your DD’s doing better and you’re getting to enjoy a bath! My DD spent a lot of time in hospital as a baby and it’s such a weird combination of frightening, stressful and incredibly boring.

Fairyvocals · 16/02/2025 09:45

@lucysmam I had a leak problem like that in the bathroom of my old place. Endless odd job men and plumbers failing to fix it while water poured through the flat downstairs’ light fitting! Hope you manage to get them to look at the one place left to investigate ASAP.

Andnowshesatoddler · 16/02/2025 09:46

It's a is it nap time type of day here little girl has been up since dawn and has far too much energy today 😆

Susiesue61 · 16/02/2025 09:50

Lying in bed at my sisters, really need to get up!! Going to mum and dads for lunch, then 2 trains to get home 🤨 Will make tea and hope that DH comes in happy from the footy. DD working a night shift so will have a lovely quiet evening

DilemmaDelilah · 16/02/2025 09:51

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I have had my breakfast in bed and I'm about to sort out some laundry. Later on this morning we're going to pick up some knitting needles that have been, very kindly, offered to me by a lady on our local Facebook page.

I'm going to do some more knitting/crocheting this afternoon - testing out the yarn in the cones I got from the second hand craft shop yesterday. It's quite fine, so I'm thinking probably a small crochet hook. I tried out some more Tunis stitch yesterday but it really is too fiddly and I'm not sure I can be faffed with it. I think bog standard crochet is more for me. There were 3 100g balls of bobbly yarn (not boucle) in yesterday's haul.... I had thought that might be enough for middle grandson (11) to make himself a scarf but I'm doubting that now. Mr Dilemma will be taking him to the charity shops to look for more wool so maybe they can find something similar there.

Our (very expensive) pork chops yesterday evening were a great disappointment. They were nice and tender, but they had lumps of cartilage in odd places through them. I won't be buying those again. The pommes parmentier were a triumph though! Not sure what we will be eating tonight - it depends what Mr Dilemma unearths from the freezer for me to cook. I think it will probably be pasta with (sausage)meatballs. As he is retired and I am not, it was agreed that he would do the meal planning. Unfortunately, although he is good at the actual cooking, he doesn't do planning, so unless we discuss it in detail in advance so that he knows exactly what to take out of the freezer and when - it tends to be a bit hit and miss, so we eat more bought frozen food than I like really. I know the sausage meat will defrost in time for me to make the meatballs so it is either that or fish in batter for tonight I think.

Have a lovely day everyone!

mamaduckbone · 16/02/2025 09:55

Happy Sunday @lucysmam and all.
We've got SIL and BIL staying so we're off for a big walk along the canal shortly, with a coffee and cake stop in the middle.

They're setting off home at lunchtime, so this afternoon I'm planning a long bath, I want to finish my book, roast chicken for dinner and an evening without thinking about work tomorrow, as it's half term.
