Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot, after feeding Mountaineer Kitten and his sister their breakfast. He settled down in bed with me for an extra hour this morning, so that was nicer than the usual chaos until I admit defeat 🤣. He's vanished off back to bed now, and his sister's sat looking out the window in here.

I have an assortment of things I'd like to get done today, first one being put braising steak in the slow cooker when I next get up. I need to take up some jeans for dd2 but have forgotten to bring my sewing machine down 🙄, and have some trousers of my own to alter. And I have a small pile of things to list on Vinted - I'll probably do that after putting the slow cooker on. Once all that's done, I'll get out my paints to paint some more peg dolls for displays at work, & some UK flags for use in class not sure how to tackle the Welsh Dragon yet.

The girls are off to town since dd1's not been allocated today's shift - dd1 needs conditioner so I've told them they can nip in Sainsbury's for some chicken of some sort for dd2's tea since she won't eat braising steak. We'll see what else they come back with!

Tonight is usually Self Care Sunday, scrubby everything shower night, but the person who has done a dreadful job of sorting the bathroom leak (it still leaks ffs!) has done something and we have a trickle from the taps/shower, so I'll wait til it's fixed tomorrow. It'd help if they'd sent a plumber really, instead of plasterer, but what do I know 🙄.

After dreadful showers all round, I'll settle down with my book for a while, and the girls will probably continue watching the series dd1 started last night. I'll be in bed waaaaaay before them since it's half term.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. Feeling chilled as I’m not working today (was mega busy yesterday). DH & I are still in bed & have had a cuppa made by me. Tried decaff tea recently but the jury’s still out on that one! DD16 is giggling away next door on her phone, probably to her best friend. She wants to come with me to Asda later so she can get snacks for a sleepover here tomorrow. I’m getting pizzas for DH & me for tea plus a few more bits. I might ask DD to give me a make up tutorial later. She helped me to buy a whole new set a few weeks ago & then did my make up for me but I haven’t used it since. Would like to paint my nails but waiting until my hands look less like dried leaves! DH & I watched a film on Netflix last night & found quite a few others we liked the look of so will probably put one on tonight. No Call The Midwife because of The BAFTAs which is annoying - they could put it on BBC 2. Have a great Sunday all & sending warm wishes to anyone ill or sad ❤️

Will you donate them to a school? World book day is coming up and schools often ask for donations

I mean their actual work books. Not reading books.

We never cull reading books, which is why the house is bulging with them 😂

It's just years and years of x3 kids school work.

My brain is saying ‘hibernate, hibernate, hibernate’ and it’s quite difficult to rally against that today as so grey and cold outside!

Although I am wfh Monday and Tuesday so I feel that I should get myself and DD out for a walk somewhere this afternoon, then Roast chicken for tea and probably a film for both of us to watch.

Morning mumsnetters!

A quiet one for me today. I've got the stinking cold that is going around, so I'm going to take it easy.

I've got about 100 pages left of my book, so I'm going to have a nice cup of tea and a big cream bun that I definitely don't need to be eating and do some reading.

This afternoon I'll do some cleaning and make my lunch for work tomorrow as I'm in the office. I haven't a clue what dinner will be but something easy - no energy for a roast I'm afraid. Then it'll be the scrubby shower & bed early!

Have a lovely Sunday everyone Flowers

Tiddlersfish · 16/02/2025 10:29

Happy Sunday all!

DD woke up at 6 this morning and promptly came into our room to jump on me, so have been up since the crack of dawn. 7 month old DS slept for longer than the 5 year old today so it’s going to be quite the day.

Found a pack of pigs in blankets from Christmas in the freezer so we’ve just had those with scrambled eggs for breakfast - now watching Sunday brunch with a coffee.

DD has gymnastics later so will pop to the shop to get DFs birthday card and present and go and see him afterwards. He has stage 4 cancer and is having a rough time at the minute so getting him some botanical Lego to keep him entertained seeing as he can’t get into his beloved garden for a potter.

Have a great day everyone

Morning @lucysmam & Sunday Gang

Nice slow morning so far, with a bath and bacon sarnies.

Will get myself dressed and out to Dunelm for washing baskets shortly. I’ll need a further browse while I’m there to make sure I don’t miss anything I ‘need’.

Dogs will need a good run and then back for sausage and mash. I usually do a roast but have other bits to use up.

Have a great Sunday everyone.

Still in my PJs on the sofa. I'm only moving for hot drinks!

Need to do at least a bit of tidying and cleaning later, I've not felt properly well for a while (viruses I can't shift) so things have slipped.

Then DH and I are off to dinner and a gig which I'm very much looking forward to! Haven't seen much of him this week because of work so it'll be great to spend some time together.

lucysmam · 16/02/2025 10:40

@ShipshapeShore who are you seeing? Me and dd1 are seeing Pentire at a local ish indie venue on Wednesday.

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I've had two coffees and a thin bagel then got a washing on before I went to Aldi for food. Once home, second wash in and a cuppa with a lemon curd bun. Judgejudy I'm glad your dd is better.
Today I'll potter about and then visit mum in hospital. She's not well at all. I went to see Bridget Jones last night with low expectations and quite enjoyed it.

MferMonsterSearchingForRedemption · 16/02/2025 10:50

Morning.

I am cooking a roast for 11 people.

I rarely cook a Sunday roast, but decided to today. I made my Yorkshires in advance, and they have turned out like flying saucers. I always make good Yorkshires, but not happening today.

ShipshapeShore · 16/02/2025 10:51

@lucysmam Snow Patrol. Seen them before lots of times and it's quite magical!

Not heard of Pentire but you can't beat a good indie venue. I'd love to go to more live music but our DDs aren't quite old enough to be left yet and its expensive! Have a fab time.

twistyizzy · 16/02/2025 10:54

Had a sleepover for 5 x 13yr old girls last night. The last one has just been picked up and DD is now voluntarily on clean up duty bless her.
They did an all nighter but bless them were respectful and pretty quiet. Such a lovely group of kids!
My plans for today pretty much involve coffee, sofa + Netflix until I have to do horse tonight.

Thislittlekitten · 16/02/2025 11:06

Morning all.

We are away for a long weekend. Having a great time. I missed yesterdays thread as we were up and about early.

Today is just DD and I having a mooch about. Cake and boba tea will be featured. Just cake for me!

The boys are out all day so I think tonight will be early tea and chill out in hotel tonight.

frozendaisy · 16/02/2025 11:24

Good nearly midday all!
Me and H on couch by garden doors look forlornly at the jobs it’s still to cold to enjoy to do, hopefully that changes this week. Although did plant some seeds indoors yesterday as a push to find somewhere to plant them!

Coffee on table with book

Will call teens midday if no noises heard.
Will “enjoy” a couple of hours doing English practise.

Start cooking pork joint for roast after football. I don’t mind the Sunday afternoon game they can watch whilst me & Iggy Pop roast vegetables!

Boiler repair tomorrow so need to make boiler accessible. And can be from 8am - 6pm so booked an online delivery.

claudiawinklemansfringetrimmer · 16/02/2025 11:31

Lazy day for us today, so grey and drizzly outside we’ve decided to just stay at home!! I’ve done a bit of dusting and tidying in the living room and folded some washing while the kids potter around and play and watch tv. They’ll both need baths this afternoon and I’ll let DD stay in it and play as long as she likes. Roast for tea and then DH has agreed I can have the tv to watch the new season of Love Is Blind while he reads his book. He’s got
a new job which is normal working hours instead of lots of evening shifts which is great but means I’ll have to find another time to watch all my trashy tv shows! 😂

WhatWouldHopperDo · 16/02/2025 11:35

It’s a weird day here. Adult DD who currently lives at home is leaving tomorrow to go and work abroad for a year. So she’s finishing her packing, periodically having a wobble and generally we’re all a bit on edge!

DH and I are going to go to our caravan in storage to start the first steps of de wintering. DS is at work until 7.

Other than that it is distracting myself from thinking about DD leaving and probably a bit of study later (OU) as I am a bit behind.

Fish tacos for dinner.

lovingmememe · 16/02/2025 11:38

Woke up at 9 30 am woke up with a gallon of coffee had a shower no chores to do.

Thank god i live alone.
