"Fat" Monica in Friends isn't even fat

As per title. Rewatching all the old Friends episodes. How in the name of the wee donkey was this a recurring joke? She's basically normal sized but beside some very slim costars. I know it was a different time but it is so jarring to watch now.

I’m not sure that’s what this is to be honest, I don’t beleive simply discussing what constitutes fat means it is fat bashing, however there is a couple of posters who are being fat phobic and fat bashing, bizzarely of a healthy weight woman, but I think it’s clear that they have issues. On a forum with millions of people, you’re always going to get some folks with issues.

These threads always turn in to fat bashing ones. (Not saying every commenter is guilty of course).

Martine M is not fat in love actually, I wouldn’t even say she was chubby. She’s just not stick thin. I’m alarmed you would think she is fat when she is probably a size 12 at most!

Martine M put on weight for her role in Love Actually, I think she looks a little overweight in the film, but as she is very well proportioned she looks good. She lost the weight again after the film.

She is fat. This isn’t a healthy size. I can’t stand the glamorisation of obesity these days. It’s dangerous. Obesity is the leading cause of cancer. I recently bought some clothes (I’m having to return everything). I no longer know what to buy as a size 10 is more like an 18 now.
