Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day & thinking about getting dd1 up for breakfast. The kittens have been fed - boy kitten knocked down part of the clothes airer & woke me up 🙄, and dd2's already awake. She's snuggled up in bed with girl kitten.

The washer's on already & dd2 needs to appear with her uniform for a wash before I leave.

I'm off to a tiny gig, in Nottingham, today with dd1. It's someone we've seen before, as the opener, at an even smaller gig & dd1 is friendly with her. I'm just debating outfit - we're on public transport so I'd like a coat but it's not really practical for a standing gig unless the venue has a cloakroom & I can't see that they do, online.

Dd1 saw a tiktok of a themed Wetherspoons in Nottingham the other night, so wants to find that while we're there, and has asked for McDonald's for tea, so that's what we'll do with the afternoon.

Dd2's off out with her friend for a while. They only ever go to Tesco for a meal deal & eat it on the park, so that's what I expect they'll do today as well! She has homework she wants to do later on. I have no idea what she'll pick for tea with their dad - probably the same as us.

What about all of you? 🙂

Probably off to walk to the coast in next village.

But that's not important.... we need to see pics of your kitten/s !!

Enjoy the gig - sounds fun

Good Morning.

I am Mumsnetting in bed. Had an awful sleep. Dog would not settle at all.
Im going to make bacon rolls for me and DS then take him out for a walk.

DD at a friends. DH asleep. Dcats sleeping too.

Im going out this afternoon with friends and really looking forward to it. Should be back later tonight and imagine I’ll just sleep 🙈

WickWood · 01/02/2025 09:05

That sounds like a lovely day!

I've been up since 5am with my (almost) 4 month old little boy. I woke my partner at 7.30 (he'd done the night shift) and he made us a couple of brews. Me and the baby are going out for breakfast with my mum, I'm going to get eggs royale, can't wait. Partner is currently tidying the bedroom, I did some the other day so just a few bits to do, then he'll have some uninterrupted gaming time while we're gone.

Our cats have been fed and are just wandering around, unfortunately one went walkabout on Wednesday so we keep constantly checking to see if he's back, they're primarily house cats but we'd been letting them in the garden and none of them had left the garden until Wednesday. I really hope he comes home.

No idea what we'll do for the rest of the day! X

Andnowshesatoddler · 01/02/2025 09:10

Today is to be spent under blankets resting were just having coffee and toast my little girl is under the weather unfortunately.

starmoonsun · 01/02/2025 09:14

Good morning lucysmam sounds like you've got a lovely day planned.

Its a busy day here DD2 has her birthday party later and DD1 is going to her art class. Then DD2 is having a friend sleepover.
Think tea will be chicken pie and vegetables.
Need to get some homework and washing done beforehand and I'd like to find time to finish the cuffs and bottom hem of a dress I've made which I want to wear on Monday.

Topsy44 · 01/02/2025 09:15

Good Morning Lucysmam and All

DD and I are off to see my Mum today so need to get myself in the shower shortly. I woke up with a painful shoulder which seems to be par for the course at the moment with aches and pains and the menopause so just hoping it eases up soon with some nurofen.

This evening will be an easy tea watching Gladiators and Michael McIntyre.

WickWood - I hope your cat comes home soon.

lucysmam · 01/02/2025 09:15

🤣@littleblackcat247 pic of the kittens below. They're 10mo so not tiny any more. They're waiting for dd2 to blow some more bubbles in this one 🫧

The big one needs an ASBO! He's like having a toddler around the place atm.

Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

Morning all. It’s grey here today. First job will be to take mad dog for her sprint through the mud over the fields. DD is here and we’ve not made plans yet - might take her to the seaside for some prawns and a bag of chips. We’ve had a rough week to deal with and we’re both a bit delicate.

MessyNDepressy · 01/02/2025 09:17

That sounds like a fun day! I went to a 7am hot yoga class with my friend this morning, hard getting up but feel great for it now. Have stuck a wash on and now having some breakfast. Need to take DM for some shopping today, will do a few dog walks and I want to try and get the house cleaned so I can chill out with my book later.

DilemmaDelilah · 01/02/2025 09:18

Good morning @lucysmam . I've been waiting for you this morning and was hoping I would catch you before I had to go out!

It's Mr Dilemma's birthday on Tuesday so we are having a family birthday lunch tomorrow, and I have ordered a supermarket delivery today for the food. I'm not up to much cooking, so we agreed on an array of interesting breads, continental meats and cheeses, olives and salads. Wouldn't you know it... half the things are missing from the order, so we are going out as soon as I've finished writing this and got dressed, to get the missing things. Luckily we have a good choice of supermarkets and will be home before the delivery, which is due between 11 and 12.

Then I have to do some tidying and cleaning, and lay the dining table ready for tomorrow. This afternoon I will be exhausted and have to have a nap, and this evening will be binge watching the latest series of Shetland. We started it yesterday, so we may well finish most of it today.

TheChosenTwo · 01/02/2025 09:20

ASBO cat 😂

Morning all, been for a bracing swim, just home and showered and slowly returning to a normal temperature! Got a relative visiting abroad for the weekend, they are currently sleeping off some jet lag. I’ll prep breakfast in a bit then we are going over to see my nephews new house and meet the rest of the family for a pub lunch and a walk.
dh and ds are currently out at ds football match, they’ll join us for the lunch but then coming straight back to go and watch our local teams football match.
Tonight we’ve got some friends coming round for dinner. A nice Saturday ☺️

CalicoPusscat · 01/02/2025 09:20

Morning, sounds like a lovely day.

Just tidying and trying to eat again properly. Shopping for food and relaxing.

I am staying with a female friend at present and she's trying to warm my hands up as they get cramps when it's really cold

Simonjt · 01/02/2025 09:20

Rescue rooms or Rock City? @lucysmam I grew up near Nottingham, although it isn’t quite as rough as it was back then.

Morning all, I hope you have a nice saturday. Our son has a badge swim now so I’m sat waiting for his turn, its 500m day and it looks like we now have three students before him, so it shouldn’t be too much longer. My husbands taken our daughter to soft play, so I definitely have the better deal. When swimming is done we’re going to the leisure centre cafe for lunch as chips after swimming is compulsory.

No plans this afternoon, so we might pick something from netflix and make some snacks to eat while we all watch something.

FayKnights · 01/02/2025 09:24

Morning @lucysmam and the Saturday Gang!

Just stuck on first wash and back in bed with first cuppa to read my favourite thread and finish my online Asda shop ready for batch booking tomorrow.
But will get up properly shortly as need to get the dogs out for a run and then get ready for an afternoon in London.
I’m meeting up with my lovely uni group for an early dinner, we’ve been friends since the 90s, which has gone far too quickly! Its only 25 minutes on the train, so it’s not too much of a trek.

@WickWood I hope your fluff comes home very soon. We had a rescue cat a few years ago who wandered off a couple of times and would reappear a week later, we scattered the contents of the hoover bag in the garden as the scent apparently helps them, same with used kitty litter.
Have you had a look at the trackers for cats? Our friend has one for his Bengal and it’s excellent, I’m tempted to get one for ours just to see where he ventures.

Have a good day all whether it’s at gigs or pottering around the house 😊

daffodilandtulip · 01/02/2025 09:26

Morning all!

I've had a hell of a week - all is well now - so I am exhausted. I think scrolling and reading my book this morning, then a lazy bath before I take the dog out.

Just had a notification that my new trainers are on the way - not often I buy something actually new from a real shop since Vinted so very excited!

DS is out so I picked up some M&S Cannelloni yesterday to avoid cooking so I can have a full on recovery day!

Saturday night telly is reasonable at the moment too.

jotex · 01/02/2025 09:29

Just dropped my dad to the airport. He came to visit on Wednesday and we had a nice couple of days together. His aunt is 100 today so he’s flying back to see her.

I teach music as a volunteer at a local women’s prison and we’re putting on a concert tonight 🙂 So a bit of practice at home this morning before I go in later to set up. Fingers crossed!

lucysmam · 01/02/2025 09:31

@Simonjt Billy Bootleggers. Reviews online are not brilliant but we'll reserve judgement...

Good morning Lucysmam and others. Your kitten cats are adorable. I have showered and had two coffees and a slice of bread and butter. It's a baguette type loaf so plenty butter. The kitchen is tidy as is my bedroom. Shortly I'm off out for second breakfast with a friend. We will put the world to rights and then I'll take her home. After that, I'll nip to the library to pick up a book I ordered. I might visit mum in hospital later then home to read and have a glass of wine. Enjoy your day

Pascha · 01/02/2025 09:35

I'm on tennis duty right now, Ds2 is playing tennis,dh is at work and Ds1 is is home pretending to do homework.
No big plans for today. Just normal weekend stuff. Probably pizza tonight as the boys have planned to watch some motorsport event on YouTube tonight.

TheCatCameBack112 · 01/02/2025 09:35

Morning @lucysmam and all. I've been off all week and have failed to sleep in past 7.30 any day. Today was a 7 am wake up as Mr Motorbike, my neighbour, was heading out to work.

I've done my monthly budget, sorted cats and had coffee in bed. I've read a couple of chapters of my book and have been catching up on podcasts. We've been away for most of the week so have a bit of washing to do and want to put fresh sheets in and have a tidy up, vac, dust etc. I also need to pin down the moggies for their flea treatment.

I'm planning a scrubby bath with all my products this morning. I normally do this on a Sunday but want to get into a new habit of gym and swim early on a Sunday.

I'm moving onto my second New Month resolution (an alternative to a traditional NYR). I have been doing intermittent fasting all through January. I've felt better for doing it, haven't been hungry and haven't had any sniffles or aches and pains, which is unusual for me for January. I'm planning to keep on the IF on weekdays and have the weekends off. Feb's goal is to take a walk every day (even when it's dark/rainy). I might take a trip round our local nature reserve.

I'm planning avocado and poached eggs on sourdough for brunch, and then making a big pan of veggie chili for dinner with pitta breads and cheese. This evening I'm looking to start a new box set, and maybe a glass of wine to keep the holiday vibe going a little longer.

Hope everyone has a lovely day

frozendaisy · 01/02/2025 09:38

Morning all,
Just on the first coffee, rest of house still asleep but we have a rare treat of kippers for breakfast so that should get them up. We have all been ill this week (chesty cough), so today could go either way with many jobs being done or just nothing.

I need some fixative to finish some pencil/pastel work.

Making a beef and pickled walnut stew today, easy enough to prep but it’s 4 hours in the oven, with onion purée.

In reality I don’t know what we are doing today. But sometimes they are the most productive of days it sort of feels like that right now.

Echobelly · 01/02/2025 09:38

Just had a lie in and breakfast. After a busy one last weekend and a few Saturdays in row where I had to be out of the house by late morning I've got a weekend with very few fixed things.

Getting haircut at 5pm - always get a lovely massage during the hair wash there.

Otherwise, going to supermarket, sending DS to the barbers at some point.

Katherineryan1986 · 01/02/2025 09:39

Well it was my dad's 86th birthday yesterday and so we are going to visit him for lunch. DD2 is coming with her partner and their 7 month baby girl too. So really looking forward to that.

While there I will do a bit of housework for Dad, but to be fair he's good at keeping on top of it all himself.

After that we are going to visit my SIL and her husband, they have not seen DD2's baby yet.

When we get home, the dogs will need a loo break and then we will probably get takeaway for dinner.

So not the most exciting day, but I'm sure we will all enjoy it.

PiastriThePastry · 01/02/2025 09:40

Morning! Wishing everyone a very happy Sunday 😊

Been out with the dogs and sorted the horses first thing on my own which felt strange as I normally have my son in tow, but he stayed in bed with his dad. Currently eating breakfast with said 3yo, who is fully of the opinion that driving his toy tractor around is much more interesting than eating… I suppose he’s not wrong. DH actually has a day off today so we’re going to go to our local farm machinery auction in a bit, boy’ll love that… and I expect husband has an ulterior motive and has spotted something he simply MUST buy! Later, not sure. I did say to my son earlier in the week we could take his dog for a walk in the woods that our farm backs onto so I ought to do that really. I’m 34 weeks pregnant and severely lacking motivation in the afternoons at the moment 😅 just a nice chilled day all round really!

Hedjwitch · 01/02/2025 09:52

Still in bed. Really.must get moving!
Need to do the recycling,a food shop and pick up DHs prescription. I plan to make banana bread and apricot flapjacks, and spend the rest of the time watching rugby.
