Have you ever ordered form temu before ? Seems like it’s a scam site as so cheap ?

Is this legit or what ?

Everything is terrible quality.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 26/01/2025 21:30

It's 'legit' but it's pretty universally known they use incredibly cheap/probably forced labour to do things. The quality can also be very hit and miss.

Tothinkornottothink · 26/01/2025 21:30

Cheap tat innit

Shouldbedoing · 26/01/2025 21:31

It has a poor reputation for child slavery

Hercisback1 · 26/01/2025 21:31

Don't use it. Unethical and crap quality.

TallNeckedGiraffe · 26/01/2025 21:31

@Tothinkornottothink
Yes. Made by slaves.

MudpiesinEssex · 26/01/2025 21:34

If you order something, it'll arrive.

MyCatNamedCookingFat · 26/01/2025 21:34

I'm in two minds because lots from the high street stuff is 'made in china' and this stuff too is 'made in china', but direct from china.

Eyesopenwideawake · 26/01/2025 21:37

I bought several runner/kitchen rugs from them last year, they are good quality and wash well. I really don't feel comfortable buying again though.

YourFriendlyGhost · 26/01/2025 22:43

It’s the same stuff on Amazon most of the time, but at a fraction of the cost

stayathomer · 26/01/2025 22:45

I honestly don’t get how it hasn’t been shut down yet, and environmentally it’s horrendous!

LegArmpits · 26/01/2025 22:50

Almost all of it is identical to Amazon. I bought a shower caddy from Amazon for £30, checked Temu and they had the exact same one with the same manufacturer and serial number for £20. Anything that does arrive broken or is shit, they'll refund. I don't get why people think it's any worse than Amazon. It's all from the same factory in China!

Who would shut it down? It's beyond the reach of regulators.

Spirallingdownwards · 26/01/2025 22:57

It is a data mining site.

It really is ^
It's like alibaba where you buy in bulk (then resell on Amazon and eBay in UK) but you buy individual items. Expect 2 weeks for delivery and not quality items.

I usually use for party decorations, party favours, silly school dress up days, nothing else really.

Definitely wouldn't trust electronics etc from there as not regulated like in UK / EU.

As to the data mining stuff I always use apple pay to encrypt the payment details and private relay for signing in so that email etc is also hidden.

XelaM · 27/01/2025 09:31

Love Temu!

Never had an issue and the quality is the same as other sites like Amazon as Temu literally sell the same items (just cheaper)

Cantsleepdontsleep · 27/01/2025 09:46

I used it for the first time this Christmas and can honestly say that I was really impressed. There were a few things I bought and expected to be crap as they were so cheap and they’ve all bar two massively exceeded my expectations. There was only I item I would have returned but couldn’t be bothered as it was not expensive and I can find an alternative use for it. The other was not as good as I had hoped, but ok for the price - had I bought it on Amazon I would have been more upset as. It would have been twice the price - it was an advent calendar so difficult to return after the fact.
Pretty much everything I bought is also available on Amazon for 1/3 more but much shorter delivery times (obviously). I can’t see how Temu is any less ethical (I suspect neither are very good) when the products are the same.
Biggest issue is the volume of items and if you look around you’ll find the same items at a variety of prices (within Temu) without any discernible way to filter by item and price.

Notaflippinclue · 27/01/2025 16:17

Chinese tat - boycott

Moier · 27/01/2025 16:19

It's same as Shein and Cider.
My daughter has got some lovely clothes.. but take notice of the reviews and sizes.
But you see a lot BNWT for sale on Vinted.

BobbyPeruLikeTheCountry · 27/01/2025 16:20

It’s legit insofar as you will get your stuff, but it will be poor quality, probably slave produced and they’ll do unethical stuff with your data too.

Viviennemary · 27/01/2025 16:20

It looks totally dire.

Yes this.

The unethical crap is sold cheap so they can get your details. The app isn't even a traditional app. There was something on radio 4 about it a few months ago.
