Is this legit or what ?

I won't use it due to data mining, slave labour and over-consumption - making all that shite damages the environment and China really doesn't care.

They make rubbish, we order it, they send it over here, we use it (or not) and then we send it to a charity shop which sends it as rags overseas and it ends up sodden and dirty on a west African beach somewhere. No thanks.

I've ordered fancy dress stuff, it's good for things like that

Hopetomakeitwork · 11/06/2025 20:47

I have bought three video players from temu but I have been trying for the last month to convert avi to amv. Scream!!

SabbatWheel · 11/06/2025 21:04

As a past poster said, it’s pretty much exactly the same stuff that you can buy on Amazon but cheaper.

I suspect many saying ‘Cheap tat’ haven’t actually used Temu. I have had some amazing bargains from trailer accessories to garden lamps. I haven’t bought one single thing that has been crap quality and only one item took longer than a week to arrive ( and that’s because I missed that it was coming by land.)

It actually shows just how much mark up other online stores are putting on these goods and I can imagine that NONE of that markup is going to the workers making the goods.

MintChocCat · 11/06/2025 21:05

Yep, it’s like Shein - terrible quality and takes a while to arrive. I wouldn’t recommend it. Support local 👍

In Europe there are a lot of safety and environmental standards that are not in place in China. It's my understanding that Temu and the like bypass these standards. I don't know the ins and outs of why this is legal but I know that you can receive products that, for instance, have high levels of dangerous chemicals.

And of course a lot of consumerism is ethically dodgy but buying directly from a Chinese app is something which is definitely unethical in terms of the labour that's gone into it. It's also very easy to avoid.

Does shein have a factory in the UK.
I know everyone will hate me.
But I ordered 7 things 3rd June and it was delivered by 7th June.
Everything was a perfect fit and well made for the price.
I'm a size 18 and only 5ft 1. Jeans were a perfect length.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/06/2025 23:22

Don’t hate me. I like it

got some nice clothes for dd from it

akso got sone garden furniture and a make up table for dd

DepositSaverUpper · 11/06/2025 23:26

I've also got stuff off amazon and it's been in temu packaging. Same ref no and everything.

Most of the high street have factories in china, also huge designer brands youd pay thousands per item for, also china factories.

Wildywondrous · 11/06/2025 23:36

A lot of the things you see on Amazon can be bought from Temu for a fraction of the price, same brand and same photos.
I presume people buy from Temu and then sell on Amazon or Ebay for 'UK' prices.
One of the most recent things I bought was a harness for my puppy, £1.67 from Temu and the identical one on Amazon was £14.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/06/2025 02:27

Plus they are great for refunds

Stolenyouth · 12/06/2025 04:38

I think on Temu the model is to try and become a market leader and gather data rather than make a profit at the moment.
The site is ridiculous, spinning wheels and 90% off if you buy 8 more things and check out in 10 minutes. Plus postage is quite high.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/06/2025 21:24

I’ve never paid for postage. It’s free over £15

if an order is under - rare lol - I just add a dress etx to go over £15

one dress I actually liked to kept

another I returned. Easy free returns
