Does anyone have any yellow metanium?

Spares or perhaps from when your kids were small- It’s been discontinued :(
My 9 week old has the worst nappy rash ever (horrific open sores)- various steroid creams used, dermatologist appointment, A&E visit.
The one thing that seems to be working is mixing the Hydromol we got from the dermatologist with yellow Metanium and I’ve just used up the last of what little I ha for my older child which was leftover..
I will happily pay obviously and for postage etc, but I cannot afford the ludicrous prices people are selling tubes for on EBay and Vinted.
Please PM or comment and I’ll get into contact.
praying on the magic of the internet ❤️

I can’t help but replying to keep your thread active so you get what you need! We’re down to our last tube. 😬 The discontinuation of metanium has been the nursery doorstep drop-off chat for WEEKS. Of all the things!

Armadillo00 · 25/01/2025 19:45

Thank you @pelargoniums 🙏

Your poor baby. It's not metanium but many report it's better, Weleda Calendula cream, if you can't get hold of any metanium. (also helping to keep this active)

I don't have any yellow but have a couple of tubes of white if any good?

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 25/01/2025 20:01

I can't believe they discontinued it, was a lifesaver for my 3 kids.

But, on a side note. Is it possible your baby has thrush? Does the rash look shiny at all? Canestan cream might help?

Coffeeandcinnamonbun · 25/01/2025 20:06

Please PM me. I have some left over. And my eldest was exactly as you’re describing due to a cows milk protein allergy.

Tipperttruck · 25/01/2025 20:08

No! I still use a very very old tube for things now and again. It was so so so good!

Of course I also still have the stains on things from 10 years ago 😁

LunchBoxPolice · 25/01/2025 20:08

I have a tube that’s open, half full. I understand if you don’t fancy an open one, but I thought I’d offer ☺️

eggsontoast1 · 25/01/2025 20:11

Metanium is a god send! I can't believe they discontinued it. I have some, but it's been opened and used. If that's OK for you, I'm happy to send it your way.

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 25/01/2025 20:12

I can't help because we're looking past that stage but I can't believe they've discontinued it! DS was lucky and only got nappy rash once when I bought Aldi nappies he was obviously allergic too, but my niece had CMPA and it was a life saver with her

RandomMess · 25/01/2025 20:14

When one of mine was in that state we got Sprilon spray which was designed for bed sores but it was utterly amazing.

Had it on prescription but you can buy it over the counter.

Ceejadess · 25/01/2025 20:17

I only realised this evening they had discontinued as I went to replace my tube! They appear to have some on this website but no idea if it’s legit or not, sorry. https://eclipse-pharmacy.com/product/metanium-nappy-rash-ointment-gsl/

Thank you so much for replies. X
Will give the Sprilon Spray a mention at my next GP appointment.
My thinking is CMPA through my milk as it’s not as if I leave her in poopy nappies for ages- always quick to change, tried all nappies, tried all the different creams, never used wipes and nothing helps, it just kept getting progressively worse which was heartbreaking! So week 2 of cutting out dairy and it’s not spreading anymore - just need to concentrate on the healing so we can shall in the long run whether that manage been the initial cause!

Cavilon spray is excellent for broken skin. We had it on prescription at first then bought from
amazon.

I don’t normally reply to threads but I feel you and hope this will help you.

My baby had to have an emergency stoma at 2 days old. When he was 10 months he had a reversal and started pooing in the ‘normal’ way. Because of this sudden use of his bum and the fact he went constantly for the first few weeks the nappy rash he suffered was beyond anything I was ever prepared for! They recommended metanium but it did nothing for him after a while. He had open sores and blisters on his bum, they used to bleed and he’d scream the house down as soon as he saw his changing mat!

I reached out to a company for help, they are called Wild and Wood. They told me to try a healing balm they handmake. It is actual miracle cream, I bought the ‘here to heal’ pack which came with bath oats and a soap bar. Within 3 days his bum didn’t even have redness to it, all the sores dried up and he was back happy again! It worked so well that his stoma nurse phoned me and asked the details so she could tell other parents off the record what to use on their babies after reversals. Everyone I have recommended has used it and has said they cannot believe the results. We now keep a constant supply of the cream as it works on any skin irritations. They are on fb and instagram if you want to check them out and they also reply to messages if you want to chat to them.

kiana2015 · 25/01/2025 20:46

I will have a look I bought one a few months ago so I might not have used it all

GivingUpFinally · 25/01/2025 20:51

We had similar and my mom suggested baking soda in the bath. 2 tbsp into warm running water. Baby in for 10 mins or so 2 x a day. In 3 days it was better.

We tried all the creams you had as well. In the end I worked out the mentinium yellow, was only masking how bad it was.

I also used my peri bottle with warm water and pat dried after nappy changes helped as well.

Tryingtryingandtrying · 25/01/2025 20:53

Have you tried cleaning baby with a water with a spoonful of bicarbonate of soda in it. It was a game changer for us with the worst case of nappy rash I had seen

Armadillo00 · 25/01/2025 21:00

Oh I have some bicarbonate of soda, I will get on that tomorrow!

@Armadillo00 I've got a couple of half used tubes which I'd be happy to send you if you don't mind their having been opened? Pm me if you'd like them :)

Loobylou1984 · 25/01/2025 21:14

The little pharmacy near ds school had some in before Xmas as we got it instead of bepanthem, I’ll walk up on Monday and see if they have any left

HundredPercentUnsure · 25/01/2025 21:16

Whaaat! Why on earth has it been discontinued?

Try Bepantham!

Armadillo00 · 25/01/2025 21:26
