It's freezing and I need a pee. It's going to be another half hour before breakdown recovery get here!

I hope they come soon! Don't run down your phone battery too much, you might need it x

Enko · 24/01/2025 23:09

Well better than yours as I am in bed in a strangely bad mood
.not sure why as noone pissed me off just one of those low moods I guess

Theunamedcat · 24/01/2025 23:09

Is it busy? Can you pee by the car?

PokerFriedDips · 24/01/2025 23:10

Sympathy!

Open both front and passenger doors on the kerb side and you have a semi-secluded cubicle where you can squat and pee

MyJoyousTraybake · 24/01/2025 23:11

Make sure you stay behind the crash barrier (hopefully there is one) As it's cold it's tempting to stay in the car, but much safer behind barrier. It's dark, no one will notice you having a quick pee if you're desperate. Hope recovery turn up soon!

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 24/01/2025 23:12

It's dark, just pee anywhere. Please preserve phone battery.
Wishing you a quick fix xxx

Overthebow · 24/01/2025 23:14

Are you out of the car and behind the crash barrier? That’s the main thing that you’re safe.

God yeah, get out the car and behind the crash barrier asap. You are a sitting duck in the car.

IncessantNameChanger · 24/01/2025 23:17

Oh no that's not good! Pee now well before breakdown turn up. Make sure you stand behind your car, not next to it or I front in case it gets hit. Stay safe!

My night isn't great. Had a call to say fil is stacking outside hospital 200 miles north of us. No idea whats going on. He was stented in September. No way to get up there and him and step mil aren't great at straight to the facts

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 24/01/2025 23:18

No crash barrier but we're well up the bank away from the car. You wouldn't believe how much traffic is going past. I'm not so much worried about that as am incredibly clumsy and I'd probably fall into a patch of nettles!

I'm also 126 miles from home so I hope it's an easy fix!

Battery is on low power mode

Hope they come soon op

Survivor2020 · 24/01/2025 23:21

You have my complete sympathy. I hope the recovery come soon, its freezing. Do you have children with you?

MyJoyousTraybake · 24/01/2025 23:22

If recovery need to relay you home, ask them to stop at next services for a more comfortable pee. The AA man was lovely when I said I was desperate, I did offer to buy him a coffee while I was in the services using the toilet but he declined. Unless you brave the nettles before they arrive of course.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 24/01/2025 23:25

No children here thankfully. Just me and DH.

You'll all be relieved to hear I had my wee. I did a quick recce with my phone and found a nettleless place. Feel much better now though my feet are numb!

I'm being quite lighthearted about this, but I hope others have more difficult times are ok.

The recovery vehicle will have an emergency foil blanket, do take it when they offer it to you. It really does help you feel warm again. Hope recovery turn up soon. I'm glad you have DH with you, I was on my own and it was terrifying.

rewilded · 24/01/2025 23:34

I am glad you are with you DH, I thought you were on your own. Hope you get assistance soon.

VividBlue · 24/01/2025 23:35

This is why I keep a couple of hi-vis vests in my car, the thought of being on a hard shoulder with lorries rushing by terrifies me. Not that they’d probably make much difference 😫
Also a good idea to keep a couple of those foil blankets in the boot too.

TickingAlongNicely · 24/01/2025 23:37

Hope your truck is with you. When I needed one recently they just took us to the nearest service station to wait for a mechanic. But at least service stations have food, toilets and warmth.

Catsandcheese · 24/01/2025 23:40

We had a tyre blow out on the M40 once and the police arrived to give us some protection. In the end they actually changed the tyre for us. We were very grateful.
i hope they turn up for you OP, it makes you feel better at least!

RandomMess · 24/01/2025 23:52

We got taken to the nearest services then had to wait 7 hours to be taken home from there.

Scutterbug · 24/01/2025 23:54

Oh no. The M40 can be quite desolate in places! Glad you have somebody with you x

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 24/01/2025 23:57

It's now raining which is not improving mine or DH's mood. The recovery vehicle was estimated to be here 20 minutes ago so sense of humour failure is imminent!

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 24/01/2025 23:58

Recovery just arrived

OP posts:
VividBlue · 24/01/2025 23:59

Yay. Hope the car is fixed and you’re on your way again soon.

IncessantNameChanger · 25/01/2025 00:07

Woop woop to yhe recovery van.

My exhaust fell off on the A2 just outside of London once. So i not only had broken down but I had caused a major crash hazard with exhaust on the road. I was at uni and much more relaxed back then. I'd be freaking out I would cause a pile up now.
