Taking into account handwriting and spelling? The two seem incongruous to me.

I don't think sentence complexity will help as I am pretty sure she rushed this, so was churning out sentences vs. concentrating on sentence structure.

The irony of my typo in the headline 😔

Lovely writing- 10?

WhenTheyComeForYou · 20/01/2025 18:13

This looks like my daughters did when she was in year 2 so age 6-7. Nearly joined up writing but lots of spelling mistakes still. The spelling improved a lot in year 3.

FartyPrincess · 20/01/2025 18:13

Five or six if they are taught cursive from the outset.

LIZS · 20/01/2025 18:14

7/8

My guess is eight. Lovely to see cursive, it’s rarely taught in schools these days

Comedycook · 20/01/2025 18:15

Year 4/5

So I'd say between age 8-10

kiana2015 · 20/01/2025 18:17

Judging by spelling I would say reception/year1

I agree with this, my daughter was the same in year 2

Neat writing but spelling is questionable. I'd be focusing as much on spelling as neatness.

ErinAoife · 20/01/2025 18:24

8 years old

mynameiscalypso · 20/01/2025 18:25

Well, the handwriting is better than mine has ever been and I'm in my 40s.

TeddyBeans · 20/01/2025 18:26

I'd say year 4 but interested in the spellings as well. She's got guard and fruit right but not school. School is on the year 1 spelling list and guard/fruit are on the year 3/4 spelling list 🤔

Haha. The average 5/6 year old is not this ability.

goingtotown · 20/01/2025 18:27

Age 7

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 20/01/2025 18:28

The handwriting is really good but the spelling doesn't match it so I'd guess about 7, maybe 8.

MyMagicStars · 20/01/2025 18:28

Y2/3?

Msmoonpie · 20/01/2025 18:28

I would say 8.

The handwriting is good and so is the range of words - but the words are spelled phonetically so maybe not much older than that ?

kiana2015 · 20/01/2025 18:28

Can you tell us the age OP?

ClementinePancakes · 20/01/2025 18:29

I think 9 from the handwriting and content, but clearly needing some support with spelling.

CandyLeBonBon · 20/01/2025 18:30

Handwriting: 10
Spelling: 6/7

MissRachelismycoparent · 20/01/2025 18:30

The spelling isn't good, maybe 6?

Hellohah · 20/01/2025 18:30

I'd say spelling was 6 and handwriting 10 so going down the middle and guessing 8.

Kokomjolk · 20/01/2025 18:30

I guess 9 or 10 but the child struggles with spelling. Which is surely reasonably common.

Doggymummar · 20/01/2025 18:30

The spelling is similar to my dyslexic niece. I would say about 6 or seven depending on level of help given. Nice neat writing though ☺️

BlackBean2023 · 20/01/2025 18:31

I'd hazard a guess at year 3/4. It's lovely and neat.

LOL at those suggesting a reception/year 1 child - got to love MN!
