Just as the title says really ? We often don't get home till 6 so dinner at 6 then bedtime seems to be really late, but tonight my dd is so tired and sobbing over being so tired I'm wondering if I'm putting her to bed too late for her age group x

Around 9pm once she’s finished arsing around 🙄🤣

TheThreeMiracles · 14/01/2025 19:47

@Newyearnewmewoooop same here ! But it seems far too late 🫣 I also have to lay with her until she is asleep so it's a lot longer than just putting her in her bed if that makes sense all

7pm on a non clubs night, otherwise 7.30, sometimes 8

9-10pm. Far too late by traditional standards, but even on days I start bed at 8pm, he’s not asleep before 0930

Fridaysgirl17 · 14/01/2025 19:50

Mine is settling down now,it's generally between 7 30 & 8 every night as he can get very tired otherwise

SushiWarrior · 14/01/2025 19:53

He gets into bed at about 7, asleep by 8. At the weekends or holidays we do let him stay up later, we’re not super regimented.

Sprogonthetyne · 14/01/2025 19:54

Mine go some time between 7-8, depending what else have on. Usually takes about an hour to fall asleep, so could be as late as 9 by the time they're asleep.

xmaspomanon · 14/01/2025 19:56

Bed at 6pm
They they read for an hour max.

Trolltrotters · 14/01/2025 19:58

There is a lot of arsing about here too, but upstairs for 7.30pm/8pm

If he's asleep for 9pm that's good, generally usually asleep between 9pm/9.30pm. We only need to be up for 8am though so wake up time between 7.30am amd 8am

Iudncuewbccgrcb · 14/01/2025 19:58

6.5 year old Between 8 and 8.30 (just been to tell them it's bed time in a few mins as it happens!) and they are usually fast asleep within 10-20 mins of getting into bed.

I have an 8 year old too though who is still wide awake at 9 and I don't go and switch their light off and force them to put their book down and go to sleep until around 9.30.

Both wake up at 7am with no issues

Quackers1990 · 14/01/2025 19:58

we aim for 7.30 to be in bed reading/listening to a story so that they are asleep between 8-8.30.

Reallynosuchthing · 14/01/2025 20:04

My current (just) 7yr old loves his sleep so we get him to bed by 7 and he’s usually sparko by 7:15 latest.

At 7 my older kid was very different. Would be in bed reading from 7;30 but took ages to wind down and would sleep usually between 8:30 and 9.

So there is no right answer really!

CCLCECSC · 14/01/2025 20:07

Ideally in bed for 745 for a story. Depends entirely on what time home, extra curricular activities etc, homework. Needs a good 11h.

LegoHouse274 · 14/01/2025 20:08

My 6.5yo is usually asleep by around 8pm. Sometimes it's closer to 7.45 if she's very tired. Almost never later than about 8.20.

That being said she's been waking 2-4 times a night for the past few weeks...

Chipsahoy · 14/01/2025 20:11

Between 7.30 and 8pm

RosemaryRabbit · 14/01/2025 20:14

On a good, ideal night: in bed for 7.30. Lights out falling asleep 8pm.

On a big faffing night, late back from a club, general household disarray type night: in bed 8.30, falling asleep about 9 or a bit later.

Latter not ideal. Child is fine but eats into our adult evening too much.

letsdodance · 14/01/2025 20:14

9pm. She is still 6, has a summer birthday. Bedtime has been 9pm since she was in reception.

BoudiccasBangles · 14/01/2025 20:15

About 9pm. Up to bed at 8 and an hour of faffing. Hes up for school at 7:30. He’s ASD so it’s extra fun and games at bedtime. In the holidays he sleeps 9pm - 9am. He gets very run down and tired in term time as he doesn’t get enough sleep but haven’t yet found a way to get him off earlier.

Lampblue · 14/01/2025 20:16

Around 8.30/9, but they often don’t sleep till about 10. Awake at 7.30.

Dumbo18 · 14/01/2025 20:17

xmaspomanon · 14/01/2025 19:56

Bed at 6pm

Wow 6pm? What time is tea? Seems so early but if it works then it works, does it not eat into you spending time together?

Topjoe19 · 14/01/2025 20:18

8.30/8.45 then up to read for 15/20 mins then I go up to tuck her in & lights off. I forgot about her the other night as I was watching Missing You on Netflix with DH & she had to come down & tell me she wanted to go to sleep 😂

coxesorangepippin · 14/01/2025 20:19

8pm

Usually asleep by 830 pm

The usual messing around, asking questions etc etc

Nevertoocoldforicecream · 14/01/2025 20:22

In bed for 7pm, story etc until about 7:30.

Caterina99 · 14/01/2025 20:24

8-8.30. Maybe 9 on a weekend

invisiblebark · 14/01/2025 20:25

Between 8 and 8:30 we aim for on school nights. Can be as late as 9 sometimes, though. We aren't strict with it.

At weekends he can go to bed later.
